3 Month Ayurveda Challenge

oh yes I always oil first. i was using shik and amla candy c's way as a tea..........

Yeah the paste can be a bit clumpy, maybe you can play with by adding a tad bit more water, I have never tried the runny paste idea, but it sounds pretty good, use an applicator bottle maybe to keep it from dripping??? I like the paste until I'm more than 3wks. post, after that it becomes too hard to rinse, so it's tea after that point, or in my cond. as a cowash, Also when I use the shikakai, amla, neem mixture, I always follow up with a dc that contains amla, brahmi, & bhringraj. These powders are soooo moisturizing my hair feels soft as butter afterwards. I still reek the benefits of using the powders straight, but I get the added benefit of the cond. plus an easy rinse.

Nope, I have to admit I never add oil to cond. Usually because I'm following up with oiling my scalp with my homemade mixture coconut oil, Bhringraj, Amla, Brahmi, these three are my staples, I use them everyday in some way, because they promote growth, & thicken the hair, either in a cowash or nightly as a scalp oil or sealer. I only use the Shikakai, Neem, amla when I want to cleanse once a week. I also have an oil I have made of these as well , I use as a prepoo on wash day, but never mixed in. HTH

prepoo with cocasta oil
shampoo with shikakai bar
dc tresemme con with amla
leave in Butter treat
seal with amla oil
oil scalp with Bhringraj

can i join please?? i use brahmi oil and amla oil, i just ordered brahmi powder and a powder mix of brahmi, shik, amla, and bhring. from ebay.

what do you guys think about the water paste?
i have tired rinses last year, but it caused my hair to break off because i wasnt rinsing enough. With a paste i can tell if its all out but it gets clumpy and dry when im applying.
I tried making paste out of powder and oil but it clumps. Im wondering if make a thin paste or runny paste will work?

Yea, I usually add oil to paste and that makes it easier to get out the clumps. I think a thin runny paste will work, it would just be messy.

:welcome4:

Didn't wash or anything last night, but used Afroveda Shikakai Hair Growth Elixir on my scalp and Afroveda Shea-Amla Whipped Butter Cream on my hair for TnC. I like both of these products, especially the whipped butter. My hair is super moisturized, soft, and lightly scented.

^^See, I always watch those hair videos with no sound :lachen:If there's writing, no need to listen too. I'm going to do this tonight, I'll report back.

Wednesday pre-pooed over night with coconut oil and scritched scalp with homemade tea tree shikakai oil

yesterday washed her with shikakai/brahmi/amla powders
then co washed with AO HSR
later DC with biolage balm mixed with vatika oil; which I still have in my hair cos I slept in it overnight.
Massaged scalp with mahabringraj oil.

okay, i'm a few days late but i've decided to join... if i still can "officially" join... :look:

i've been thinking, especially now in winter when my skin/scalp gets cold and dry, i should incorporate more oils.

so i will be sticking with my shikakai and amla powders (which i brew into a tea to wash my hair with) then co-wash afterwards. i've decided to use almond oil and brahmi oil for my scalp massages.

and i will be using a heat pass for Christmas/New Year's, but otherwise i'm keeping my hair in my protective twisty-bun. :yep: (i might go back to using henna too)

this is my most recent photo of my hair "out":

i will post my Christmas hair pic in about 3 weeks as my "straight hair pic" for comparison as well. ;)

I know many ladies are on the Ayurvedic bandwagon, so let's do our first challenge based on this method.

Let's really test this method, LHCF style! :yep:

Challenge Begins Dec. 1 and ends February 28

The Rules:
1. No Direct Heat
2. You must use at least two Auyrvedic oils
3. You must use at least two Auyrvedic powders
4. 2 Heat Passes (I'm feeling generous)

That's it!

Who's In?

*Please post reggies (editing them when they change) and starting pics

I want to be on this challenge but I don't know how to use my ayervedic stuff with my KCCC.:ohwell: Anyone got any tips?

Kinky curly curl custard, the best curl gel I've ever used. Sorry, thought everyone knew what it was. I co wash every 3 days and refresh my curls with water. The product doesn't do well with oils.:ohwell: I guess this challenge is off limits for me.:nono:

LOL oh ok.

Well in that case of course you can still do the challenge and use your KCCC.

You can wash your hair with the Ayurvedic powders or soap bar.

You can co wash with a mixture of condish and powders

You can pre-poo with a herbal oil

You can massage/scritch your scalp a few times a week with an oil

You can mix the powder or oil in to your DC.

All which allow you to still use the KCC on your hair for styling purposes.

There are endless possibilities.. you don't have to use the oil on your hair at all :)

Cool! I'm in on this challenge! My starting pic is in my siggie. I already have the powders and oil in my conditioner. I use shikakai, brahmi powder along with alma and vatica oil. I will pre poo and scritch 2X a week. How often do we show progress?

I did the yogurt treatment tonight. I used brahmi and bhrigaraj powder, coconut and bhrigaraj oil and I added honey...only because I add honey pretty much to everything. I'm not in LOVE with the treatment. It was ok, my hair is soft, feels strong. Maybe I can tweek it a little more to fall in love. It's worth it (even tho it's messy). I give it...3 stars (out of 5).

NatrlChallenge, I got you.

I guess I didn't talk about reveal. No revealing until the end of the challenge. Surprise yourself, enjoy the health of your hair and be surprised at the length at the end of the challenge.

I will massage my scalp with Dabur Amla oil to my hair tonight, then apply brahmi and amla powder in the morning. After 30 minutes, I will rinse out with water then apply Hairveda's Moist Condition 24/7 and sit under the steamer for 40 minutes. Not sure how I will style afterwards though - maybe some twists.

Yesterday I pre-pood with Amla Oil, Used an Amla Powder paste, and DC with ORS Replenishing Conditioner. That equals seriously moisturized hair. I absolutely love how my hair feels, I have some serious hand in the hair syndrome right now.

Henna'd ayer on Vatika oil prepoo'd hair, DC w/Sitrinillah infused w/amla and brahmi. Rinsed out w/fenugreek & hibiscus infused green tea.

Cowashed today with Moist 24/7, mosturized w/Afroveda Coco Latte Hair Mask and Numilk Neroli mositurizer. Sealed w/Vatika oil, Afroveda Shikakai Growth Elixir on my scalp.

Count me in!

On Friday, I bought:
-Shikakai/Amla/Neem powders
-Vatika Oil
-Coconut oil

I made a paste with the powders and I applied to dry hair on Friday, left it on for 20 minutes, then rinsed. I plan to do this before every deep condition. I hope to start massaging my scalp daily with a Vatika oil and rosemary oil mixture. I use the coconut oil as a sealer.

I prepooed with Alma Oil and did an overnight DC with brahmi, maka, and shikakai mixed with my Tresemme condish as usual. I'm addicted to this!

Tonight I massaged my scalp with bhrigaraj oil and did a tea rinse with bhringaraj and brahmi powder. I'm DCing with heat as I type with AOHSR, AO Jojoba Desert condish (which is the truth I must say), coconut oil and honeyquat.
