Rant:

I pressed my hair last week and found that the bangs I used to have that fell around my nose area had grown past my chin. With the scissors sitting right there, I couldn't resist....so I chopped off a good 3 inches or so (so they were back to around the same length as before).

When I returned to work my boss said I hadn't done that good of a job cutting them so she asked if I would like her to "clean them up" and I agreed (she is the one who cut them for me last time). Well, my "bang area" is practically eyebrow length now, which is NOT good cuz that's the shortest its ever been. My hair is currently pressed and pulled back and it's obvious that area is not going to fit ANYWHERE near my ponytail holder, so can you imagine what its gonna look like (and where it's gonna shrink up to) once I wash it?? (I'm natural)

I don't know if I should go get a professional cut immediately or just go back to leaving my hair alone for the next 6 months or so....:sad::sad: I'm bummed a lil bit

Leave it alone :yep:

Maybe you can clip it back for while.

Eyebrow to nose will only take a few months to grow back! :bighug:

Yes, just leave it alone..it will grow back in no time..just like Neith said, just push it back for now..If I were you I would be smacking it down with some gel until it grows back and it also depends on how far the length from your hairline and your eyebrows..it may not be that bad..and headbands are a great idea.

Leave it. Do some hairstyles to have it blend: cornrows, twists, etc. Wear headbands whatever.

I am FORCED to do the headband thing right now :lachen:

My boss cut it on Tuesday and I wore one yesterday and today, and will probably have to go out and purchase some more decorative ones this weekend since I'll be wearing them so much :perplexed

She must know it's way too short cuz when I got to work yesterday morning she was like, "Did you hate your hair when you got home? I'm sorry if you don't like it ." :ohwell:

why she cut it so short?

She said you could tell that all I did was basically cut "straight across my bang area"...I guess it had too much of a "blunt look". But nobody else said anything about it. She said it needed cleaning up. She was trying to give it more of a "shape", and in doing so, she said she had to cut more of it off....

I'm sorry, but that's a lot of hair to be shaping up from your nose to your eyebrows...oh my! Maybe she didn't realize how short she cut it until it was too late..

Yea, girlfriend knows that she cut your bangs too short.:look: Just chalk it up as experience, and tell yourself that you'll be looking elsewhere when you want your bangs cut again. The good thing is that the short hair is in the front, and can be blended in with various styles, scarves, and headbands. I say leave your bangs alone, and let them grow back out.

I mentioned this in a post yesterday - when it comes to hair cuts - no styling or anything fancy, just a straight up hair cut - try the barbarshop. Nobody arguing, nobody trying to convince you to cut more or less. He/she will cut what you tell them to, be it 1/4" or 4" (they tend to have a better sense of measurement than hairdressers). You will get funny looks at first, but it's worth it to get whant you want. I've been doing it for years and I've never had more hair cut than I've wanted.

I was thinking the same, but was trying to give a benefit of the doubt

In my opinion, you should leave it alone and perhaps wear a cute head band or scarf around that area until it gets longer. I know how I am when I get scissor happy. Once I start cutting, I can't stop until I think it's perfect, and I usually end up cutting off all the inches I had gained during the months I was waiting for it to grow, which is why I've been at APL for so long.

Leave it alone. My sister jacked me up the same way. She said she was tired of my hair falling into my eyes. She grabbed my bangs pulled them straight (They were curly) and she lopped them off above my eyebrows. I hated her after that.... but they grew back in about two months so I started to love her again. lol

She knew what she was doing. Why were you messing with your luscious hair in the first place? Leave it be it'll grow back :bighug:

Don't worry Love, it will grow back!
This happened to me before and altho I was pissed, at the end of the day I put on some fierce eyeliner and rocked that lil 50's pin-up look...short bangs and all....I do prefer my bangs longer tho

Thanks ladies..I'm leaving it alone for now  although it has bothering me like CRAZY since I washed it cuz its SO obviously the part that's not fitting back into my pony!

I need some clips in addition to headbands to slick that part down :nono: First time I've had to deal with this :ohwell: oh well

Glad to hear you are going to leave it alone because that was going to be my advice. I know it's hard when you're disappointed in the cut but if you keep messing with it, you'll do even more damage. Just try to keep the bangs out of sight and let them grow back. And I know it's difficult to see this... but no one knows your hair like you do (especially understanding shrinkage on natural hair)! Do NOT... I repeat... DO NOT let this chick back up in your hair! She may be your boss, you might like her, she may have done a good job on your bangs before BUT don't give her another chance to jack up your bangs. Even if you cut them blunt again yourself, at least you know when to stop. Sorry if I sounded harsh but scissor-happy-heffffas chap my hide!
