Random thought regarding my transition.....

It has been 2 years and 6 months that I have been transitioning. I am pretty much completely natural except for a few straggly relaxed ends here and there. I never did a BC, just cut a little bit here and there. I have realized that the very nape of my neck is a verrrry loose texture and may never curl; I can live with that - that's what S-Curl is for!

I had planned to go to the salon and let my brother get rid of the remaining ends on September 17th. The date has no significance, but I just pulled it out of the air. Also, I just finished a 6 week exercise bootcamp and knew it would have to be after that since I was co-washing my hair just about every other day.

Guess what? The date is nearing and I don't feel like doing anything to my hair. I just realized that I have not straightened it out or applied any heat to my hair for the past 4.5 months - I last straightened it for my b-day in April. I had a goal to enjoy my summer wearing my hair in its natural state. I have done just that!

I said that as the weather changed, I would get my "mini-chop", while at the same time start wearing my hair straight. Well I just don't feel like it. I love my buns, banana clips, and curly ponytails with my hair in its natural state.

O.K. rant over. I just needed to say that I don't feel like doing anything to my hair.

(I have to say that I did think about blow drying and flat ironing my hair this weekend but it just seems like way too much work.....I will keep everyone posted if I have a change of heart, but my head hurts just thinking about it. A bun seems soooo easy and convenient.)

Rant over......FOR REAL

your hair is so pretty in your siggie

I would LOVE to see it in a curly ponytail. Do you have any pictures?

Oh and if you don't want to cut it in Sept, definitely change the date. If you've transitioned this long you might as well just wait until you feel ready.

I'll see if I can find some curly ponytail pics and post. When I tell you that I have so much going on right now that my hair is the very last thing on my mind, please believe me. I just know for me that it wouldn't make too much sense to go through all the effort to get it trimmed (mini chop) if I wasn't really going to do anything with it. I like if I put my hair through all of that (with the blow drying, flat ironing, etc.) may as well get the most mileage from it and wear it straight......but I just don't have a desire.

I was just about to post in a thread about whether you will stay natural or not, and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that I will never relax again - EVER! This is way too easy (and forgiving).

I even thought about waiting until January 2010. That would be 3 years transitioning.
Shoot, I feel like I have been wearing my hair pulled back for so long that I probably wouldn't even look right with it straightened out :-(

Just ranting.

:needpics: of your curly hair. C'me on wid it!!!

I always laugh at that quote when I see it in another thread but have never seen it in a thread of my own. LOL

I will post a pic in a minute.

your hair never ceases to amaze me. girl i WISH i could transition that long. i want to wait till 2 years but i may not make it past december. if you did it this long, do you. i agree on if your straightening, you would want to make the most out of it. enjoy those curls, they are GORGEOUS!

Wow your hair is beautiful! We need your support/regimen in the transitioner threads some of us are struggling just to get to one year.

OP, your hair has remained beautiful throughout your entire transition. Whatever you decide to do, it will still be beauiful! :yep:

So inspiring BB. You hair is gawgeous!! I don't even see these so called relaxed ends in your pics. We'll be here when you are ready. Thanks.

You are my inspiration to be a long term transitioner. Your hair looks gorgeous as is, so if you choose not to trim or straighten, it is still beautiful. Loving your Wn G picture... those curls!!!!!

I really need to get some in bulk somewhere b/c since the time I have started using them, I have broken 4! I can't always find them at the same place either; it's always hit and miss.

Don't you just love this style? It's so darn easy and just a little twist from your regular ponytail when you want to switch it up. I call it the best of both worlds b/c (1) I can wear my wash n' go, and (2) my hair is still "restrained" (but not in a ponytail).

Awww thanks! How long have you been transitioning so far? I am sure you know this already, but with all that gorgeous hair, you will be transitioning forever (to keep your length). It is so beautiful.

I guess I can be your inspiration to be a long term transitioner and you can be my inspiration to have beautiful natural hair at your length. Deal? O.K. .......LOL

Hey Barbie How long is your hair straightened... Your hair is BEAUTIFUL!!!

I haven't straightened it (and even then it wasn't straightened for that long; I immediately curled it) since April. I think that's what's in my siggy pic. I would be curious to know, but that's the thing. I don't feel like going to the salon and going through all the motions just to see b/c the next time I go back to the salon, it will be to get the remaining ends cut off. Oh how I wish I felt like doing it myself.

I really want to know and because I do, that would be the only reason I would take the time to straighten it, just to do a length check. (knowing me, I would probably do a wash n' go the very next day! LOL)

Your hair is lovely. Relax, you don't have to ever cut it if you don't want to. Enjoy it, you'll know when the time is right.:yep:

I ADORE your curls!

Do you have a fotki for stalking? :poke:

Thanks hon! No, I don't have a fotki. I've been trying to upload more pics to the LHCF album here but it keeps failing.

(Every time I see your avatar, I keep thinking about your vivid story about your professor and I fall out laughing!)

Thank you; I guess I am just a little anxious about not being able to wear my wash n' go's during the winter and being "forced" to do something to it really soon.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was a lot of fun, wasn't it? :yep:

Yes it was! I first came in when you first started the thread and I read through page 1. Then when I came back, the thread had grown to several pages and like a good book, I didn't want to jump to the end, but you should have seen me on the edge of my seat trying to get to the good part - the pics!

"The Professor" has beautiful hair and yes, she was very sweet to "talk hair" with you and allow you to take pics.

Girl, I thought you were telling her to relax HER HAIR!

It was about to be :clubu: and poppin'. :lachen:

READING.IS.FUNDAMENTAL...

I was thinking she was saying the same thing until I real all of it and started laughing at my own self for taking the post out of context! LOL
