naturally fall? I mean like when it's in it's "resting state"? Does it stick up (think Don King) and you have to manipulate it to get it to "go limp", or is it able to lie limp on it's own? I'm only 4 months into my transition, but I've been pondering this alot lately. :look:

So what say you ladies?

My hair remains up and out, not down in it's resting state. My hair isn't long enough to "hang" and I doubt it ever will when my hair gets longer.

In it's resting state, it's generally down. On humid days, it poofs out a little. When it doesn't "fall" or feels a little stiff, that's when I know it's time for a wash.

Up a teeny bit then out a teeny bit more.

I doubt there will be much falling going on even when it does decide to grow!

At my current length most of my hair falls limp due to the fine/thin texture. At shorter lengths it was easy to achieve a Don King fro...
The longer my hair gets the more it hangs.

My hair sticks up in the middle through to the back.
The sides face outwards.
Im hoping that as it gets longer, it will fall down!!

My hair hangs down and out.
When I did my first BC in 05 it was super short and I was able to force it to stand up in a nice looking fro, but as it got longer it turned into this awful mushroom cloud.
I've come to grips with the fact that I'll never have a BAA.

Mine shrinks up like springs that are contracted and placed side and side and just sticks up:

If it's stretched from braids or twists and not combed out thus allowing the very light strands give weight to each other, then and only then does it flop:

If it's slightly stretched and combed out, it sticks up and out. It can also be smoothed down with hands or an elastic band to create a puff but the free part will stand up tall and proud:

My hair laughs in the face of gravity. :giggle: Even when pressed, it refuses to let gravity rule

If Flowerhair's hair is a barometer, then mine's a windsock coz I'm pretty sure the only thing that'd make it move is a strong wind and it'd stay pointed in the direction of that wind. I'm sure it'd keep that "vogue" until a different direction wind came along and then it'd faithfully let you know which way that new wind was going. :lachen:

BTW, I am 4B.

I find a lot of people like it to fall down. Why is that?

Not trying to be funny but I absolutely love my stick-up hair coz how else could I get a BAA that's bada$$? Or a nice puff like MizzBrit's? I love that I can do that and STILL get a floppy do by wearing a twistout. I love hair that is obedient and holds the do that you tell it to hold. Am I the only one that doesn't want hair that flops?

In the beginning it only grew up and out. Now that it has s gotten longer (and heavier) the weight has caused it to stay down as it grows up and out.

I hear you and I dont want hair that flops either. I love my hair however it falls esp my fro, but i know some styles that i want to have require my hair to fall down. My shrinkage seems to affect most of them. At the mo my braidouts/twistouts still results in my hair facing the sky.

I think the secret to that is to do them (braids/twists) smaller. The downside to doing them smaller is the wave isn't seen from far but it can be seen close up. If you did small twists or braids, they'd stretch your hair, and then if you undid them and didn't fluff them out, the weight of the bundled strands would make them flop naturally. If my "joshua tree" (:giggle: Thanks Whimsy for the cute title  ) can flop from a twist-out, then surely yours can too. Just do your sections a lot narrower and you'll see a difference.

Try it w/o washing the twists first. And then try it again after washing and airdrying, or after baggying. Why I suggest that is my twist-outs are always on twists that have been on for at least long enough to go through a wash or at least baggying, so I'm wondering if the slight shrinkage from that helps with the weight factor.

but yes..my hair sticks out and up..glad it does actually..dont have to worry about anything touching my shoulders(see avatar).when i take out my hair from stretched styles like braids and twist...my fro will flop especially if i combed it out.(see siggy)

It's both down and out
Depending on the weather.
I call my hair a barometer! :D

Exactly! When it's wet it's down, as it dries it gets big and poofy. The more humid it is, the bigger and frizzier it gets. The only thing that gives my hair predictability is gel. Gotta Love It!

just like nonie up and out, whether pressed or not. I'm also mostly a 4b. The only way my hair hangs is if its manipulated by braids, and then I suspect it only hangs because my hair is very fine.

the shrunken part is my hair with no manipulation

my hair after braiding it for a couple of days.

Up and out. My hair could grow to be 29 inches long and I still don't see it ever growing down.
