I used to use this and I used the super version. It definitely came out a silky press. However, they changed the formula and it doesn't give the same results. I would not recommend it anymore.

I :love4: this stuff! When I use to go to the shop my beautician use to use this on my hair. My hair was always flowin! I have a bottle of this when I do my own hair and I love the results.

Oh Good!!! ^^^^^ So can you tell me more? Do you spray it on damp hair, then Blow dry????

Or spray then iron?

TIA...

Yes, I spray it on freshly washed and conditioned hair and then I blow dry my hair. You will really love the results. Your hair will be soft and have shine to it, I don't put anything else on my hair afterwards because it does that good of a job :yep:.

Bump, bump, bump! Who else uses this? I'm trying to find the ingredients. Also does it protect from heat?

Funny this thread was bumped. i have been looking for the straight effects for a long time. This has gotten me through a year stretch before but noticed it has been replaced with this product. Any more reviews?

I changed my mind. I found the correct super version again and I still think it's the bomb. I almost bought it for old time's sake but I really don't need it anymore. I used this consistently in the past and I would compare it now to the way a person's hair swings and shines after a BKT treatment (from what I've seen).

WHats the correct super version as I am looking for the product that this one has replaced. I used it on roller sets while stretching

I watched crownofhisglory video and she uses this when straightening her hair. I found at my local beauty supply and decided to give it a try. It made my scalp itch so bad. I had to wash my hair and I never got around to straightening my hair.

LUV IT!!! Use the regular if i just want it straight. Super for bone straight. Been using off and on since 1986

Open it, smell it. It's almost vinegar-like. And you should use it sparingly. The directions say saturate...DO NOT DO THAT! 5-8 sprays throughout the hair and comb it through clean semi towel dried hair. Airdry/ hood dry whatever, and then use your hand dryer to stretch. Flat iron and don't add anything else

Can I use it then rollerset THEN press? Im really interested because i'm getting a press tommorow, so i want to buy it today or tommorow.

The old version you just had to sray on and roller set and it made the NG straight. I haven't tried this one. I don't want to use blow driers or press comb. ;( i wish i can find the old version

So I did a google search for the ingredients for this product, apparently it's been around for YEARS! Also,it's possible that it has gone by many names. Check out page 49 and 50 of this legal document asking the company to change the name and claims of it's products. Is this a Formaldehyde based product?

I found the following info:
Reccomendations: http://www.thisnext.com/item/13043B4A/Lustrasilk-Hair-Culture

INteresting...I used it when it was called straight effects about 5-6 years ago. I use to stretch 16-18 mnths with this stuff. i'll try the new one

I use it and love it! I have always used it under the name Hair Culture Solution. I section my hair into quarters, spray on the solution and just let it sit on my hair for 15 mins (if I have time). Then I blow dry on low until it is just slightly damp, then I apply my Chi or Cowboy Magic and complete blowdrying.I flat iron and my hair stays straight until I wash.
This product does not contain a heat protectant so that is why I begin blowdrying on low and apply a protectant before I fully dry and flat iron.

Well I just bought this off of ebay today. I find that most places online have shipping cost that are more expensive than the product. I purchased the super. I hope that it is as great as you all have said.

Ingredients: Deionized Water, Acetamide, propylene glycol, diazolidinyl urea, methylparaben, propylparaben, acetic acid, FD and C yellow no. 5, D and C Red number 33, fragrance.

Also be careful this product may cause skin irritation or hair thinning.

Check out this thread before use: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/archive/index.php/t-62973.html

The person talking about the thinning and breaking of her hair also mentioned that she was pressing weekly. So I dont know if the product actually caused the thinning.

Are the ingredients posted in this thread the old or the new formula? If they are of the new formula then what are the old ingredients so I can look for it? TIA!

I have not been succesful in finding this product anywhere, any online stores still sell it ?

How often are you ladies using this? I don't straighten often for fear of my hair not reverting but I know DH would like to see it silky and swinging more often. I've been contemplating buying the Mizani Thermasmooth system but this seems like a cheaper solution.

What say you?
