Anyone tried this? Does the conditioner reduce the effectiveness of the color rinse?

I'm just trying to find a way to keep my hair looking juicy black without damage.

I was thinking of doing this maybe not weekly though.

What rinse are you using? I use colorshowers and I notice it last longer than other rinses.

I shampoo wash/DC every sunday and cowash/DC on Wednesdays. i was thinking of adding a squirt of color rinse to my Sunday DC to keep it looking fresh. Who makes Colorshowers? Can I buy Colorshowers or KISS at any BSS, or at Sally's?

Kiss you can find at the BSS. I think you may have to buy colorshowers online though.

I Think You Should "Possibly" Consider Henna/Indigo. Henna/Indigo Gives you the most beautiful, blackest, shiniest Hair You'll Ever Want to Have on Your Head. All Natural. And Blingalicious. Plus it will add extra strengt to your Hair.:yep:

Time Consuming yeah.....can be kinda messy....yeah...But the Results are Fabulous!

And Definitely Worth It.

I do it all the time. I use John Frieda. I put it on and wait 3 minutes per the bottle instructions to let the color absorb. Then I slap my DC on over that, and my heat cap for my usual 30 minute DC.

I've always been interested in henna, but it just seems like a LOT of work and LOT of research (to make sure I have the right kind etc etc)....I guess I'm just too lazy

I've combined conditioner with a clear rinse, not to sure about using a colored rinse. That sounds extra messy.

i've done this before. i tried adding a squirt of rinse to my deep conditioners, but realized it was dulling the effectiveness of the rinse: it's better to save up the rinse and do a full on reapplication than apply it bit by bit each DC.

i'd suggest to you, instead, to find a good conditioner that will refresh your color AND condition your hair at the same time. when i was a jolly-rancher redhead (i had reeeealy red hair), i used quantum red's conditioner. i'd apply it with heat for 30 minutes per week, and it really helped to keep my red nice and vibrant. i know they have it in red, brunette, and gold (for blonde), but if you want black hair you might want to explore other brands, like pantene. hope that helps

Excellent suggestions Pookie- Whenever I am at CVS I always notice there are no black refreshing conditioners, I see brunette, blond etc.

I just did a search and gound that Aveda makes a conditioner called Black Malva that " Enriches your dark hair with cool dark tones. Rejuvenate and refresh natural or chemically treated colour. Will leave your hair feeling shiny, silky and very manageable."

Can anyone reccomend any more black refreshing conditioners?

I have tried mixing my black colorshowers with a conditioner, but the color really did not take. I definitely get better results when I do the rinse as usual. I think a clear rinse would yield better results if you are going for shine. I say try it- it won't hurt.

BTW, when I was at Sally's this week I was in the ION aisle and I found a "color sealing treatment" - it is called Color Defense -after color sealing treatment. I am going to try this and see if it helps my color last longer.

I sometimes mix color rinses with conditioner. The color isn't as bright but it's good enough for a refresher. Mixing also prevents the color from staining the tub, my hands, skin, etc...
