2016 Wig Challenge

Hi Ladies!

I would like to join this challenge except I plan to sew the perimeter of the wig down for added security. Does that qualify for this challenge or is that more like a sew in?

 Unfortunately, your method is more like a sew in. We are considering wigs as something you can put on and take off daily to access your hair.

Ok, thanks for answering!

I have made wigs a part of my reggie for a while now but I have never sewn them down. I want to try something new/different this year.

Do you know if there is a sew in challenge? I have searched but can't seem to find anything for this year.

I haven't seen a 2016 Sew-In Challenge yet.

I'll be back to my own hair tomorrow. The wig was uncomfortable, and although it was cute, it made me look like someone's sassy auntie.

I am someone's sassy auntie, but I don't look like it (not even 40 yet) and am not ready to start. I'll break it out again in 25 years. :toocool:

Today was CoWash Saturday for me.

  • Pre-poo'd overnight with my AVJ spritz and Hairitage Butter on my ends.
  • This morning, I applied a mixture of Curly Kinks DC, HydroQuench Honey Pineapple Hibiscus DC & Brahmi Powder and went under my heat cap for an hour.
  • Cleansed my scalp with CC Natural's Scalp Scrub and CW'd my length with Honey Handmade's Knot Going Bananas, used Garnier Triple Nutrition as a reconstructor & rinsed out 80% of the V05 Strawberry & Cream.
  • LCOB'd with L = Aphogee Curlific, C = Treluxe Untie the Knot, O = Orofluido on length & Sunny Isle JBCO on edges & B = Hairitage Horsetail Butter on scalp & Siamese Twists Pracaxi Peach ButterCreme on ends.
My hair is so spoiled, but it's ready for another week of wiggin' it!

1. Like this post. Done.

2. How long do you plan on wigging it?: The entire year. I will get my cornrows taken down and re-done every 7 weeks. Next take down id February 10th. I might flat iron sometime in June.

3. How will you take care of your hair while using the wig/phony pony?:
Wash about every 2 weeks or sooner if I feel any itching. Deep condition with Oyin honey hemp conditioner, moisturize with Qhemet Burdock Root Butter Cream and seal with Jojoba oil. Moisturizing every 2 days or if it seems dry. Spray Shescentit moisture mist if I can't do the full moisturizing routine.

4. Natural, Relaxed, Texlaxed, Transitioning:
Natural

5. Current Hair Length:
Not sure but not yet BSL

6. 2016 Hair Length Goal:
MBL with beautiful thickness and nice, full edges.

Same from previous thread; will try to re-upload.

What wig cap are you ladies using? I use the regular BSS ones and my stylist mentioned that they're drying.

Also any recommendations for what to wear on my head at night? My silk scarf always comes off now that my hair is cornrowed down and I don't have the volume of my natural hair. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

2. How long do you plan on wigging it?: At least 6 months but likely the entire year. I'm style challenged.

3. How will you take care of your hair while using the wig/phony pony?: Wash, protein treat and deep condition weekly; moisturize and seal weekly; wear hair in braids or plaits under wig.

4. Natural, Relaxed, Texlaxed, Transitioning: Natural

5. Current Hair Length: Somewhere between neck length and shoulder length.

6. 2016 Hair Length Goal: I just want to end the year with more hair than I started the year with.

7. Starting Photo: I'll come back when I figure out how to blur my face.

I recently ordered Beshe Drew I and Drew II, in addition to a glueless lace front wig. After getting the lace front wig cut and styled, I plan to wear that during the wig and Drew I on Fridays and weekends. If the lace front wig works well and I can figure out lace front wig technology (whatever I can do to make the wig look most natural), then I will invest in a more expensive wig with a silk top.

Up until now, I have been getting cap wigs made every 6-8 weeks.

Currently loving my unit. I wan wearing an ozone wig in Anita. Its a little shiny but it just looks like I got a silk press. I've been getting so many compliments. I plan on getting my first human hair lace front next month.

I don't have any because I rarely wear my hair out anymore. I'm not proud of my hair. We're not divorced, just currently separated.

After plaiting my hair, I baggy'd and did my Day 7 inversion for the month, so I'm ready for another week of wiggin' it.

What is the most y'all would spend on a human hair, custom made full lace wig? My friend and I went to a place the other day...the wigs were really nice but the wigs start at 600
