Ok so i'm new to this LHCF ( minus my lurking days :yep:)
But there is SOOOOO much information on here ( products, regemins, growth aids) that I can't seem to figure out which route I wanna take!:wallbash:

Let me give you a little background about me:

I am by far the the BIGGEST PJ out there! No seriously! I have so many products that I try ALL the time!

I love my texture, but I would love to find a regimin that is right for me and even better for my hair..........Old timers/educated users....PLEASE HELP!

My goal is BSL and THICK! currently SL stretched out and fine.

I'm no expert by far but I think we have the same hair texture (although I am probably a 9 on the thickness scale, 10 being the thickest). But I would say that you are in a good place, your hair is at a good length so all you need to do is read and trial and error and take notes on your hair reacts.

For some :ninja:me:ninja: I have to drag my hair from its dark state of knots, dryness and split ends and THEN I can experiment. I read almost everything on here but I literally pull out my notepad on threads that pertain to the issues that concern me i.e. health, growth, protection and moisture. I would keep on reading and take notes on how your hair reacts and probably make us of the product exchange forum. :drunk:

Thanks NITC....I've never had a problem with moisture, as i moisturize often and am a HUGE fan of CO washing. Since my BC (which left me with about 2 inches) I've managed to get to 7 inches stretched in a yr ( with a trim)...so i think i'm doing pretty good so far

I would just like to learn to maintain it and KEEP it healthy...I've heard a lot about MTG ( aka the stinky conditioner ) and the success stories ppl have with that....what's your regimin?

:welcome4:

I'm glad you came out of lurkdom. Finding a regimen is going to take some time...but since you already have a lot of products now you can just focus on techniques. If you click on the newbie manual in my siggy, there's a section of that thread that has great threads for naturals. You may want to check those out (there are a lot of do's and don'ts, etc. etc.).

Since you like to cowash a lot, maybe you can just keep your hair in twists or braids (no extensions) and then just cowash, dc, moisturize in those. That way your hair isn't out all the time, it's low maintenance, and you can still keep up your regimen. But there are lots of different things you can do. It'll just take some time to research and pick out the things you want.

WELCOME TALEAH!

OMG! I used to LOVE to do these ... (this may not be true) but I tricked myself into thinking that it was actually less work to retwist each twist after washing rather than wear a twist out, comb.... and then twist. My hair is SO thick and dense and all of the above that I get a little lazy :sleep8: and would rather be doing other things...:computer:
But I will be doing the retwist twist protective challenge for the rest of this month... using my first heat pass this weekend in order to trim my split ends....

Welcome gurlie....just relax. Take a deep breath. I know you feel overwhelmed and I fully understand. We were all newbs once! Don't be intimidated....we're all learning too, even long timers like myself.:look::yawn:

Here's a suggestion....if you have a specific thing that interests you, say oils, concentrate on that for awhile. Use the search function and find all you can about your interest. In the course of reading, you'll eventually be lead onto something you wanna try.

Tell us, is there anything you specifically want to try (a product or technique, building a regime) from your readings so far? Maybe we can point you in some directions and help narrow it a bit.

Thanks Guys! You make me feel so welcomed!:newbie:

I really want to focus on retaining my length and thickening up my hair. when it's in a fro it looks very thick, but when i do my twists it's not as full as I would like them to be. i wnt to find products that i use regularly and that work well for my hair.

So far i've been:
1. washing with Dr.Bronners peppermint castille soap (diluted and mixed with a little olive oil)

2. Conditioning with either Infusium Moisturology (co-washes) or ORS Olive Oil Conditioner ( DC).

3. I alternate between taliah Wajhid(sp?) shea butter leave in or Cantu shea butter. However I find the Cantu to be too light for my hair and doesn't allow me to clarify as well as the TW shea butter.

4. i oil my scalp with my homemade oil blend mixture ( rosehips, peppermint, rosemary, lavender, nettle and horsetail hers infused in a mixture of avocado oil, sweet almond oil and jojoba oil)

If you need the recipie I will be more than happy to send to you! ( sharing is caring!)

I then follow up with either braids or twists sometimes a big twist out in a fro (if that makes sense)

How am i doing so far?

How does that sound guys?
