I was reading lots of things yesterday about cones, build-up etc...

I was wondering about how you all clarify your hair. Like, your technique in the shower.

People usually say; shampoo is for the scalp, conditioner is for the hair, however, you also get product buildup on your strands, not just your scalp right?

Do you all clarify your hair strands as well? How do you this exactly?
Thanks!

I cleanse the scalp and squeeze the length of the hair. Thats it. I still do not want the squeaky feeling (although sometimes I do), and I only use a little. If it still feels off, I may use a bit more on a second wash and finger through. Or sometimes I just wash one time and leave on for a min or two.

I Usually Rinse Hair Very Well (with Clear Water First) Then apply either the Clarifying 'Poo (or Conditioner, I Have & Use Both, at different times). Sometimes, I will just use the Clarifying Conditioner and Co-Wash.

Let Sit on Hair Work into a Lather and then Rinse.

It Usually takes one time for Total Cleansing.:yep:

^^^ Same thing here. I give my hair a good lather of ORS Aloe Rid Poo and this strips all of the build up from my hair. This is the only time I use shampoo.

I clarify and chelate about two times a month with a very gentle shampoo that does not strip my hair or dry it out. I finger massage it (the shampoo) onto my scalp and then work it a little on the length of the hair. I follow up with a shikakai shampoo bar with the same method and it's all good. Clean, strong, shiny and detangled hair. :wink2:

Many people use clarifying/chelating shampoos to also remove buildup from the hair. I have found it to serve no purpose to use a clarifying poo on the scalp only, as a regular poo can do the same without the harsh stripping of natural oils. Also, I, and many others, have found products to work better on hair that is regularly chelated or clarified.

I use Pantene Pro-V Purity Clarifying Shampoo on my hair and scalp once a month. I do just one application and rinse. I follow that with CON green label poo (one app & rinse). Then, I do my conditioners. Pantene Purity doesn't leave my hair with that "stripped" feeling, as I used to use Suave Clarifying poo, and it was way too strong. I only use shampoo once per month, regardless of how many washes I may do as needed (they're usually condish only).

I like to 'Clarify' if it is my first time using a New Product.:yep: To apply to a total clean slate to 'test' it's effectivenss.

I also like to Clarify before Applying Henna/Indigo.

For Me, and My Hair, I have found that it grabs the Henna Stain & Indigo alot better when applied to totally Clean Hair.

I focus on the scalp initially then I work some down the lengths and leave it for a minute or two. This leaves my hair and scalp clean and not stripped. I never lather twice when I chelate/clarify.

Yeah I do this too, it's the best way to test how good a product is.

I'm glad this link is here. I don't clarify enough. I try to do it once a month. I rinse the hair saturating with water. Apply clarifying shampoo to scalp work into a later then put a little in my hair and apply to hair. I usually only apply once then rinse throughly. Im currently using Giovanni tea tree triple treat. I've had it for months (cause I only use it monthly). I get get results afterward, if I have a hair problem (usualy breakage or build up) it's fixed.

I think Once a Month is Good:grin: I try to every 4-6 Weeks.

This summer when I was Slapping on the Gel, Serum etc.....I tried to Clarified Twice A Month.:look:

I clarify once a month. I wet my hair, then I apply clarifying poo to my scalp and my hair...lather up, rinse, then I proceed with my regular wash.

ITA w/ this whole post. I do the same thing w/ V05 Kiwi Lime Squeeze Clarifying Shampoo. I put oil on the ends of each section before I start shampooing.

I now clarify weekly b/c I detangle on dry hair w/ my leave-in conditioner & oil.

My questions is this could you use say a Neutralising and Chelating Shampoo to clarify?

I have a huge litre bottle of Mizani Phormula 7 to use up and as such I am wondering if I could use it up for Clarifying purposes?

TIA ladies

so you just apply the henna mix on clarified, stripped hair?
that doesn't scare you?

I shampoo/clarify whenever I'm about to use heat, I dilute a 5p size (dime size) in a bowl and pour concentrating on my scalp I then work the suds down the length, works great. And helps when I do a DC especially after using serums etc

This is how I use it once a month! :)

How are you all lathering up you hair? You all are not bunching it up are you?

No, no bunching or crunching here...

I rinse and then I put the shampoo in my hair rub hands palms together apply little to my hair then the rest to my scalp.

I rub my scalp and move my hair in between my two hands palms together again going back and forth.

after I rinse the clarifier out and shampoo with my Hair One shampoo I comb with that in my hair. :)

Regular shampoo to me is just for the scalp, and clarifying shampoo is for the scalp and strands to remove all the buildup. I just clarified yesterday after a good 4 or 5 month hiatus from clarifying. I shampooed twice and my hair felt soooo weird and lay down really flat, but once I put my conditioner in, my hair came back to life and now my curls are poppin!!

Not at all.:nono: I clarified, then I co-washed with something very moisturizing, applied Henna to damp freshly co-washed hair.

Proceeded with the Henna/Indigo Process. Rinse out with KBB Silky and another Moisturizing Conditioner from Jasmine. Applied GPB, EVOO and L'anza and got under the Steamer for about 45 minutes.

Perfect Results. No Dryness. Henna took fantastically. Next wash day will again focus on Moisture. HTHs.

I use avalon lemon and shea clarifying shampoo every 4 weeks. Its sulfate free and my hair feels clean and never stripped. I follow with elasta qp creme conditioning shampoo and fortifying conditioner. And I start at my scalp and pull through my strands with my fingers once. Never scrunching my hair up or disturbing it too much.

if your on a budget like me i use 98 cent baking soda mixed with water and put it on my hair and scalp and baggy it and keep it in for like 3 hours then rinse. my hair feels AMZING and i keep all my natural oils :)
