Do you comb your hair throughout the week, or is that a weeks worth of shedding? i'm glad you find it funny, i would be sad, or are you laughing because you're sad?

That is a nice little pile. But your hair is still gorgeous. I know if I saw that much shedding I would probably freak out a little bit, even if I go for a long time without dentangling. So this is a week's amount of shedding? Have you tried using garlic?

That's about right for me too and my child is almost 13 months old. I've had to be careful about how much comes out in the shower though cause I've stopped up the drain 3 times now.

Edit: I've tried the garlic rinse a few times and am still shedding...oh well

Are you all still taking prenatals? This is what freaks me out about being prego- the post partum shedding.

:lachen::lachen:lol.. yes Ladies.. I'm laughing because I know when people talk about shedding it typically does not look like mine.

I wash and detangle only once a week with my denman. I don't think I would want to do it more often than that. I would like to do a length check and go to a salon to straighten it... but NOPE... I might come back home bald.. lol..

I've done the garlic too.. haven't seen much help in that regard. Still taking my prenatal vitamins. Occasionally I take a hair skin & nail vitamin in place of the prenatals.

No heat- and I twist my hair after every wash and leave it until the next wash day. I wet my hair daily in shower and apply moisturizer and oil.. because I have the driest hair on the planet... lol..

Has this affected your edges. My son is 6 months and my edges are thin because of the shedding.

I am not even sure if I should change my regimen...Good Luck

My daughter is 13 months and I've had quite a bit of shedding as well since she was 6 months. If your hair is not thinning or balding I wouldn't worry about it too much. I think that most of the time shedding has to do with internal factors so all the garlic in the world really wouldn't make a difference. The fact that you only detangle once a week probably has a lot to do with it too. Your hair is very pretty though!

OMGosh - I just took my cornrows out after 4 weeks and I had that much shed hair. The hair left on my head felt like velcro. I am wearing a wig as a protective measure during the winter months but I feel like I am doing more damage. :wallbash: I took my cornrows down, sectioned my hair in 4 and clarified once, rinsed, deep conditioned with AO (can't remember which one), rinsed and cornrowed again (with leave in, Qhemet amla heavy cream and JBCO). While I was in cornrows I tried to spritz every night and baggie. Every morning I would let it get damp in the shower, and moisturize and seal my edges for the wig cap. My hair just seems worse off now. I apologize if I took over your thread with my whining.

Since you detangle once a week. could this be the hair that you shed daily? because is normal to shed up to 100 hairs a day?

It does look like a lot...have you tried garlic pills or garlic products

Wow that's a lot, you must have tons of hair, cause I think I would definitely be bald. My temples had gotten pretty bad, they are coming back though, slowly but surely. The garlic actually worked for me, but I had started taking it too late. Finding hair in my butt surely got me on fire to take them.

YES!!! and they've actually filled in... but are still much thinner than the rest of my head

I was just about to ask why are you laughing! Also to be considered is your length so your shed is alot longer than mine would be and therefore would be a bigger clump. I hope it curbs soon though, kids will take the best everytime, body and hair! LOL :lachen:

That is what my shed hair ball looked like 6 months after my daughter was born. It got so bad that I had two nearly bald spots along my edges. It didn't worry me too much though because I shed like five hairs the entire time I was pregnant so I fully expected my postpartum shedding to be a beast. It stopped before my daughter turned 1 and my edges recovered quite well.

My DD is 8 Month old and I have had the worst shedding..My mother even noticed but did not want to say anything to hurt my feelings...I think I have tried everything and no results...I know how you feel...I feel bald..my edges are really thin....YOUR hair still looks thick and vibrant...I wouldn't worry to much unless you start notice a big contracts in thickness.

Some say there's nothing you can do about pp shedding but I beg to differ. I started experiencing it when my daughter was almost 4 months old. I began to use Alter Ego's Cren and it helped tremendously.

I hear cinnamon oil is good too.

Just a thought. Good luck ladies.

kinda looks like my pile :( scares the bejeezus outta me...ive tried garlic pills n garlic shampoo and my lil mama is 10mths. My temples have come back now but this hair thing really stressed me out..which im sure is causing more shedding..i ALMOST regret taking my locs down now....ALMOST

I remember parting my hair in my usual four and combing through the front left and getting the same amount of hair that I usually get from my ENTIRE head. I was already suffering from postpartum depression and this set me over the edge. I just started bawling in the shower. This was probably 6 months after my son was born as well. I had a real bald spot which is still recovering from the shedding and breakage from my wig cap.

the last time i remember having that much shedding was when i used a denman brush and i was not pleased. i know folks on here love those brushes but for me it's a :nono:

when i detangled a week later with my jilbere wide tooth comb i had only half as much shed hair :look:

I have to try that comb. My denman only has 4 rows of bristles.. I modified it after reading another thread..

I remember going through PP shedding when my daughter was around 3 months old. But, mine didn't last that long - it might've lasted for a month but not longer than that. I think what stopped it was my intake of protein. I started drinking a protein shake once or twice a day, because by that time I had started going back to the gym. I didn't drink the shake for the purpose of controlling the shedding, but I did notice that my shedding stopped.

Your hair looks great despite your shedding. I guess as long as you don't have any bald spots and your hair doesn't look "scalpy" when doing your twists you're fine.

My hair naturally sheds alot - no product /diet /supplement change has been able to effect this. I figure as long as I don't notice any bald spots I'm good.

Remember, on average, people shed 100-150 hairs per day. So, if you're only detangling once a week wouldn't that amount of shed hair per week be normal?:yep:

Your denman may be the culprit. I notice that when I use the brush, more hair comes out.:nono: The comb may be slow and clunky, but I lose less hair. Maybe you need to detangle more than once a week. Sometimes our hair dictates the regimen we have.:look: I know for my transitioning hair, it needs to be done twice a week or else I get the mound of hair you have there and my hair is mostly relaxed. I wonder how my natural hair will respond when it grows out. I hope all works out for you. Your hair still looks gorgeous, though.:yep:
