Worth posting??? Girrrl, post the pic and let us be the judge...I bet your hair is beautiful!!!

Do we really only have a couple of 6 year or or more naturals here...who actually wear their hair natural???????? REALLY?????

Natural since birth...so 23 years. If I'd had lhcf since birth I'd be toe length right now.

My hair is about 10-12" right now. I wear lots of different styles...wash and go's (not anymore because it causes way too many knots and breakage), pinned up braidouts, weaves, braids (without extensions), buns, and whatever else I'm feeling like.

Ok i dnt knw if its because am new to the board am not seeing anywhere i can insert photo. But here's my fotki if its not too much yall can check it. I will lock it again tomorrow..

Ohhh wait..i think i go it...LMAO

Been natural since 2002 (Started transitioning in 2001 and was fully natural a year later with small trims). Had the longest hair I've ever had at the time I joined LHCF as seen a month later in August 2003. Had a set back of thinning ends due to not trimming (trying to adopt some of LHCFers theories) and had to chop off quite a bit in Dec in the hope of getting my hair to the thickness I liked it. Found a bald spot in December 2003. Grew it back by Sept 2004. In December 2004 was on my honeymoon and went a bit heat crazy coz I didn't want to spend hours on my hair and loved the ease of styling straight hair so had to a do a fairly good trim after the honeymoon coz I knew my hair was heat damaged--the ends were thin and rough. Braids always help me grow my hair back so I hid in them for about a year and a half and continued my regular dusting every time I'd redo a braid, which I believe allowed my previously bald spot to catch up with the rest of the hair (bottom right pic shows the general area that was previously bald but notice all braids are more or less the same length). So by December 2006, I was back with hair like I had in 2003 and very happy with my progress. By Feb 2007, I was ready to learn new things to do with my hair so it's not always in twists or braids. My visit to a salon to learn that left me with this mess (instead of the shingling I asked for; I was told the coils/twirls would drop and be cute but never happened :nono: ). That hair when untwirled turned out to be this short (A stylist's idea of a trim was a 5+ inch cut!). And so I was at the beginning of my hair growth journey yet again in 2007. And now I'm back to a little past shoulder length (April 2009) and back in braids.

I got a bit lazy for a few months after putting in braids, not feeling like doing anything for my hair (Couldn't be bothered to baggy, DC, dust, or even wash twice a week--thanks to the freedom of having braids--and don't forget that I don't use leave-ins so my hair has been very neglected lately :nono: ) but I am trying to get back on track now. :look:

Not sure if my hair can grow any longer than it is now coz I get so happy with this length that I start to enjoy it too much at the expense of health (2004 the heat damage), or even when I'm careful I get taken back some paces by a stylist (2007 BC), or I get too complacent and unbothered (May-Sept 2009) and so that I am not giving my hair the best that I can. I guess we'll see....

I still do wash and go's in the summer, however I can not wash and go with twist...this will cause my twist to lock up...

Thank you for this very well detailed post

I have been natural since birth... I always had a lot of hair busy hair which would grow depsite how rough I was with my hair.....growing up I mostly wore braids and over the 8 yrs or so I was braided up my hair was about BSL but it wasnt truely healthy. My mom decided to take me to a beautician to "train my hair" basically she burnt all my hair out!

I must say I was totally depressed cuz it one thing to cuz your hair short but its a whole notha' feeling to go from BSL to about 1'' of hair all over in a matter of weeks :(

So I braided again... not so much to grow my hair, more so to hide it after bout a another 4 years of neglect in braids I decided to wear my hair out...it was a lil past APL at this point and I went to get regular presses. my hair didnt fall out but I noticed a lot of thinning.... My college room mate introduced me to natural hair care and in 2 months I noticed a big diff in the length and health of my hair

So about a year and a half ago I decided ot cut off my heat damaged/ thinning hair and embark on natural hair care I have been amazed at how well my hair has trived I have been documenting my progress I think I will upload an album today!!!

I had the last bit of texturizer cut out of my hair in October 2003, and that's when I went natural. But I've cut it so many times, including a BC in September 2007, so I really don't know what it would have looked like had I gone 6 years with trimming only. I'm trying to find out now 'cause my 20 year HS reunion will bein 2013 and I wanna have a BAA. I had to do a pretty big trim in the spring but since then, I've only had one small trim, and only plan on trimming every 12 weeks.

And my hair grows slow as molasses, so this will be interesting.

Congrats on your nappy-versary! :yep:

Hi Netta1, congrats on your anniversary :yay:

Check my siggy, no new pics, my avatar was from 2006, I had it cut since then but it's on it's way back :)

I've been natural almost all my life, minus 1 year or so
That makes around 37 years :lachen:
I have an album here on lhcf in my profile...
