There is nothing wrong with using it as is...when I had it applied by a stylist, this is how it was applied and it still was great...
Now that I am a diy'er I add hydrolyzed silk, keratin amino acids and hydrolyzed keratin - and it is straight fab....
HTH!
You're adding the keratin, so are you doing a mid-relaxer protein step also?
soulie weren't you using Phyto before, if so can I ask why you want to change?![]()
Also I have product ADD.![]()
I am being proactive. While I haven't experienced the dryness from Phyto yet (someone said it took a couple of years to happen), I don't want to get to that point. Also I have product ADD.![]()
I will be using the entire MBB system in about 2 weeks and I cant wait. It will be my first time using it and I am self relaxing for the first time too!
I use it as is because it came together, but I do believe some of the products are overrated.
Butter Base--You can probably use any base, I had to transfer this to an applicator bottle with the tip.
Honey Shield--I like this step, but i'm not sure how necessary it is, or how much it actually protects since I always put some of the base cream on the ends as well. I like that it makes my hair softer for when I separate the hair to relax.
Relaxer--I like it really well. I've been using mild and I think my hair has built up a resistance to it or something. I'm thinking about switching to regular.
Perphecting Cream--I use this as my after relaxer-pre-neutralizing protien step- This could be replaced with any other light protien conditioner IMO
Hair Bath--I like that it has color indicator, but I really like Mizani's Regular Neutralizer Phormula-7 Better. This one is kind of runny, and the other is very thick and sudsy. That comes in handy if you let the shampoo sit on your hair for 10 min like I do. So I usually do the Phormula 7 first, then follow up with the balance hair bath with color indicator to make sure all the relaxer is out.
MicroFusion Spray--I don't use this step, it dried my hair out. I think it's something like that French Perm Stabilizer stuff, but I didn't see a real difference after using it. It smelled like alcohol to me.
So, the Honey Shield, Relaxer, are really the only constants in my opinion. Everything else is up for trade.
Nope, system works just fine on it's own. I do add a mid relaxer protein step though using Aphogee 2 min before I neutralize...
pasted from the Phyto vs. Mizani thread. Soulie maybe you have some thoughts since you're a former Phyto girl too. Hoping you ladies can help:

I have a spin off question: Which is best for texturizing?
I used Phyto and i think my stylist used it because i had damaged/weakened hair.
And after using it I found out that my hair is protein sensitive and am constantly moisturizing.
The fact that someone stated that Phyto is heavy on protein on these boards was amoment for me.
Now I am thinking that if I switched to Mizani Butter Blends after my longterm stretch that my moisture retention issue would be taken care of and I wouldn't be quite so sensitive to protein products.
Note: I'm only interested in texturizing like 1-2 times a year so my priority is that I need Mizani to be as kind to my demarcation line as Phyto has been. I've had smooth sailing stretching with Phyto and will only switch if that can be maintained.
Anyone texturize with Mizani? and then attempted long stretches?
Or better yet switched from texturizing with Phyto to Mizani and noted the differences?
I use the entire Mizani Butter Blends system - AS IS. I tweak nothing, and I get the most fabulous resultsI think this is one system whose components were synergistcally designed to work togther to produce near perfection :heart2: in relaxing. Can't wait 'til my stretch is over to "hit it" again...LOL!!!
I could not agree more Baddison. I just got my MBB fix this past Thursday and the results were fab as usual. I can't wait for NG and December so I can go back and do it again!
However, I do not self-relax. I like to relax and get pampered a bit while I'm getting my touch-up. I've found a stylist that uses the whole system... she's pricey but, she listens to me, never leave me waiting and is very knowledgeable!
I can't help you; I'm bonelaxed, not texturized and since I only relaxed a week ago, I don't know about stretching issues yet. I think Aggie is doing a long stretch - I know she's texturized and using MBB.
