I'm curious. How does your wet hair look in comparision to your dry hair? Post a pic of your wet hair and a pic of your dry hair.

I would , but I NEVER let my hair dry or I would never get through it, only time my hair is dry loose is pressed

It's true tho...her hair really shows no diff in length, texture, or color.. wet and dry. It's remarkable really, esp for someone of African descent. I'm quite astounded.
The way I've usually seen it is wet for relaxed = longer, wet for naturals (LOL)=MUCH shorter. Creole=the same!

Celina your hair has some shrinkage when wet, but not drastic. You have at least 2 diff textures (Iris/Irresistable and I were discussing this on another thread) that are VERY noticable. That's very interesting to me. (I could tell the diff between wet and dry cuz it's much darker wet. Creole's=the same there too)
For someone of African descent and natural, you too have rather little shrinkage. How does your hair "handle" wet vs dry?

I think this is the ONLY NAKED AND DRY pic I HAVE and it happened by accident, got busy and let it dry, all it does is turn into a big mass, this pic I could barely hold it in the pony tail, also taken in 2005

I always bend over when washing my hair, so I honestly have no idea of how much shrinkage and I never really cared. I'm tall (5'10), but I have to avoid getting my hair in the sink, if that gives an idea.

Wow...major diff Iris. That's very interesting cuz most naturals are the opposite (wet=shrink/dry=more but hardly all length) I'd think. No wonder your hair loves water and oil so much...it's at it's best that way.

LOL, it is very noticable. I thought something was wrong with my hair until a beautician pointed out that I just have different textures of hair on my head. It's hard to blend and I've just accepted that I will never have uniform curls all over my head.
Want to see something weird?:

yes girl, but I NEVER let it happen because all that means is I'm about to go through extreme torture after LOL
Unless I re wet, re condition etc and its still more difficult than if I had not let it get fully dry at all

The JBCO looks good in there, but I know you were weirded out by it. It looks fine tho, but your hair probably didn't like it THAT thick. Did your daughter like it?

Nah, good gravy you have at least THREE textures...you shouldn't be weirded out by it, but thinking how cool you are!

Gorgeous hair Irresistible. Our wet hair does look kind of similar. Your hair doesn't appear to shrink that much.
Celina...check this out. I just wrote this about another poster on the Hair Porn thread (link below). This totally fits you even more than she. Go look and judge for yourself. My posts on the subject: My theory is that the whole Andre system is whacked because many if not most human beings have more than one texture naturally. It's the same thing w/ hair color really...most people have a mixture of colors when you examine the strands, so why not textures?
These hardcore categories people buy into very much around here, but how true are they really? People are actually fighting over this stuff w/o wondering just how true it really is.
A person just has to find what works for them and their hair. That takes time, some money, and most of all patience. The categories set hard and fast rules. LOL that's part of why we get so many HELP posts methinks. Someone tried what worked for another 3421abxes and found it didn't work for them!
The OPs hair actually took the dye differently on the different textures. Amazing!

i did like it as far as what it did to my hair, i mean gurrl I COULD dry comb it! that NEVER happens, but it did feel weird to me, sticky kinda
I cant get my daughter to try ish!!! She aint into this hair stuff, she is happy with V05 and water with a lil coconut oil and it took me FOREVER to get her hip to the oil as it was. She has all these better conditioners I stocked up for her and she wont use them , only the V05's hmph!
She would probably really hate the JBCO

Jamaraa, I agree with you about the hair typing thing. That's why I describe my hair as curly, coarse, and highly textured instead of using the whole 3abcdefg thing. Good post.

I'm so glad you don't think your hair is damaged Celina. This system had got people w/ perfectly healthy hair thinking something's wrong cuz of their multitextures. Sheesh!

Thank you. I definitely prefer to handle my hair wet. The curlier parts underneath straighten out more. This is the only time I comb it. Wet and full of conditioner. I may try oils again over the winter, but I find the conditioner works good enough for me. I'm considering mixing a little oil in my conditioner over the winter though.
The different textures also retain moisture differently. The big curls on top require less conditioner than the more curlier stuff underneath in the back. I have to be careful with applying too much conditioner (or anything for that matter) on the loose curls on top of my head or they will clump in a very bad way and feel really greazy and weighed down.

my hair drinks coconut oil and thats mostly what I grab and give it now
my other great love is Avocado oil for the benefits but the smell , not so great
so I just keep grabbing the coconut oil and my hair is loving it girl
I really think I could just use that oil alone for life
with an occasional oil rinse with Olive oil when needed
Celina I can imagine that you need at least two drastically diff approaches for your textures. It's quite clear you can't treat your hair the same all over or you'll get serious damage. Clearly you've learned YOUR head and not some "system" categorization of it. I can't wait to see what develops w/ this thread. How many other folks will have multitextures?

I'm partial to coconut (monoi is my baby) and jojoba, alone or as a base. Sometimes sesame is nice too, tho I prefer the other two. I'm experimenting w/ palm oil (the red stuff)...I might try argan and camellia oil neat as an experiment, but I'm too cheap to want to risk my hair falling in love w/ either!
I generally add a little of these to oils I make.Oddly, my hair hates olive oil....neat or mixed. It "sits" on my hair kinda like I think your JBCO did for you. I only use that neat on nape, edges, and ends...tho VERY rarely. It does better in mixes I find. Too sticky and too smelly to apply whole head. Besides, I even pulled out a hair or two putting it on it's so sticky.
