My ends look so shaggy, and they don't lay down, after I straighten my hair, they just kind of stick out.

I just cut my ends last month, and it is not heat damage because this is the second time I've striaghtened my hair in two years, and I always use a heat protectant, and never use full heat.

How can i get my hair to laydown?

from the pics imo it just looks like you need a good trim. are your scissors super sharp that you used to trim with?

What was the temperature setting of your flat iron and straightening method? Perhaps you aren't using a high enough temperature or your prepping procedure prior to straightening can be improved. Otherwise, your ends don't look unhealthy per se, just uneven and that's okay. It's very rare that your hair will grow evenly all over or at the same pace. If you haven't found a considerable amount of split ends or knots, I wouldn't worry too much about trimming.

I have a maxiglide and I used settings 4-5 . I haven't noticed any split ends or knots:look: great, because I really didn't want to cut my hair again.

I've been having the same EXACT problem. my hair is relaxed and it looked the same on the ends after i trimmed. I have no other reason, except, maybe this cold arctic dry air that sort of came out of nowhere. So, I've been bumping up my moisture and DCing and been baggying my whole head like crazy.

Take a fine tooth/ rat tail comb and chase it with the flat iron as you comb through your hair.

I don't have a video or pic, I know blackmasterpiece actually taped a comb to the side of her flat iron to use the method.

I agree with DesiRae about the chase method. I'll be trying it the next time I decide to straighten but I'll be using this
or this

both can be ordered from Folica.com.

I agree with the poster who asked about porosity. My ends used to be like that and dusting plus Roux porosity control helped A LOT.

i know you said you already had a trim but you might need more cut off.

for the longest i would get a trim and when i would go home and flat iron my hair my ends still looked ate up and i just thought that's what my hair did.

but then i went to a stylist who told me that people with curly hair should get their hair cut dry because when its wet you cant really tell what's damaged and needing to be cut. she then flat ironed my hair and cut. i went home and a few days later washed and flat ironed my self and my hair looked great...

just a thought.. i dunno

ITA I think its ur method OP use a little serum and chase the flat iron with a fine tooth comb!..... allows me to get smooth ends without using higher heat

I agree with the ladies on the chase method AND The porosity control. I also do not blow dry my ends, only the roots and shaft of the hair. I use to constantly cut my ends because I thought thats what it was that made my ends raggedy. I was baggying and everything.

1) I now add Porosity Control to my deep conditioners.

2) When I flat iron, I dab castor oil on my 80% dried ends.

3) I part my hair in 1 inch size sections and with either a fine tooth comb or a very tiny boar bristle brush, I run it down the shaft of my hair followed closely behind with my flat iron.

No more raggedy ends, just smooth and soft (thanks to the castor oil) ends.
