heh I could never do my own. I ca't even plait. I have paid triple that at Khamit Kinks in NYC. I live about 5 hours from NYC.

When I get that style done, I pay £40 not including hair (about $64). Admittedly this is very cheap over here since in salons it would cost me about £70-80. I would never pay $180 but from what I've seen on these boards the prices charged in the states seem to be ridiculously steep.

That's cause Khamit Kinks charges an arm and a leg. :lachen:

It's the same women speaking a language I don't personally understand, but maybe the bathroom is nicer.

well i live in chicago and the SHOP will charge 180 on the head for something like this.. my micros START at 220, and now that im longer than the last time they'll want 240.. and me and my mom have been going there since i was in high school (at least) so thats about right. (i know its alot but they do good work and you get what you pay for here in chicago, i've gotten enough unprofessional or cheap braids to be able to speak from experience but i can only vouch for prices in the chi)

HOWEVER, in chicago, if you went to someones house to get this done, i'd say maybe 120 (ish)

If it's at a salon then $180 is reasonable. If it's in somebody's house then I'm not paying more than $80....$50 for that style since the braids are not that small.

Your friend is on drugs. Those braids aren't particularly small, and they aren't braided down the entire length of the extension hair. What's her non-friend price 250.00??? PLEASE!

I know right! I wanted to kick her in the throat when she told me that :lachen:

I've been you tubing and looking at websites and im going to practice on my daughter. I hope they dont come out looking like doo doo braids :ohwell::ohwell::ohwell:

Only thing about doing it yourself is that you might take TOO long, and you might not do it firm enough to where they'll fall out, or look old and fuzzy after 2 weeks. I pay $150 and I have found cheaper but the lady that does mine knows exactly how I like it, doesn't tug too tight and I don't lose my edges, so I stick with her.

What brand of hair is that? I really like those. And what's the name of the style?

I have a lady who charges $80 in Texas. I go to her house. Plus I pay $20 for the hair. I wouldn't pay 180 for any hair style. Find some cheap braiders on craigslist, they might not have their own salon, but I find them to be legit and much, much cheaper..

It's just regular braiding hair.. she braids it halfway down and when she's down with the section she braids it together and applies rollers. Back in the day I just used hot(boiling) water anyone remember that?:lachen:

It's really cute, but I wouldn't pay that much. I pay £50 for mine, which is about $100 or less?? Not sure about the exchange rate at the moment.

I would not pay more than $80 for those. I have actually had waist length small box plaits done and they looked professional and were only $40 but I gave her a $20 tip for all of her hard work.

GIRL HOOK US UP WITH YOUR BRAIDERS #:woot:!

Your hair looks FAB and for the price you paid, WHAT?!?!?!
Congrats :bouncy:

With all the African braiders in Harlem you couldn't get it done that inexpensivley or look that good!
:amen:
