I guess I'll be joining this challenge... I forgot about using aloe vera juice after my relaxer. I try to use it for about a week after my relaxer to sooth any kind of irritation it may have caused.

Did 3 rinses with AVJ tonight... one before I washed my hair and two during my shampooing. I usually shampoo 3 times for my first wash after my relaxer so I just soaked my head in between washes, added shampoo and let it sit there for a while.

@CodeRed

Welcome and we are happy to have you.:welcome:

I had a question about AVJ, upthread, so let me read your response to see if you answered my question in your post.

ETA: So you're rinsing it out? I've been rinsing it out too (actually forgot to use it yesterday), but was wondering if it can/should or should not be left in?

I'll continue rinsing it out. I don't need no setbacks in 2016

I've tried leaving it in and my hair did not appreciate that at all :lol: It makes my hair crunchy/kind of gummy. I also tried mixing it in with deep conditioners/leaving it on and layering the deep conditioner with it an my hair didn't shine as much. I only use it after relaxers because my scalp really, really likes it. The one time I had a burn in recent memory I rinsed with AVJ and left it on for about an hour... I did that for a couple of deep conditioning sessions and my skin looked like there was never anything there. It was crazy how fast it healed up... I wish I had known about it when I had burns on other parts of my body in the past. That stuff is incredible on skin.

Used HH Knot in My Fro Joe to cowash yesterday.
Used Claudie's Hair Tea Spritz as my leave in/liquid as part of my LOC routine today

@IDareT'sHair - yes'm I'd like to! I'm currently in braids until mid Feb but I do a final scalp rinse w/green tea every wash day which is two weeks. When the braids are out for 10 days I will use home-made clay/powders to wash and condition. I must admit that I have a nice little stash that I'm looking forward to showing off :saythat:

So I will lurk for the next few weeks and join when the braids are out and I can post a starting pic and use the products. Meantime continue scalp tea rinses and start spritzing braids with black tea/AVG.

@grow

:welcome:

Welcome Ms. Grow we would love to have you.
Thanks @IDareT'sHair !

I just sprayed my scalp with black tea, then evoo, then put conditioner dc mask on my hair shaft with some pure glycerine in order to take full advantage of the humidity.

My scalp is tingling from the tea!

Do most of you just make a full pot of tea and store it in the fridge for future uses, or do you make a new pot every time you do a rinse? I know that coffee and tea keep in the fridge, but I was just wondering. Tia

@grow

I Do!:yep:

I make pot which usually last me about 3-4 rinses. After the tea cools, I transfer it in individual Plastic Containers and store them in the Fridge.

Wash Day, I'll take out a container allow it to become room temp and have it waiting.

That sounds like a great plan, @IDareT'sHair ! Thanks, I will try that, too:-)

Also, thanks OP for posting the info on the teas!

Now I plan to make a new pot with both black and green in it....!

.......might throw in some slippery elm and burdock root, too.....

@grow, I make enough tea for 3-4 wash days. Unlike IDTH, I'm bootleg and just leave my tea in an old pickle jar in the fridge and just pour what I need in a spray bottle. Lol.

As an aside, I have several different teas but want to add some of the unknown to me teas mentioned in this thread.

Thanks for breaking it down really well, @meka72 ! (Lol @IDareT'sHair )

I recently tried using a spray bottle too because I'm heavy handed and find that if I go overboard with the tea, it makes my hair hard.
The little spray bottle gives me just the right dose.
I like the glass storage even though I've been storing it in a plastic water bottle.
Now I'm wondering if the plastic might "react" with the ingredients because I've read that certain liguids can become less pure and "react" with plastic...i.e. Oils, essential oils......
