i'm so happy with my progress!!
you can read more about my story in my fotki, but the short of it all is i started really growing my hair seriously in august of last year. before i was "growing" it on the basis of being natural and had setbacks galore.
anyway, i was attempting to hide my hair all year with my lace wig and actually go until jan 2009 to get a blowout after the new year, but i was so tired of this thing. the wig is pretty, but i wanted my hair out! so sunday, i washed and blow dried my hair and that was a chore so i plaited it up and went to bed, and last night when i got home i went ahead and finished what i started and flatironed my hair and took pics. i had not seen my hair straight since jan/feb or so??
my goal is bsl. i hope to be there by late summer next year!
i still have to baby my ends a bit more since they are a bit dry. i also didn't flat iron my hair bone straight since i wanted to be sure i didn't use too much heat, esp on my ends; so they are still in their semi natural state in the pics.
one of the best things about this journey is that i finally tamed and grew out my kitchen!!! i remember when i was working with queen and i saw her nape. i didn't say anything to her about it, but i remember thinking girl you need to tell me how you get your nape that long and healthy looking!! so i decided to pay more attention to my kitchen. as of recent, i started doing the braid method about three months ago after i saw it in mook's album. i no longer have those little curly bb's! yay! my hair is 4b in the back so it will kink up and give you that bb look. so i grew it out and now ALL of my nape brushes up with no little curlies left. my nape is sooo long. the shortest part is acutally right before my tee shirt collar (i didn't put the text in the right place as it's a bit lower than where i marked but you can see it in the pic). i know the longest part looks like i pulled from more than the nape, but it's not! i barely pulled hair right above my "short section", it just so thick at the roots.
