I have done a search but cannot find the answers. Some of you say you are 50% relaxed or 75% etc but how long do u leave it the realxer on your head INCLUDING APPLICATION TIME to achieve this?

I want to get my hair done at my hairdressers tomorrow evening after work so urgently need answers please:rolleyes:

Can you tell me how long do you leave it on for:

50% relaxed and what does your hair look & feel like afteward?

70% relaxed and what does the hair look & feel like afterward?

85-90% relaxed and what does your hair look & feel like afterward?

Thankyou!!

I think it depends on your hair type...as soon as I am done putting the relaxer on I start rinsing it out starting with the section I started relaxing first. I would say that's about 7 minutes. My hair is 4A or B I think but it is fine and very soft.

After Im done I still have a lot of my curl pattern left and it's super soft.

I'm 4a and I leave it for 12-13 minutes using a mild relaxer that I've added oil to.

I guess it's about 50% relaxed...

Hi Sareca!

Yipeee you are one of the people I was hoping to hear from!! Your hair is gooorgeous. It is so pretty with those curls. Is it hard to get it straight?

I am a 4a/4b type there is huge 4a section of my hair at the back that just cannot seem to cope with the bone straight relaxing so I have decided that from now I will not be 100% relaxing.

p.s. is that 12-13 minutes from the moment you start applying the relaxer? ( I have just edited my orginal post to ask people to include application time as I forgot to write that)

thanks..

100%--had last of straggly relaxed ends trimmed last month.

I leave my relaxer on between 8 and 10 minutes...for the whole head--from beginning to end.
Gotta move fast and always set a timer!

And I don't smooth after applying relaxer.

Don't fight it. :nono: you won't win...
:) I love having texturized hair, but getting the right and consistent results is no easy tasks. :nono: It has basically taken me 2.5 years to get it right. I just updated my fotki with my new relaxer instructions...

ETA: It straightens with just a rollerset...

Your hair is amazing....both curly and straight.

2.5 years - thats about how long I have been on this forum and I still haven't got my hair 100% how I want it there have been times when I just want to give up. My hair looks healthy and strong and then it just becomes destroyed by the relaxer and then its back to thinning hair again *sigh* thats why I want to try something new.

Wow! Last month when I cut my hair and saw how short it was, I said EXACTLY the same thing. I QUIT! Every single year I find some new reason to cut off 4 inches! EVERY SINGLE YEAR! The first year was damage, the second year it was uneven, now it's too straight. Arrrgh! :wallbash: And every time I say "That's the last cut." This year after I cut it I actually had a little temper tantrum in the bathroom. :blush3: When I calmed down, I realized it might take me 5 years to get where I want to go. I asked myself why is that bad? The answer was 'Other people don't have to wait 5 years for BSL.' The light went off. Ah ha! I was disappointed because I was comparing myself to others. That's a recipe for disappointment. I'll get there when it's my season to get there and not one minute sooner and so will you. :hug2: We can do this, we're just gonna have to be a bit more tenacious than we'd planned and a change of course might be in order. :yep:

Thanks for the encouragement  to me your hair looks perfect.

I get consistent results by doing this for exactly 10 minutes with a timer, which includes application and smoothing time. :yep:

18 mins max - but I aim for 15 or less. I use S-Curl Regular Strength so it gives me more time to work.
