Oprah's hair too dry, what do you think?

I think Oprah's hair looks dry. It used to look nicer, but now it's lost its sheen in my opinion. I noticed it the most when she had Monique the actress/ comedienne on her show and Monique's hair looked nice and supple with sheen. Well, what do you think?

I agree with Mercie. O's hair looks great. It has sheen and looks very healthy and moisturized.

I think Oprah's hair has been looking great, thought I worry about her wearing it out so much. (Why am I worried? It's not my hair and I don't even know her LOL!)

I don't necessarily think that hair that is not shiny means that it is not moisturized.

Man, I'd take Oprah's hair ANY DAY, her hair looks flawless, I know she's enjoying her fabulous progress and wearing it out all the time. I would say I'm worried about heat damage and the need for protective styling if this were just jane doe walking down the street but she got Andre Walker taking care of her styling needs so I know he has her back and has never steered her wrong all these years.

I love the fact that Oprah rocks her own natural hair thats such a statement to young girls that admire her and looks the best on her to me as well:yep:

I think Oprah is natural? I have noticed that natural hair has a tendency to look more dry than relaxed hair.

Stage lighting is very intensive heat along with styling daily will affect the hair; however, that's the reason stars and models wear faux hair to protect their own.

was monique's hair real?
Nope but she jokes about her weaves all the time. Her hair had that super high gloss that weaves have, it was nicely done, but yea super duper shiney.

Actually shine does not correlate to health or how well moisturized the hair is. My hair is usually moisturized and sealed and sometimes it won't get a high gloss or a sheen, thats the nature of alot of women's natural hair alot of 4a's it can be smooth moisturized and in great health, its just we don't naturally have a high sheen. For me the sheen is hit or miss regardless of the health of my hair.

It could also be that she doesn't want her hair to have that super high gloss too.....not everyone likes that...

These constant comments about people's hair looking dry don't make sense to me. Whether they refer to Oprah or Zahara, if you're on a hair board you should know that non-shiny hair does not automatically equal dry hair. And that just because someone's hair might "look" dry, it doesn't mean it is.

C'mon people...you of all people should know better.

SPEAK on it msa:clapping:

Yea I remember in HS we used to think that greased down unmoving hair was SO cute mm mm mmmmmm:nono: ghetto was "in" back in those days when you wanted to be down wit the crowd:ohwell:

She prolly want her hair to have a nice swang to it, I do the same thing alota of times when I want a nice clean classy straight look, I'll sacrifice the shine for a nice movement:yep:

And it provides for a much more pleasant experience should you lean on something or should someone touch your hair admiringly they don't come back feelin like they dipped they hand in a bucket o' grease:lachen:

Since she has grown it down her back, and beautifully, and it's not snapping off, how could it be "too" anything?

i think it looks fine. it doesn't have to be shiny, sleek, slicked, or greased to look good. all hair types don't have nor need that characteristic. its not a sign of health either.

I don't know y'all, it just looks dry to me. It's not to say that it's not healthy, I'm sure it is, but it used to have more sheen. Not just Monique either, like Jada Pinkett's hair has sheen, Tracy Ellis' hair has sheen, Oprah's hair used to. Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Jada has 3c hair, Traycee is half white and has 3a hair, Oprah has 4a afro-textured coily hair....not the same at all. 4a hair unless it is the silky type tends not to shine when natural as much as people who simply have curly hair. Coils behave way differently then curls.

Shine does not = Health

...but you called Nahla Aubry's hair dry the other day. :look:

Also, I don't think anything is wrong with Oprah's hair...it's not shiny, but honestly, if I could have her length, thickness, and health in exchange for never having shiny hair again...then okay. :lachen:

You must not have read the rest of the thread huh? :lachen:

Have people never heard of sarcasm?! I mean gosh! It was so transparent you may as well have been looking through a see-through dress in paparazzi photo flashlights:drunk:

lol, that was what the look smiley was there for. I read the rest of the thread....I hope you didn't think I was trying to come after you or anything. :lachen:

ITA it's funny I was just admiring O's hair the other day, and it looked luscious to me. I love her thickness and texture that is apparent even though straightened. It is obviously healthy and thriving. I prefer her look over a shellacked artificial shine anyday.

Maybe she just decided to not put anyting 'cone" based in her hair. Lots of shine you see these days is down to cone based products.

I think in our community there are so many that are SO accustomed to the plastic super high glossy sheen of weave hair that we simply forget what natural hair looks like....:nono:

No, I like her hair TYPE and I think it's healthy, and I do wish mine was as thick as hers, we actually have the same hair type she and I, but I preferred it in her earlier shows. I'm not saying she has bad hair at all, no I love it, just not the styling of it :(
