Im currently 5 months 3 days post, and my ng is kickin :look:
last night i cowashed my hair and prepared for a braid out. and i had a little time detangling and i wanted to do the bc for one second lol:lachen: im glad i didnt do it. i belief that most of my ng is 4(some are 5 some are 3) inches so i know im doing great, so my braids are still drying from my braid out.

i just need to saturate my hair with conditioner and really detangle my hair. I have yet to see any breakage near the demarcation line so thats great. i want to braid my hair soon or buy a wig this week because i refuse to fight with my ng during this transition. i want a sew in but thats not an option:ohwell: i would love to hide my hair until january starting at the end of the week......

what are your hair plans?

My hair plans vary-I would like to be a straight natural so I use heat during the work week and experiment on the weekends with twistouts and the like.
I usually co wash 2 or 3 times a week and dc at least once maybe twice and use a heat protectant.
When my hair grows out more and become at least SL I will be able to keep the heat out of it but for now :( I all do is make sure its moisturized (which I need to step my game up), dc'd and protected

its great that you have a plan. heat is okay imo as long as your not flat ironing every day. do you wrap your hair at night? if so it can be very beneficial. were almost the same in our transitioning 5 months post:drunk:

Honestly, after I take out my Kinky twists (end of Nov), I'll probably to a protein treatment/DC and flexi-rod it (my transitioning hairstyle). I would love to wear it straight....but I'll wait a few weeks-a month before I do that.

I'm still trying to learn how to de-tangle without hair in the comb.....:perplexed

(8 months and some change, btw)

I'm currently 11 months post and just cowashed last night with Hair One. It was too late and I didn't feel like deep conditioning. I detangled my hair in the shower and separated into 4 sections. I applied a mix of shea butter, coconut oil and castor oil onto my hair focusing on the roots. I let my hair airdry a little because I don't like to braid while soaking wet. I usually make 8 cornbraids (2 rows of 2 in the back, 2 on each side) and roll the ends with yellow perm rods. My braidouts look pretty much like my siggy.

it will be impossible unless you are not going to comb the ng:lachen: we shed everyday just make sure your detangling nice and slow so you wont have to go back and do it. congrats on making it to 8 months that will be me in feb:grin:
try to avoid as much heat as possible, your hair will thank you for it

I was thinking about wrapping it my thing with wrapping it is that I never have that "bump" to my hair like most people do-my hair would just end up straight when I comb it out. I do abuse the flat iron b/c I flat iron 5 days a week :/

have you thought about wigging it or using hot rollers. 5 days a week seems a bit much just make sure your using no more than 230 degrees

I'm 21 weeks post. Braidouts are becoming a little difficult for me. I can still do them but cornrows are a pain...plaits are easier but I like more definiton that comes from cornrow braidouts.

Bantu knots are easier for me. I just posted some pics in my fotki today.

I'm sticking with curly styles.

ita my hand got stuck in my head i had to stop and detangle. and i had to do 4 braids instead of 3 i was like look hair im not going to fight with you :lachen:

LOL.....true.....because if I have to fight believe me the newgrowth WILL win!:lachen:
exactly that why i did 4 cornrows instead of 3. my hair needs a break lol. this is the longest ive been with out a relaxer since i can remember when i transitioned i did it for 2 months back in 08 lol

I know...I get so scared after washing/DC'ing.....b/c detangling's next.:nono:

But I will go nice and slow--praying I don't have a hairball the size of a baseball. :P

Oh yea, the heat thing--we're like....distant cousins, :lachen:--only keep in touch when need be.

Are you ladies re-braiding nightly? I find I have to re-braid every night in order to keep the definition. If I don't, my relaxed ends drop and flatten by the next day and my roots look puffy.

I'm only about 10 and a half weeks post and I keep going back and forth on whether I want to transition to texlaxed, or transition to natural. The longest I've ever stretched is 12 weeks. I'm trying to see how long I can go and if I can withstand the temptation to relax.

I am almost 11th months post. Do you guys shed alot. I was a slave to the hair dresser. I am starting to wash my hair on my own more often. But I really don't remember shedding this much when I had a relaxer. My hair sheds soo much. I have a like a golf ball size of hair. And my OCD self check a lot of the strands to make sure it is shed hair and not breakage.

I currently rollerset, and then maybe hit the roots. I did to back up off the heat though, because we have been meeting up too much this past week. I may flat iron this week, and then put it away until maybe Christmas.

Also, also is there anyone who is transitioning as well as trying to grow there hair to a longer length at the same time? I am trying to determine if this even makes since. Right now I do baby cuts, so it looks as if my hair is not retaining any length.

I'm still learning and experimenting. My braid outs and twist outs are still really curly.

Yesterday morning I'd washed and conditioned and just did a wash and go. I kind of liked it even though my hair shrank to ear length. (I'm grazing sl stretched.)

I don't know how to keep a wash and go so I used the She scentit products and braided my hair. I tried to braid more loosely than normal, figuring that was why I was sooo curly.

This morning my braid out left me with some BIG HURR. Couldn't do anything decent with it, so I braided it up with two french braids, one on each side. Looked kinda bad since I had a lot of little hairs sticking up all over. I looked bad, but it's better than looking crazy with the big hair.

I have a lot to learn. I need to figure out how to lay my edges down, and figure out a technique to get my braidouts/twistouts to be WAVY not curly.

I think some ladies are doing it on here. Right now I can not think of anyone specifically. As your hair grows you keep cutting it back to your desired length until you are all natural at your desired length.

I'm almost 11 months post and I plan to stick to my siggy (and avi) styles hopefully until the end of my transition.. so far so good.

I haven't trimmed in a long time (but I dust when necessary)so I plan to trim ~an inch when I'm 1 year post and I'll just keep dusting until I'm 18 months post when I'll make a decision on whether I'm ready to be all natural or continue transitioning.

I don't really have length goals while transitioning because I don't straighten my hair so I don't keep track of my length... I have decided to do a rollerset/saran wrap when I'm a year post just to check my progress since the start of my transition...
