I know there is already a thread like this but i think we should make an up to date one. It would also help the newbie's and lurking naturals that can't search the website. I'm also curious to how they have changed. I remember at one point almost everyone was using MTG, then Co-washing became popular, and ayurvedic/ Henna types came in

I try to KISS

I wash and DC, moisturize with cantu and then seal w/ coconut oil and either do a wash n go, or a bun or some other style.

when i wear my hair straight I wash and DC weekly, use coconut oil and let my hair airdry, then maxiglide straight.

Whether curly or straight, i sleep with my hair under a satin scarf.

I do this, but replace products with V05 and grapeseed oil. Then damp bun and go.

Edit: Regimen available in blog.

can grapeseed oil be found in a regular store or only online? i havent found it yet

I found grapeseed oil at marshalls or tjmaxx of all places, in the gourmet food aisle. Im sure it can be found at whole foods or trader joes type places too.

I keep it very simple.

Wash & Condition with Trader Joes Sulfate Free NourishSpa, if I'm in one of my straightening phases....I dont have to detangle at all just put my hair into 8 braids wash, condition and DC then take them down one by one to straighten again. If I'm doing textured air-dry styles I gently detangle only on wash day with soaking wet hair saturated with conditioner (NourishSpa or Aussie Moist) or under a cascade of water.

Deep Condition with LeKair Shea Butter Cholesterol primarily, sometimes if my hair is craving something specific I'll either do my "go to" Mayo/EVOO/Egg or I'll ask my mom for a natural Haitian Hair recepe and DC with it. Or if I'm pressed for time I'll just do Aphogee 2min.

If my hair was airdried in a natural style if I feel my hair needs it, I'll spritz with a dilluted leave in with IC Fantasia Aloe or Infusium (I wanna tweak this portion of my reggie and possibly try Lacio Lacio) and seal with a natural oil or butter.

If I straighten I use IC Fantasia Serum and Spray and pin curl my hair every night. I simply use my GNC organic extra virgin coconut oil whenever my hair feels dry.

Always sleep with a satin scarf and always gentle with my hair...... and that's it!:yep:

*My long term plan is to replace all my favorite commercial staples with a product from a Black Owned Company that works just as well for my hair*

My regimen always changes, but depending if i'm protecting or not:

Protective style:

Co wash and wet bun.

I use different conditioners to co wash (vo5-HE), while my hair is damp apply shea butter/olive oil mix and bun.

If not:

I cowash, add sheabutter mix and gel to hair, shake and let air dry.

I also dc once a week no matter what style.

I wash weekly. I detangle only when I wash.

I use V05 to detangle. I usually detangle before washing. I use my fingers and a wide tooth comb. Once a month or so I'll use a brush, Goddy Add Shine, to get out any shed hair I missed.

I usually use Trader Joe's Nourish Spa shampoo. Every now and then I'll use a random sulfate shampoo if I feel there's buildup.

Every 2-3 weeks I'll deep condition. I don't use heat. If I have it, I'll use Aveda Damage Remedy Intensive Treatment. If I can't afford that, I'll use Neutrogena Triple Moisture hair mask.

After washing what I do varies on how I feel. I might twist my hair to dry or blow dry it. Whatever I do, I cannot let it air dry loose!

These days I wear my hair in a bun 4-5 days a week and wear it out/down the rest.

MOP C-Hydration Shampoo
MOP Extreme Moisture Conditioner
Lekair Cholesterol Conditioner
Aphogee 2-minute Reconstructor
Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in
Castrol Oil/ Jojoba Oil
Shea Butter
IC Fantasia Gel & Heat Protectant

I shampoo once a week, DC with Lekair or MOP Extreme Moisture with steam, I use Aphogee when needed, and layer with the Cantu LI, Shea butter/Castor oil to seal and twist. I massage my scalp with jojoba oil when it feels dry.

In the summer, I like to co-wash 3-4 days after wash day, with Lekair and wear a puff.

Protective style: Twists, twist extentions, Buns

I would like to try:
Kinky Curly Curling Custard
Brazilian Keratin Treatment
Talid Wajjad Moisturizer
Sew-in

@BMP thanks for the Coconut oil suggestion! I didn't know what to do, so I justdon't straighten or use heat as much as I would like.

During the winter I mostly wear my hair straight and bunned/ponytailed. I shampoo 2x a week using Ojon.

I pretreat:
-At least 24hrs before wash day applying Ojon oil (only if hair is straight, it's a waste trying to get it through my unstraightened hair :nono:)
-30 mins prior to wash I mix 2 tablespoons of Castor Oil w/ 2 teaspoons of Cod Liver oil. Warm in microwave for 30 secs and apply to scalp. I apply a bit of Lekair Cholesterol to last 2/3 of my hair concentrating on my ends and make 2 braids. I apply a plastic cap and let everything marinate for 20 mins.

Meanwhile, I mix the yolk of 1 egg with 2 tablespoons of shampoo. Rinse my hair under the shower then apply my shampoo w/yolk. I allow it to sit for 1 min. Shampoo, then follow up with Ojon conditioner under a plastic cap for 2-3 mins. I detangle under the shower while rinsing the conditioner.

Squeeze out excess water and spritz hair w/ Ojon Leave-in followed by a dime sized amount of CHI silk infusion. I may airdry for few mins. then stretch hair with a blow dryer using hands followed by the use of a denman brush (D5 I believe).

Next I apply a dime sized amount of Sabino Moisture Block and proceed to lightly flat iron. I bun or ponytail until the next wash day. I don't apply any additional products during the week except for a dime sized amount of Aveda Humectant. I use it set the ends of my ponytail on Hype Hair Satin Rollers.

can grapeseed oil be found in a regular store or only online? i havent found it yet

I buy it from Whole Foods along with my sunflower for oil pulling and massages, coconut oil for e'erthing and different 'smells' of EVOO for e'erthing else.

Now that winter is here I cw every other/every 2 day(I like everyday in the summer-fall).

I am a PJ so I have a lot of cons. I shampoo with castille soap 1 every 2 weeks.

Leave in Lustasilk Cholesterol doctored up. Sealed with Crisco mixed with Coconut oil.

DC when needed.

Washing:
Once a week to every ten days maximum. I conditioner wash, lately I've been using Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Moisture and Shine conditioner. I follow up with shea butter and/or coconut oil depending on how my hair feels and seal with a little bit of castor oil. I do wash and condition my hair in sections, I put my hair in four big plaits. This is when I detangle, I don't comb my hair when it's dry and can't tell you the last time I brushed my hair!

Conditioning:
I deep condition every 1-2 weeks with Organic Roots Stimulator Olive Oil Replenishing Conditioner. This is the same stuff as the Replenishing Pak, but now in a bottle :yay:

I haven't used heat on my hair for a year as it doesn't seem to do much good for my hair. I've rarely used it since joining the board, tbh and my hair feels so much better for it. I blot my hair with the towel but I don't rub it dry, nor do I air dry it loose :nono:

Moisturising:
I spray my hair twice a day with a mixture of water and glycerin, paying particular attention to the ends and the crown of my hair as these are the driest parts of my hair. My hair LOVES glycerin + water.

Styling:
I usually style my hair in twists, but this week I have my hair in big braids which I've twisted into to little "buns". Protective styling works for me, but I do wear the occasional twist-out in the summer.

As you can see I like to keep it cheap n' simple :)

Beautiful hair ^
Thanks so much hun!:love3:

@BMP thanks for the Coconut oil suggestion! I didn't know what to do, so I justdon't straighten or use heat as much as I would like.
You're more then welcome hun, your post reminded me to add the IC serum and aphogee 2 minute to my reggie post....thanks for the reminder! lol:yep:

And shout to Mwedzi your post reminded me to add how I detangle

what does MOP stand for?

MOP is the name of the brand. Modern Organic Products or something like that.

I wash with CON green in winter and red in summer. I mix my CON with shikakai and amla powder. I DC every week with steam. That's where I play, mixing conditioners with oils depending on how my hair feels.

I rinse and do an acv rinse as a final rinse. Apply leave in, moisturze and seal, then twist. Repeat once a week.

Every six weeks I'll do either Emergencee or Aphogee treatment; my hair is not protein sensitive and likes it's health dose of protein.

I tend to prepoo only if I'm going to clarify (like this weekend), and I will occasionally do an oil rinse, depending on how my hair feels and what the weather's been like.

I wear a satin bonnet every night, and spray my hair with a leave-in conditioner every morning before I shower (helps plump up the twists), and follow with a homemade oil mist.

I've got a lot of products, but the routine itself is definitely on the KISS end. Ayurvedic-based oils and powders are incorporated throughut: in the shampoo, conditioning, the acv rinse, and sealing with oils. I just find that I prefer when they'e premixed, because it takes less time.

1. Wash once or twice a week with cheapie conditioner.

2. Twist with Rusk Deep Shine Kelp conditioner(I LOVE THIS STUFF).

Repeat.

That's it---really--and my hair FEELS amazing.

I deep condition(VERY sporadically---like once a month and I ACV once every few weeks or months..have done that once since coming to Germany in September)

Cowash as needed...1-2X per week. DC as needed. I would like to weekly but i'm getting lazy. Use mostly natural products: shea butter, coconut oil, EVOO, ACV, mayo. Occasional henna gloss. Keep my hair in twists for a week or 2 then twist out for 3-5 days. My hair thrives when I don't fuss over it but does extremely well if I do!

When I'm not in some type of extention style (kinky twists, micros) which is often, I usually do the following:

Shampoo no more than 2-3 times a month with Burt's Bees Grapefruit & Sugar Beet shampoo (its organic, no sulfates, parabens, etc).

Cowash at least 2x a week with either Organix Tea Tree conditioner or Renpure "My Pretty Hair is Parched" Moisturizing conditioner. I used to use cheapies, but I dont anymore.

I wash and condish in 5-6 braids which cuts down on knotting/tangling. I go through each section one by one to work product through. Once a week, I give my hair a serious comb through. The other times I finger comb to remove shed hairs.

I DC 1x per week with a DC that contains Garnier Triple Nutrition 3 Minute Undo Mask and jojoba oil (mixed and warmed in microwave). Leave that in for 30-45 minutes.

I use a clarifying shampoo once a month or every other month.
I do an ACV rinse once a month.

I moisturize with either HB Castor Oil or a mix of warmed shea butter, aloe vera gel, and grapeseed oil. I try to moisturize every day and I've lately alternate days with these. I just ordered some butters and cremes from various stores that I will try out. My secret santa bought me Some of Marguerite's Magic from CD and it's a bit thick, but I LOVE the smell. I'll try that out over the next week.

Finally, I have a spray bottle that contains 4 oils (tea tree, shea butter, cocoa butter, and aloe vera). I spray a few squirts in my hands and rubs it through my hair after moisturizing.

As for styling, its either a bun, twists, roller sets, fros, or some textured style. Every now and then I experiment with styles because I love styling my hair, but lately, I've been too busy and disinterested. I keep a closet full of fake hair and phony ponies/half wigs for those days where I'm like *** it lol

If I want curl definition, I use some KCCC. If I want a sleek look, I use Black gel.

I wash about once a week, with CON (red label), and condition with ORS replenishing conditioner, and almond oil. I cover with a cap and sleep with it overnight, wash out the next morning. I just switched to Lustrasilk Shea butter cholesterol with coconut oil (or Olive) mixed in though. I usually detangle when putting conditioner in with wide toothed comb.
After that I usually do a cold rinse/ ACV rinse to close the cuticle...(when I remember)
Then detangle with Denman (D3) and air dry in big braids, or buns, with Soft n Pretty Olive and Sunflower oil lotion (for general/light moisture) , and Shea Butter (esp on the ends during the winter), or Profective 60 second Strengthener with it (for heavier moisture).

Clarify every now and then from cones with Pantene Clarifying conditioner, Co wash when doing the WnG Afro with Enliven Passionfruit and Mango cheapie con (more in the summer). Dust when needed, hardly ever blowdry, and flat iron sparingly (3x this year, trying to get it down to 1-2).

Wash: w/ whatever Shampoo I can find and when its dirty (about once every two weeks)

No poos: Suave, natures gate (religiously in the warmer months)

Deep condition: w/ Lekairs or something else thick (about once every two weeks)

Leave-in: knot today by kinky kurly (sometimes I use a leave in, sometimes I don't)

Moisturize: I moisturize my ends heavily EVERY DAY maybe even twice a day with some type of oil, a random moisturizer, and a random conditioner. I moisturize my scalp with oil when its dry only.

Protect: I wear my hair up and/or braided/twisted and shrunken 99% of the time

Trim: I don't trim, but I dust every once in a BLUE moon, and I only get rid of stray random hairs.

Extra: I just started sleeping with a satin scarf on a regular base

THAT’S IT!

Simply reggie:

-Co-wash every 4 days or when hair feels dirty.
-baggy at least 4 days a week using shea butter and sealing with EVOO
-on mornings that I didn't baggy then I mosturize in the morning
-drink a lot of water
-aim to exercise at least 3x a week
-DC once a week or every other week due to hectic schedule
- will be taking my vitamins starting Sunday (multi-vitmain, iron, and biotin)
- wrap hair every night with my satin bonnet
-air dry my hair by putting my satin scarf on it and then bed time
- no heat
- protective styling with wigs
-use aussie leave in cond after my washes
-clarify monthly or as needed (sulfate free poo)
-Prayer

Tomorrow I will be 6 months since relaxer and 2 months natural. So I won't trim my hair until April, which will probably be to even up my hair since I cut it myself. I'm hoping my hair is earlobe length or longer by then. lol
