Everyday seems to be a bad hair day....I can't take the edges and nape...Blowing out my roots are not a option b/c of the gym ....Look at the kitchen ...The more gel or products I apply to it the more it draws up....Love my texture..But I need to do one look or the other...The 2 textures looks bad with me being in front of the camera and working behind the scences on different sets....Buns or out of the question and braids outs don't come out right this far into my stretch...

I really wanted to stretch for at least 4 months ..B/c I'm double process now...But I'm ready to throw in the towel and relax by the new year when I return back to work....

Suggestions , ideas ...Anything you can give to make this stretch last longer would help.....

Here are pics of a Bantu knot I'm wearing today and my edges and kitchen are a mess

11 weeks is not bad at all. Why do you want to wait longer, are you going to touch up the color when you relax or right after?

Well you're the hair guru and your hair is fiyah to me but I can commiserate on the stretching issue. I been doing braidouts and twists for the most part. I like your bantu knots.

Your hair does not look bad to me, like like the way it looks. Continue low manipulation styles. On your nape and edges us Elasta QP Mango Butter and a boar brissles brush to lay down your edges.

You hair actually looks really nice to me. For the edges I would do some shea butter, gel or ElastaQP Mango Butter with a tight Scarf.

Maybe you can air dry in tight medium sized braids for a braid out or you can air dry in flat twists and that may help.

Or you can flat iron your roots and put your hair up in a pony or pin curls when you work out and try to put your work out schedule around your styling days.

I used to do breif workouts in the mornings on my elliptical and I found that having my hair up in pincurls really helped maintain my style.....

I agree with the other posters, your hair looks good to me. I would also use a scarf to lay down the edges. Or you could have your bang out with a decorative scarf over the part and a braid out high ponytail or banana clip. I think you can hold out but do whatever your hair is telling you to do!

gurl, you betta stop!!! there's nothing wrong with your hair. it looks nice. I mean, if you are not struggling with anything else except styling options, then i think you can still hold out. Your edges and nape doesn't look unruly at all. again, it looks good!
Keep up the good work. :yep:

As one of the posters mentioned, I would use a scarf and flat iron the edges. That's what I used to do when I did rollersets. BTW your hair is very nice!

Girl your hair does not look bad. But I agree that Elasta QP mango butter well make that hair LAY DOWN. I don't even use that till I am some weeks post relaxer because it sleeks those edges down too sleek if I use it to early. If you are really desperate products with some bees wax in it work great too. :look:

ITA with everyone before me. I thought I was going to see a kitchen mess, but there's barely anything there to see. Your hair is gawwwjus ! You can do it! I know you can stretch a little longer, just hold on. :yep:

Your hair looks great to me. I agree with everybody else, use some gel or another product that you know will lay down your edges and nape.

Three words for smoothing edges into a bun: RED PALM BUTTER!!

I cannot advocate for this stuff enough. I"m military so I know about working out and having to wear my hair back in a bun. Without my RPB I would look a hot fool fter only 6 weeks post. But with RPB, I have stretched to 16 or 17 weeks without too much fuss. I tell you, put a little of that on your edges, tie it up in a scarf for bout 30 mins and you're good!!

I don't see a mess at all, your hair gorgeous... I agree w/ the other ladies about the scarf method though :yep:

I know exactly how you feel. I tried to wear my hair up yesterday and at 21 weeks post the kitchen was not cooperating! So I threw on a wig and went about my business...have you considered wearing one? Both half and full wigs are great options for those days where your styles are not working out for you. They give your hair a break and you still look fab! I highly recommend them. That way you don't have to worry about resorting to heat styling. Check out this thread for some great options: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?p=9640394#post9640394

Hi Traycee! Nobody knows your hair better than you do. Take a moment to think about why your hair could be feeling drier than normal-could it be because you're under the harsh lights in the studio more, and your hair is being exposed to drier air at this time of the year? If it is, then increasing your moisture and sealants might help, as well as doing more cute protective styles covered with a scarf or headband. There's not much you can do about the two textures; all that new growth means your hair is growing! If you're really in doubt about relaxing so soon on double processed hair then don't. You are really good about listening to your hair, and giving it what it needs. I say hang in there, put your length up, and tie your edges down until you're ready to relax again.

The reason you might feel you hair is not agreeing with you is due to the double processing. When you are double processed it changes your hair texture dramatically. You really should try to stretch atleast for 4 months because of the color and relaxer. You can try flexi rods, cursos steam rollers, and co-wash your hair with moisture based products more often. Also try not to worry about your NG as much as possible, this is very important while stretching.

Try Luster's wax stick it works well on my edges I am 4a. It costs about $6 at Target or a beauty supply store. Apply the wax to your edges and lightly brush the hairs to smooth it down and tie with a scarf. I prefer this over gel because it softens/conditions the hair its contains avocado oil, castor, and coconut oils. I think it is better than gel.
your edges really do not look bad. Your just use to the extra smooth straight look.

It looks fine Traycee..in fact it looks VERY GOOD!

I'm just a little sad you colored it..but i understand wanting a change.

But seriously it doesn't look like you have stretched 11 weeks already.

Your hair is gorgeous!..It's just that you are not used to it looking this way...I love it. I am 8 weeks post as of yesterday and I have had to literally braid up my nape and edges then cover them with either my rollerset hair, or my famous nap hiding swoop. Pulling it up/back or to the side is not an option....

I like the way it looks...if you are not having excessive shedding, you can def stretch longer! Don't give up!

Looks okay to me. Just do what you did on the 6 month stretch. But if you choose to relax, I understand.

No shedding at all...Just still look decent it through out my stretch...I didn't think about doing a swoop

Yes I have been doing the scarf method....But it hasn't really been working like usual..

Thanks....Though I'm not having any issues at all with dry hair....My hair itself is doing great...My hair including new growth feel very moisturized...No shedding and detangling is a breeze...

My issue is with styling...I don't know why this stretch is so much more challenging in that area...Your right about listening to my hair...

I'm going to find some cute scarfs now

Wow...Do you know I have never done the flat twist....I may have to go ahead and try it out
