Idk if 3b or 4a, but cross out 4b for sure. 4b is a z pattern that doesn't hang that loose. It can be 10 inches long and when washed it'll shrink down to one centimeter.

My nape hairs are way different from the rest of my hair so I'm not sure even if it was long enough that it'll be a good choice orf strands to use. Good luck on your transition. How long are you going for?
