how are you handling the international fees?

My favorite shopping site is vitacost.com but the shipping fees are just unbearable..its over $30!!!

does anyone know a way around this?

how are you handling the shipping fees?

I am in switzerland and when I order from US sites I know how the shipping can be crazy. And sometimes you even have to pay tax when you receive the item.

I find that www.ebonyline.com has very reasonable shipping and a few other sites as well.

Depends on what you want to buy. I really recommend ebonyline, they are erasonable and very fast in shipping out my stuff.

These days there are great online Europe or UK stores that have most US products and the shipping is so much cheaper... and no duty tax (if you are in Europe)

I used to live in Japan and getting companies to ship stuff there was expensive. And since we were non-miltary, we couldn't use a USA po box. I found iherb.com had very reasonable shipping to japan. I also befriended folks that were willing to shop and send stuff to me. The latter was always the better option.

I find the majority of stuff I want in the UK; we seem to be sufficiently stocked. It's just things like Caruso's (although we have an equivalent), PIBBS etc that we can't get here. Some of the salon hair brands like Jane Carter, Hairveda, KBB, etc are not readily available here. This is why I don't want to try them as I don't want to fall in love with a product that is expensive enough already but then have to pay exorbitant shipping on top.

I tried to find alternative items or suppliers in the UK/Europe or, Use a friend's address (she lives in the US) to ship items to and my Sis picks it up when she over there.

Great idea ladies about using someone else's address, though I don't know of anyone in the states :(

Well comparing prices from iherb and vitacost -its almost the same (vitacost still cheaper though)...so I may go with iherb but i will keep searching.

how much do you pay for shipping when you order from iherb and how long is the shipping?...anyone?

Hey Lebiya,

I just ordered from iherb yesterday, and I am in Calgary.. got 4 bottles of vits, and some conditioners, I ended up saving 11% overall, and shipping with DHL was $14.10 or something like that.
It sucks to have to pay all that extra for shipping, but I can't find the my hair vits here.
I usually just try to buy an amount that makes the shipping worth it and that way I don't have to order as often.

:yep: The highlighted is exactly what I do.

when i was living in Dominican Republic, i was on a company named CPS. They provided me with an address (no P.O Box) in the States, so i bought online and shipped it to this address. These people sent my products to my house and i just had to pay like 3 extra dollars every time i bought something.

Here in México is kind of difficult, because this country have some unreasoble taxes!!. Anyway, what i want to say is that there are companies that provides you with a fisical address in the states, and they shipp it to you, is normally cheaper than pay to the websites/sellers to send your products abroad.

Examples :
One USA Adress
My USA Box
Skybox

thank you soo much for the link. i was longing for it to be cheaper than ebay but alas 120 pounds :nono: i saw it for 50 but i just have trust issues with ebay.

It will probably work out the same price if you add the price of item, shipping, voltage converter and a possible custom charge (happened to me recently from an Ebay Seller:sad::wallbash:).

Or, you can contact the Manufacturer directly:

Sorry OP, didn't mean to take over your thread.

How much did CPS charge you and what's their website?

Those sites above would be great but the prices are stupid! It's even more there.

Do you know of any others that charge better rates...my goodness : (

I live in Jamaica and I shop through Amazon.com. I just discovered Vitacost this week. What I usually do is have the stuff shipped to someone who I know is coming down soon. Typically, I know people who are travelling at least a few times a year so it works for me.

As someone who has BEEN THERE, I have no issues shopping and mailing stuff to someone.

I didn't find iherb to be expensive via shipping. But they have discounted rates to Japan and for frequent shoppers...

It really matters. I try to avoid ordering things as much as possible but I order henna in bulk (2kg) from redcatblackcat.com which is the bulk and old crops from mehandi.com

Somethings I will order through a US address that I pay for through a local courier service. But I try to use this when shipping is free (because I will still have to pay to get it shipped from the US address to me :nono:) or the price I would get it for is still cheaper than what I could get it for locally because it is so expensive here.

I have to pay up to 30% duty on most things shipped to me here.

This. Especially because you pay by shipping weight and if I am going to order from overseas I am going to want to stock up. I easily use 4-6 of conditioner every cowash.

I prefer to take trips to the US on a pretty regular basis and I always bring back plenty of product but still have to pay duty and I am limited by the airlines ridiculous weight restrictions.

It's not easy!

just some ways that I save money is to:

get the sender to mark as "gift"
us USPS, since UPS charges ridiculous brokerage fees
Buy my items in bulk twice a year.

vitacost is great but the prices for shipping....!!!!

Does anyone know of any other middleman shippers which take your items, then ship it to you for a reasonable price? Vitacost now raised their prices from $30 to $40-50!!!

I buy my Aubrey Organics White Camellia and Blue Green Algae Hair mask from www.vitaglo.com as they are much cheaper than vitacost

I also order my JBCO from Sams - the last 2 occasions I ordered the case of 12 bottles and split them with 3 members on NP

In order to save on shipping costs, I order in bulk and get enough products to last me at least 12 to 18 months.

In the end, it’s best to have a friend send it to you in a “care package”. I don’t know about the country that you are in, but where I am sometimes, they only allow 200Kr. After that, they start taxing and fees.

However, if you get a gift or a care package from a friend or family member, that’s different. Technically if they include something from them, it’s a gift/care package for you (and your hair) … lol.
