Since am in the process of transitioning to natural and still not ready to make the big chop :nono:. I have decided to do a 12 months braid challenge starting January 2010, hoping that at the end of the year I have enough new growth to trim the remaining relaxer. Am going to be braiding with and without extension. With extension am going to keep them in for about a month or two depends on how they look and my mood, but no longer than that. Am still in the process of stocking up products that I intend to use in the new year.
Any of you ladies care to join me in this 2010 journey:hair:.

I am so with you on this challenge. As a matter of fact I am getting my braids in on Friday. I will be doing 2 months with braids and about 3 weeks out then back to the braids. I am not transitioning but this helps me to stretch my relaxers. Good Luck!

I'll be keeping an eye on this challenge...

I do braids (but always without extensions). I'm 10 months into my transition, I usually do 2 weeks in braids, 2 week in my twistouts/braidouts... 1.5 weeks ago, I did braids and decided to try to leave them in for 3 weeks instead... if this works out, like I expect it to, I'll be braiding for 3 weeks and leaving hair out for 1 week (for curly styles)... until I cut my relaxed ends in June 2010 or later.

This sounds great, but I have to honest I probably wouldn't be a good team member, as I'll probably twist, bun and/or wng or something in between braiding. If that's fine then count me in!!

Does braiding under your wig count? As I rock my wigs during the cold months. During the spring/summer I plan to do the same and wear my hair mostly braided with my own hair and possibly extentions too.

I really like the idea of wearing braids for 2 weeks and then a twistout/braid out for another 2 weeks. It's sounds like a plan for me next summer!! I'm subscribing....

I wouldn't mind joining once the rules are posted. I am currently using C&G to get some length. I plan to stretch 6 months using braids (either box, micros, or tree braids) and will rotate my styles every 3 months.

Yep Im in. I already started in fact. I will be braiding for 2 months, then off for 2-3 weeks before rebraiding.

Count me in! I've been in braids (rebraiding myself) since April. I shooting for an entire year til April 2010. I'm doing a modified C&G method. I'm cutting the texlaxd ends off every time I take down my braids and rebraid the next day after washing/deep conditioning.

Braiding under your wig counts too. In between braids with extension am going to be wigging, giving my hair a week or two rest from extensions.

The rules are going to be simple, shall open a new thread for those that would like to join in. Looking forward to seeing you all in the challenge.

You can count me in, this will officially be my firts challenge. I'm currently weaved up and of course braids underneath. I plan to take this down in December and then half wig it with braids under so I'll be right on track for the start of the challenge since you're counting braids under wigs.

I'M IN!!!! I'm always braided up anyway. I'll be braiding with extensions only, getting my next set in november, and keeping them in for two months at a time, then resting for a month :D

I'll bite. I was getting braids in about a week. I may use this challenge to get me to 2 years

YES! This will be my first challenge and I'm super excited! I'm already in braids (did them myself, yeah!) and will be redoing them before Christmas, so I'll be right in time for the start of the challenge.

I'm planning on documenting the whole process with pictures at the start of the challenge. And I'm using a modified C&G method with Moe Grow oil. I'll wear the braids for 6-8 weeks (depending on new growth) and let my hair rest for no more than a week. I still plan to DC 2-3x per week.

Keep me updated on when the official sign up is!
