This daily moisturizer soundsMy Hair is too short and I don't know how to Braid,so........I have a Men's Durag, (Satin Cap)
So....I apply a Daily Creamy Moisturizer, and I seal with Oil. i.e. Castor, Wheat Germ, EFA (Essential Fatty Acids), or Nexxus Biotin. And Cover with Durag.![]()
Wish we coulda chosen more than one option.
Really useful responses. I used to wear a wig a few years ago and I baggied underneath, which was super healthy for my hair. I retained a ton of growth. However, baggying for too long can cause over-conditioning and a musty smell, so I don't want to go that route this time. I will only baggy under a wig if I am making short trips, running quick errands, but not for an entire day.
I do know how to cornrow, and I am surprised by how many people do not. Despite that, with SO much new growth, braiding is too much manipulation, plus it hurts when I have the two textures. I plan to box braid instead. I bought the wave cap, so I'll try that method.
Maybe, I'll try out some braid sprays.
For my hair, I think a break from manipulation and the elements is necessary. How inspiring it is to hear yours benefitted from your wig regimen. Thanks for sharing.Braids!!
I've been wearing my hair in cornrows underneath my wig since September! I take it down every week or every other week and deeeep condition, shampoo, condition, and re-cornrow to slap iut back underneath the wig. I went to get it straightened (used my pass for the Bootcamp Challenge!) for the first time since September (I mean no heat since then...) and it looks and FEELS amazing!
Now I'm trying to decide if I'm going to wear my hair out and just take extra care of it without the wig and then bun most of the time, or keep the wig...![]()
Awww, Deltagyrl, so glad that this thread inspired you.Inspired by this thread so I went out and bought my first lacefront. I'm not glueing or taping jack to my head though.
I'm washing, dcing, braiding and wearing a wig cap under this puppy.
Maybe I'll wig it for a few months?
Thanks y'all!
I use a men's sport skull cap as well. I can go at least 2 days between moisturizing my natural hair when wearing it- that's how good it works at helping to retain moisture
ETA: I put my hair in four plaits, cross them in an X pattern across my head, and pin them down
Thanks, but how do you braid your hair like in your avatar? I tried once to braid my hair in a circle, but I can't get my hands positioned to continue the braid around my hair, if that makes any sense. When I get up around my ear I don't know how to keep braiding underhand.
I chose other because I put my hair in medium sized twists and put on a durag / silk scarf then wig it![]()
