Jamaraa

check out this pic taken in 2005, the first time I seen the back of my head in a pic , and I was like HUH AND every body was like HUH, FIRST pic no product just damp i seen of my hair, I was confused cause EVERYBODY was like you need a trim your hair is in bad shape :blah:
DSCF0390-vi.jpg

its just that nape layer hanging longer/looser

so I did another album to show what was going on
DSCF0397-vi.jpg

there it is again

now stretched
DSCF0398-vi.jpg

HOLDING THE TWO LAYERS TO PROVE IT LOL
DSCF0399-vi.jpg

my crown does stretch the same length but not on its own

but anyway, wow looking back at these pics , I See/know my hair has gotten so much thicker today. I used to press more back then, that might be why

eta: one more pic showing the longer layer again. I think its evened out much more since, but it still will hang similar, which is why I DONT really take pics naked or just wet back shots, they dont look right LOL

Celina I can imagine that you need at least two drastically diff approaches for your textures. It's quite clear you can't treat your hair the same all over or you'll get serious damage. Clearly you've learned YOUR head and another some "system" categorization of it. I can't wait to see what develops w/ this thread. How many other folks will have multitextures?

Me too. I'm sure everyone is still asleep or just waking up by now. :lachen:I can't wait to see more pics from other posters. Where are your pics, Jamaraa, lol?

My bad my hair was dry but I started adding conditioner on it while trying to preserve my twist out lol I can add others later but I just took these.

I'm Muslim, so I don't have any pics. Sorry hon. Tho I'm unseen, I think I prove I know my hair stuff! :look: However, I'll tell you that the only two people I've seen who have hair like mine are men. :lachen:LOL...1st Snoop Dogg came along and made me feel not alone, but Real came along and he's even closer to my texture. I guess if you can picture Snoop and Real's dry hair together...that's me. That they are men give me no comfort at all. :nono:

I don't know what you'd call that...kinky-straight or something? Wet, it's a bit like Creole's tho more dense. I have tons of shrinkage . My hair when blow dried doesn't show it's full length at all, only my grandma's hot comb can really give me a "length check". I'm too scared to flat iron, tho I've been eyeing a Maxi Glide.

Iris will recall a girl w/ super long hair who used one. I figure if her mother thought it wouldn't cause damage, maybe I should try it.

yeah girl but I'm scared of that thang, the TEETH pulled my hair somethin horrible, I dont know how she used it, but that child's hair LORD! AW i MISS HER MAMA! But anyway , yeah you might not like it girl :nono: the teeth IMO were too rough

Iris I have another theory. Most naturals seem to have hair that's quite even tho it may not look like it, even those who use heat. Some of us have more or less shrinkage in certain parts of our hair (multitextures again ). Do you get cuts at all? If so, wet or dry?

The teeth alway stop me from buying it, tho you can use the other plates. I hear the teeth is where it's at.

I'm surprised you tried it tho since you like your hair wet.

I did a major chop in 2005
http://public.fotki.com/IRRISISTABLBTCH/2005/chop_chop/
Ever since then it grew back better and better, never chopped again

now I only trim when pressed and only the ends

I'm working on a no trim regimen for a minute since Ive reached hip to see if I can grow it full hip , not just touching hip-we shall see

its hard when I press not to trim , very hard for me:wallbash:

Eta: when i did that big chop it was on just oiled dry hair , still natural not pressed

I would never cut wet

Nah, cutting wet natural hair is like an invitaton to losing too much length.

Well don't press your hair until you suspect you're near there. You are probably closeto hip if pressed right now. Even when pulled out and wet, you have much shrinkage.

I've alway been afraid to try pressing w/ a hot comb myself. My grandma is a real wiz at it. Hardly no heat and gets it bone straight. I don't lose a hair w/ her. LOL...I plan on getting someone to watch what she does cuz she seems to control heat/tension w/ a wash cloth. She works w/ both hands. Don't ask me how...I can't see it! :lachen:

Neith your hair seems to separate more when it's wet. I've always thought you had super cool hair. I love the little ringlets.

Thanks Neith. Your wet hair looks similar to your dry hair too. You don't seem to have a lot of shrinkage either.

Thanks for a second I felt like I walked into a salon that had a sign outside that said "Long hair only" lol...carry on ladies.

Everyone's welcomed to post pics Moustacy. I can't wait to see more pretty hair pics from you.

It shrinks but nothing really serious. Won't really know until my hair shows some hang time lol

lol The sign didnt say long wet versus long dry hair pics

which means all were welcome to post :perplexed

Moustacy you didn't think we were ignoring you? I hope not. Sorry if we made you feel that way. Did you "tip" your ends w/ henna or bleach them or is that natural?

oh NEITH! This is the first time my really seeing your natural hair good in pics like this , although its not a huge stretch from your relaxed that looked mildly texlaxed, its fuller and thick and GORGEOUS! I'm so glad you went natural and KNOW your so happy with it now! :yep:

Neith your hair seems to separate more when it's wet.

:yep: Probably the weight of the water or something.

I have a lot of shrinkage, lol! If you are talking coily vs. straight...

but not really too much if you are just talking about wet vs. dry.

I meant wet versus dry. :yep: If you don'd mind me asking, how long is your hair straightened?

Thank you Iris! :hug2:

I'm really happy about it! It's much healthier now

Now, all I have to do is wait for the length to come. :D

I think we were just caught up in our lil convo as anyone could see:look:

nothin to do with only paying attention to long hair

that was a stretch IMO

I dunno , thought it was clear all were welcome to post by the OP :pullhair:

Neith your hair is like 2x the legnth when pulled. LOL...I love da ringlets tho. So cute and delicate. I always thought you were always natural...your hair always looked just like now to me...IOW, what Iris said.

When it gets longer, you're gonna get "weave checked" cuz of the curls. I betcha! ;)

I'll subscribe and post pics when I'm home... I'm transitioning so my wet pic looks shorter and bigger than my dry pic.

Oh, I hope that doesn't happen. Whoever it is better just look or ask or something... no touchies. Can't be frizzing up my hurr. :boxing:

It's funny y'all don't see a big difference though! It was less coily and had less shrinkage. but I'm happy I got rid of that texlaxed hair. Transitioning had me on the brink for a little while!
