1 Year Progress Pics...SL to BSL!! (Pic Heavy)

Wow! You made it in only a year's time! Congrats! That's some progress there. Do you take any vitamins? I saw your regimen, but just curious.

OMG.... I feel so inspired right now. It's been heavily on my mind to go natural. I want past bra strap length hair.

I am so inspired to start my natural journey now for a year! My hair is about 3 inches from my bra strap. I think my hair texture is a lot like yours.

Wow!

Congratulations!

sooo.....ready to change that screen name?

LOL

Congratulations on making it past BSB!

Thanks...LOL funny...I know right. I should change it huh? When I created it, I was hopeful after looking at some many fotki's, but it still seemed soo far off. Now I'm here..woo hoo!

Thanks!! As for vitamins, I've been trying to my multivitamin consistently for the past couple months. Before then, I would take it only occasionally. I take GNC's Be Whole Multivitamin.

Oh goodness! thats ALOT for one year, you did good :yep:. You hair looks so soft and springy :) Good luck on the rest of your transition.

That's great! And even more inspiring to know I don't have to pop a gazillion vitamins to reach my goals. I just take a GNC multivitamin too, but I'm not very consistent lately. I was just looking at some old pics the other day when my hair was relaxed and how fast it grew. I was thinking there were a lot of times I didn't take any vitamins at all and it still grew pretty well. At least at the average rate.

Thanks. I know what you mean. I just like to keep it simple. When I take my vitamins consistently I try increasing my water intake as well.

Looks good! I can't wait to see it when you straigthen it!

Thanks sis! I know, I can't wait to see it straightened either lol.

I never get tired of seeing transitioning hair. Its amazing to see the difference between the relaxed and natural hair.

At any rate, your hair looks great and your progress is inspiring.

great progress. Has the transition been hard?

Thanks ms.blue! No, my transition hasn't been hard. I've learned what products work for my hair and I've learned how to work with my hair instead of fighting against it. Detangle even goes well because I do oil rinses and use oils with I deep condition so it makes detangling my hair so much easier. Protective styles have been great for rentention and with my transition.

Thanks! I agree, it amazes me too the difference between relaxed and natural textures on transitioning hair. My hair is so much thicker now..I love it.

Your hair is beautiful, love your natural texture. Have you been trimming away slowly? Or have you not trimmed at all? Great progress!

Aww thanks! I haven't trimmed at all. I lightly dusted once or twice, but it wasn't even a 1/4 inch taken off. :) Long as my ends are healthy, I want to hang on to my length as long as I can. Once I reach WL I'll maintain there and trim until all the relaxed ends are gone.

Lovely progress.

I'm aiming for 3 years too! I'm at 16 months and itching to chop but to make my natural hair even I would have to cut off lots so I'm patiently waiting.

I'll be looking out for our updates.

Wow, what inspiring progress! Your curls are beautiful. You've motivated me, I'm trying to get like you by the end of the year with sew-ins :yep:

Awesome hair - love watching the two textures. Thanks for sharing! How much length of new growth is that?

Thanks Spiffy. Congrats to you for making it 16 months! So how long do you plan to transition for?

BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!

Thanks MummysGirl! You had an awesome long term transition! You're hair looks great.

Aww thanks!! From your pics looks like you're already BSL, or very close to it? I love your new install and enjoyed your pics in your thread. I've done 2 installs with Halleys Curls Creole Wavy this year. Is the HC Miami Relaxed easy to maintain?

Thanks Bnster! I haven't measured recently, but my guess would be 6 inches. My new growth at my nape is shoulder length stretched.

Great Job!!! I am still thinking about transitioning I like the way you are doing it.

Thanks Missgirl! You're hair is so pretty! Since my hair has never been past SL before (well..grazed APL once for like 2 months after having first child), I didn't want to lose the length I've retained since I began my hhj. So it's not bothering me to do a long term transition. I get to enjoy my hair, and retain length along the way.

When I first joined the board and was thinking of going natural, I thought the only option was to do the BC. But obviously that's not the case. :) I'd say try stretching your relaxers more, and learn how to make your new growth managable. Than way, if and when you decide to transition, you'll already know what works to make your new growth easier to maintain and not get frustrated with it.

Aww...thanks! Glad I can share and motive others as so many women on here have done the same for me! :) I saw your siggy says 2 years and 9 months since last relaxer..is that right? If so, congrats to you! How long do you plan on transitioning for? Please share tips/advice etc...I can learn from you. :)

Yes that's right. I cut a lot of the relaxed hair off in 2008 and now I am about 90% natural. The relaxed hair on my ends that is left will remain until I get past BSL. Then I will slowly trim.

Even though I stopped relaxing back then, I still had very poor styling techniques :wallbash:, esp heat styling. I am just now getting to the point where I am protective styling more and not using heat at all. Now I should be able to retain the length. I bun daily and use sew-ins when I get tired of the bun.
