1st LHCF roller set

Thanks to the wonderful information provided to me by Dlewis, Pokahontas, and other wonderful women I completed my first rollerset since I have been a member of LHCF and I have found my staple style. The wonderful thing that I love about this board is that ideas are put out there and you can try them if you want and tweak them to suit your own needs. For the first time last night I used diluted, already made lottabody (I used alot of water thanks to Pokahontas' advice) and the curls came out wonderful. I used the paper on the ends of my hair and they kept my ends nice and calm while they were being rolled, I had no frizzies. The wrapping didn't work well for me because I like the curls of a rollerset but I wanted to try it. When I unwrapped it was a bit too puffy at the roots for me so its up in a twist.

I love my rollerset out come, my hair is soft and full, which I love.....but its all about trial and error. You sometimes have to try the advice that you are given to see if it works for your hair or not. I can definitely show length now using the roller set wrap method though!!!

Good for you, girl...glad it worked out for you.

Now, sounds like you did not go through with the tex/relaxer this weekend. Did you have a change of heart?

Congrats!!! did you take pics??? I know it sounds crazy but i'm soooo scared of trying the roller set again:confused: the last time, I looked like a big hard crunchy poofy mess. I have stalked pokahantas album so i'm getting more confident in tryng. i also like divastyle's flat ironing after her set.

Girl I used a mild, pictures in my fotki, but all it did was make my hair not tangle when I was, other than that its the exact same texture as it was before. I believe that next time that I am going to use regular but I am not doing another one until probably August/September timeframe.

No pictues because I am in the HYH challenge until 7/4/07. However, here are some key things that I did and it turned out beautiful and soft. I put a little lotta body in a 6oz spray bottle and filled the rest with water. I used leave in conditioner on my wet hair before setting and silk thermal spray by elastra. I sprayed the roots and ends with the diluted lotta body and when I was done drying, applied more moisturizer and oil combination to hair. If you use too much lottabody your hair is going to be hard but really dilute it and its not as hard.

OMG! I completed my first rollerset last night too. I came onto the board to post a new thread. You beat me:lol: . My hair is uneven so I had to roller different ways, but it made my hair nice and soft and shiney too from the coconut oil. I rolled my hair tight around the rollers so my roots were some what straight but I had some difficulty to pinning the roller tight. But I guess trial & error. I'll try to find some longer clamps. I love my curls too but I did a cross wrap: since I still had coconut oil and dents in my hair it came out denty but I still loved the way it felt.

DLewis, I just looked at ur rollerset (101)....you close the clamp on two rollers to hold it in place? my fault is when I roll it tight and I put the clamp on my hair at the scalp and roller and when i release my roller becomes untight:( and me-no-want-that

That used to be my problem as well but if you clip both sides it stays tight. When I become more advanced I will move to Dlewis' style but I found that pinning both sides keep my rollers pretty tight and in place. I used twice as many but thank God for the Sally's card! LOL

I loved the way that mine felt as well which is why I am going to continue doing it. Tonight I am going to try to revive my curls because I don't like the flat look, usually when I do this I am successful so pray for me, but I am going to use my sponge rollers and break the curls back LOL

I have really thick hair and in order to get my roots as straight as possible I did about 1 inch sections. So I used about 26 rollers, I have a medium sized pink rollers. So that was be about 52 clips! I brought the ones that were in the professional box, lower self, and they weren't that expensive at all. They held my rollers though really well.

Wow, you are so pretty. Well, I"m glad that you are happy, that's whats important, right?

Aww you ladies are too sweet...and you are both gorgeous as well....

yeah I am loving the results but probably will still end up wearing my hair curly most of the time.

That's great girl! I'm glad the roller set came out good. You are so right, it's all about trial and error and if you don't try you'll never know. That's why I love this board, there's so many creative ideas here and I appreciate that everyone shares them.

Ya know, I not long ago did a roller set with Lacio Lacio and man I was blown away! I don't know what's in that stuff but my hair was one big shiny bling bling! I would've never tried this if it wasn't for the suggestions here.

Aww, thanks girl! I'm glad to hear some of the things in my album are helping you. I really put a lot of time into it so it's good to hear sometimes.
