I think that's what confuses everyone. IMO texture (meaning degree of silkiness) trumps everything else.

that's the whole reason why its so confusing. It doesn't take into consideration texture (degree of silkiness as you stated) so somebody can fit the description of a 3B but if its "nappy" - for lack of a better term - then people say its 4A. Its very confusing and that's why I don't bother with it.

I read further on this last night, and I found that other "mainstream" haircare boards say that there are 3 factors that should be taken into account when comparing hair.

  1. Curl size (Andre)
  2. Texture (fine, medium or course)
  3. Porosity (ability to absorb and retain moisture)
What say you LHCF?

Your hair is fantastic. Don't worry about the type. Just keep doing whatever you've been doing.

I was going to say this earlier. I couldn't care less about hair typing and use it moreso for other people's sake or for a point of reference.

now if you told me I'm a kinky, nappy, course 3c/4a I'd believe it:look::look::lachen:

I think Andre (back then) designed this system based of the "curl patterns" of his white clientele (may have few differences in texture than Blawesome hair does:perplexed)

ITA, texture is more the determinant of how your hair behaves than curl size (Andre's typing system).

However, I think LHCF should stop using Andre to note texture--his system is for curl size only. Using it for texture is precisely what makes it confusing.

^^^ This there is no type 3 or type 4 texture.
