For those who use the MBB relaxer system at home, do you find that the system is sufficient for your hair, or do you add any products to your relaxer process? Thanks!

There is nothing wrong with using it as is...when I had it applied by a stylist, this is how it was applied and it still was great...

Now that I am a diy'er I add hydrolyzed silk, keratin amino acids and hydrolyzed keratin - and it is straight fab....

HTH!

You're adding the keratin, so are you doing a mid-relaxer protein step also?

I use the entire Mizani Butter Blends system - AS IS. I tweak nothing, and I get the most fabulous results :yep: I think this is one system whose components were synergistcally designed to work togther to produce near perfection :heart2: in relaxing. Can't wait 'til my stretch is over to "hit it" again...LOL!!!

Nope, system works just fine on it's own. I do add a mid relaxer protein step though using Aphogee 2 min before I neutralize...

Yes I still do a mid-step but I don't use the Aphogee 2 minute - I use a a protein/moisturizing condish...(i.e. Redken Real Control Masque, Tigi Dumb Blonde , etc...)

soulie weren't you using Phyto before, if so can I ask why you want to change? :)

I am being proactive. While I haven't experienced the dryness from Phyto yet (someone said it took a couple of years to happen), I don't want to get to that point. Also I have product ADD. :lachen::lachen:

I think that's me too:look: Which is my main reason from switching from Alter Ego Linange Shea Butter to Mizani Butter Blends.

If it doesn't "Live Up to My Expectations" I can always go back to Linanage.

*yep.:look: product attention deficit disorder*:wallbash:

I'll be using MBB next too. Good luck for your touch up at the weekend although I'm sure you don't need it! :)

I will be using the entire MBB system in about 2 weeks and I cant wait. It will be my first time using it and I am self relaxing for the first time too!

I use it as is because it came together, but I do believe some of the products are overrated.

Butter Base--You can probably use any base, I had to transfer this to an applicator bottle with the tip.

Honey Shield--I like this step, but i'm not sure how necessary it is, or how much it actually protects since I always put some of the base cream on the ends as well. I like that it makes my hair softer for when I separate the hair to relax.

Relaxer--I like it really well. I've been using mild and I think my hair has built up a resistance to it or something. I'm thinking about switching to regular.

Perphecting Cream--I use this as my after relaxer-pre-neutralizing protien step- This could be replaced with any other light protien conditioner IMO

Hair Bath--I like that it has color indicator, but I really like Mizani's Regular Neutralizer Phormula-7 Better. This one is kind of runny, and the other is very thick and sudsy. That comes in handy if you let the shampoo sit on your hair for 10 min like I do. So I usually do the Phormula 7 first, then follow up with the balance hair bath with color indicator to make sure all the relaxer is out.

MicroFusion Spray--I don't use this step, it dried my hair out. I think it's something like that French Perm Stabilizer stuff, but I didn't see a real difference after using it. It smelled like alcohol to me.

So, the Honey Shield, Relaxer, are really the only constants in my opinion. Everything else is up for trade.

Since I didn't have the Entire System (Relaxer Only) My Personal Tweaking Came by:

Based with Summit Sensitive Skin Cream
Using Sebastian Penetraitt as my Mid Protein Step
Shampoo'd with Isoplus Color Coded Neutralizing Poo
DC Under Steamer with Alter Ego Garlic Hot Oil Treatment
Roux Porosity Control for Final Rinse (and to further lower ph levels)
Applied BBD Stretch & Fermodyl 619 as Leave-Ins

pasted from the Phyto vs. Mizani thread. Soulie maybe you have some thoughts since you're a former Phyto girl too. Hoping you ladies can help:
-------------

I have a spin off question: Which is best for texturizing?

I used Phyto and i think my stylist used it because i had damaged/weakened hair.

And after using it I found out that my hair is protein sensitive and am constantly moisturizing.

The fact that someone stated that Phyto is heavy on protein on these boards was a  moment for me.

Now I am thinking that if I switched to Mizani Butter Blends after my longterm stretch that my moisture retention issue would be taken care of and I wouldn't be quite so sensitive to protein products.

Note: I'm only interested in texturizing like 1-2 times a year so my priority is that I need Mizani to be as kind to my demarcation line as Phyto has been. I've had smooth sailing stretching with Phyto and will only switch if that can be maintained.

Anyone texturize with Mizani? and then attempted long stretches?

Or better yet switched from texturizing with Phyto to Mizani and noted the differences?

I can't help you; I'm bonelaxed, not texturized and since I only relaxed a week ago, I don't know about stretching issues yet. I think Aggie is doing a long stretch - I know she's texturized and using MBB.

My stylist has been texlaxing my hair with mizani BB sensitive or mild for about 6mths and I stretch my relaxers 10-12wks. I recently did my own texlax with Parnevu tea tree but I think I will go back to mizani BB. I am scared to self texlax with mizani since I burn so easy. It gives my fine hair a lot of body when flat ironed even with me stretching. My avi is 10wks post mizani BB. I never knew to do all these steps when relaxing. Thanks

Currently 1 Week Post with MBB Lye Regular. Still Lovin' It!

I had lunch with some of my Mom's friends yesterday and they were commenting on how glossy & shiny my hair was and it was my Wash Day (Fridays) so it wasn't "freshly" done.:look:

So, I Henndigo'd & DC'd last night. Beautiful Results.:yep: I Don't use direct heat but things still came out nice and sleek.

Lovely Relaxer. I looked at a couple of the other items in "The System" still not sure if I will purchase them or continue to use things in my Stash and Improvising the Steps.

Glad I Made The Switch!

I could not agree more Baddison. I just got my MBB fix this past Thursday and the results were fab as usual. I can't wait for NG and December so I can go back and do it again!

However, I do not self-relax. I like to relax and get pampered a bit while I'm getting my touch-up. I've found a stylist that uses the whole system... she's pricey but, she listens to me, never leave me waiting and is very knowledgeable!

I have a local stylist like that too; the only problem is there is a 3-4 month wait to get an appointment with her!

I use Miznai Butter Blend Mild Lye relaxer and I am also stretching my relaxer quite long this time. I am stretching for a year or more this go round. The MBB mild lye is pretty light and easy on my fine hair so it should work just as well for you.

I loved MBB just the way it is. I use the entire relaxer system with all the extras. I love it as is. But I do add 1 step. I use Porosity Control after I rinse and before I neutralize. Not because I feel the product line lacks anything, but because I am hyper paranoid about being 100% neutralized. So I PC, then I neutralize 3 times.

Yep it sure does :ohwell:.

Good for you for being proactive about it. im thinking of trying this MBB or Influance (sp) next time.

Do you guys get your mbb from sheldeez.com? I'm ordering mine within the next 2 weeks and just wanna know which is the best online store.

do not order from sheldeez. check the vendor review forum. there have been complaints about over charging and not shipping out orders. Order from paynes beauty supply or irby's beauty supply instead.
