Hey ladies
I have been on a mission to figure out how to end tiny coil breakage of my hair when I detangle. Well I think I found it!

I made a bentonite Clay Mix last night. Caked it on my hair, and then baggied and left it on all night. This morning I rinsed it out
and I was able to run a comb through my hair like it was Type 1a!!

everytime I would detange a section I would check for hair loss. There wasn't any. Not even on the parts of my hair that's more 4b than 4a.

My mix was simple
2 table spoons of Bentonite Clay
1 TBS of ACV
1 tsp of melted unrefined coconut oil

I added water untill it was a paste.

I just slapped it on hair making sure to get my ends

Ok just had to share for all those who struggle with broken coils like I do err DID!:drunk:

Okay! Wow, just wow! A couple of questions please b/c this is my goal too.

1. Are you natural, relaxed or transitioning?
2. What was your most recent detangling session before the B-Clay treatment?
3. Was your hair dry and unwashed when you did the treatment?
4. How was your hair styled just prior to the treatment?
5. Did you DC after rinsing or was your hair sufficently moisturized w/ an instant condish?

Thanks in advance

Hi Joy Time

1. Are you natural, relaxed or transitioning
I am all natural!
2. What was your most recent detangling session before the B-Clay treatment?
I have been co-washing my hair every other day and then putting it in box braids. I am been trying out different products recently.
Normally I used Cantu Shea Butter Leave in. But I would get Coils

I tried Just for me Detangle Leave in Conditioner. I didn't notice any change. Then I tried Aphogee Leave in. Great product but I still struggled with detangling. Yesterday morning I co washed my hair and just put it in a scrunchee (sp) while it was soaking wet. I wanted to detangle first but I felt like I would rip my hair out.

3. Was your hair dry and unwashed when you did the treatment?
Yes, I apply the mask to dry hair, but the mix I made was still a little stiff so after I applied it to my hair. I palmed a few more scoops of water onto my hair to work it through.

4. How was your hair styled just prior to the treatment?
It was pulled back in a scrunchee

5. Did you DC after rinsing or was your hair sufficently moisturized w/ and instand condish?
I added my cantu shea butter leave in after I rinsed, but it was out of habit. I didn't DC. I could feel the difference in my hair from yesterday to today, before I added the leave-in. I knew I would be able to detangle this time. Yesterday I didn't try to detangle it just felt like a clump on my head even after I added the leave in.

This morning as I was rinsing I could feel my hair separating

I sectioned my off to detangle and then put it in box braids so it will dry detangled.

Fully agree with this. I have used BenClay and it works wonders for my natural hair too. No tangles or anything.
I use it on dry unwashed hair. Leave for some hours or overnight. Condition if i wish or not. Finish off with ACV rinse. Voila, no tangles and soft hair.

Thanks so much for posting. I really need to try this. My hair has been causing me a lot of frustration lately due to knots, split ends, dryness, etc. :nono:

Thank you so much for posting your results and giving details! I'm definitely going to try this.

I love my Cowboy Magic for detangling, but I think I still need something a bit stronger at times.

Temi Lynd that style is beautiful!

I love my bentonite clay...but I never considered leaving it overnight. Hmmm, I might try it...or maybe a few hours.

I always notice that afterwards my hair is really soft, my conditioner "takes" a lot better, and my hair is easy to detangle. I guess I should be doing it more often.

I am not surprsed. The clay and ACV constrict the hair follicle so that there are no "bumps" and rending it smooth. Smooth = less likely to break. Great tip.

Y'all just make sure you're not letting the clay dry on your hair...put on a plastic cap. Otherwise, you will be in breakage city trying to get the clay out once it has hardened.

Thanks for sharing! Glad you found something that works for you. I may have to try it out. I've been interested in bentonite clay for a while.

It's great you found something that works for you. I've talked about bentonite a little bit on here (and so have some other naturals) and I think we all agree that it's a great addition to a regimen. I don't need to mix it with anything else but water and I leave it on for about two hours max (usually just one hour though but I tend to do 2 treatments a month).

It makes my hair easier to comb through and as a result I get much less breakage. It doesn't eradicate the breakage situation completely though; I still need to use protein when necessary.

I will never give up my protein treatments:grin:
But I think I can do this alittle more offten to my hair
Like twice a week. whereas the Protein treatments are more like once a month:yep:

Bentonite works like a clarifier so you may not want to do it as often as twice a week, especially if you're adding acv to it.

I love BC although I have only used it once on my hair. Because it clarifies. When I rinsed it left my coils very defined. I added leave in and oil and it looked like I had shingled gel through my hair.

I only use water and it makes fantastic facials. It leaves my face glowing and smooth. I am going to do a facial either tonight or tomorrow. I will always use bentonite.

Question: How do you keep you mix from lumping. I have a problem with this and henna forming lumps and i hate that.

When I mix it with acv for my facials it doesn't clump...it just kind of puffs up and looks like frosting. Try it with acv for your face, it's amazing.

I only mix it with water for my hair and I always have lots of clumps...I just put those on my hair too. They rinse out with no problems.

Wonderful post!! Thank you. I think I will try this as well when I get deeper into my stretch. Right now I am only 4 weeks.
