4 techniques that grew my hair to BSL!!!!!!

  • no combing dry hair
  • DCing on dry hair
  • styling hair either by airdrying & doing braidouts or rollersetting
  • washing in braids & combing/detangling in the shower w/lots of condish
  • using seamless combs
  • using conditioner as leave-in when airdrying

WHAT conditioner do you use as a leave in?

  1. Stretching relaxers at least 3 months & dust (thickens hair)
  2. Consistant everyday Moisturizing (via co-wash, water, dc, leave-in, moisturizer
  3. 98% Buns and Braidouts
  4. Monthly Protein treatment

Great thread, OP.:yep:

This is what has helped me:

~Washing twice weekly
~No direct heat
~Rollersetting
~Keeping ends moisturized

major yet simple:
prepooing/ diluted shampoo- it sets the stage for me
low manipulation
no direct heat unless occasional blowdry when getting a trim
no double processing
keeping my ends healthy with regular trims
Pibbs 514: hate to come off like a pusher, but this was crucial in my results
seamless combs
loose protective styles most of the time, but I am not scared to wear it down
Not obsessing over hair too much. just giving it what it needs and leaving it alone

My top 4 techniques are:
  • no direct heat
  • daily moisturizing, especially my ends
  • stretching relaxers up to 3 months
  • protecting the hair from damaging surfaces

regular, gently detangling
clean scalp and hair
protective styles
no heat
no trims
no relaxers

Keeping it as simple as possible.

Nice thread! My hair has thrived from:

relaxer stretching
air drying
protective styling
moisturizing daily

Protective styling
Deep Conditioning
Stretching relaxers (turned into transitioning for me)
Moisturizing daily/ every other day
Protecting my hair with silk or satin bonnet while I sleep (Maverick Wear)
Vitamins (Multi, biotin, MSM)

Washing while in sections
Taking care of my ends
Washing and cowashing often
Moisture, moisture, moisture. Q

My problem is I'm not long enough yet to wear in a loose bun, so I have to wear a tighter more slicked down bun & add hair. I am on a constant quest for a product that will moisturize, slick down edges, and tame the beast called NG:lachen: any suggestions will be welcomed.I pretty much follow your same reggie except I'm currently using MT/OCT. By the way great progress, your hair is beautiful. LOVE THE V!!!!

Elasta QP Mango Butter, will do the trick:yep:...and thank u,l've grown to love the "V":yep:

OP, this is a wonderful thread and your hair is very beautiful! I've read all the pages in this thread and would like to see more. Definitely will incorporate and have adopted the airdrying and relaxer stretching to my reggie. Thanks a bunch!

Congrats, PatienceVirtue!

  • Stretching
  • Pre-poos
  • Deep Conditioning
  • Cutting back on regular direct heat
  • Low manipulation
  • Getting rid of harmful products: for me it was harmful gels and others that dried my hair out

Is there anyone who NEVER or RARELY protective styles? I have been getting nice growth by:

-- No trims only S&D
-- Relaxing every 10 weeks (really texlax)
-- Deep CO at least once a week - usually twice
-- Alternating protein & moisture conditioning weekly
-- Rollersetting twice a week
-- Moisturizing daily

I haven't used my flatiron since August and been strictly rollersetting. I don't have patience for protective styles.... I getting good growth, so I'm sticking with this, but just wonder if EVERYONE is protective styling.
