So, I got a Dominican blowout on Sunday, that I was hoping to rock at least through this weekend. Well, yesterday's all-day drizzle all but destroyed that dream. My hair was so frizzy when I got home, and I was too tired to wrap my hair up (I know, I know) :perplexed To make matters worse, I work tonight and busted hair is not acceptable at the restaurant where I work. Being the problem solver I am, I put a little of my new Lacio Lacio and some Castor oil in my hair, put it in bantu knots, then kept them in all day. I just took a shower with my hair uncovered so that the steam could get to them, and this is what I got!

Hair taken down after shower. It's cool, but I'm not to happy because my ends came out kind of straight :ohwell:

Being the quick thinker I am, I pulled it back and threw a silk flower in it. I'm a vintage queen, so this fits my work outfit.

Ta-da! Bantu knots and some retro styling saved my rained-on blowout! Now I gotta get off this forum before I'm late for work!

Thank your for the post! I know some ladies would turn to more heat to fix the situation.

Nice way to turn it around. I like the lil retro look you ended up with in the last photo.

Well you are a quick thinker :)
I know I would not have come up with that...probably would have jumped under the shower wet and shake lol

If you wanted to retain a more staight look, you probably should not have had your hair uncovered for the steam to get to it.

Great job! I am working on trying to come up with styles that are rain proof. Thank you for posting this.:yep:

You are right, Hazel, no shower steam probably would have resulted in a straighter look. I was just so pressed for time since I had to get to work in a few hours when I did it, that I wanted to make sure the waves would be locked in. The quickest way I knew to achieve that was with shower steam-- almost like using steam rollers. Tonight, I'm just going to seal my ends and Bantu it back up without heat or shower steam. Hopefully all the waves will be more even and relaxed.

Thanks everyone for the compliments--I'm going to do this again as an intentional style one day!

I really like it a lot. I love doing bantu knot outs on blow dried hair, it's bigger, fluffier, wavier, and less defined. Staple style for me. :yep: And it's amazing how a simple accessory can turn a satisfactory style into a beautiful style. Love it!

Wow, you are sexy. That looks is pure polished, refined sexiness. If you have an SO, they may not be overjoyed about having you crusing about town lookin' that smoking hot!

This summer I also found how to save my reverted hair after a steamy 110 degree day outting. I found out that blow-out/presses/flat ironed hair can always be salvaged w/a natural style. I just throw in some hair butter and put my hair in big twists or bantu knots overnight- and have a brand new (out) style. This way reversion is more like an invitation to be creative w/ur hairstyles.

Anyway, I sent u a pm w/some links I wanted to give you on your 1st posted thread. http://www.tightlycurly.com/technique/growitout/ and http://public.fotki.com/GabbanaGirl/ (lchf member)
