When do u think u need more moisture in the hair? My hair is really soft and curly after washing.........i wish it could remain so even after it dries, my problem is my hair becomes really dry and hard to comb, do u think it need more moisture or maybe thats just the way my hair is? i have like 4 months of growth so i use fantasia gel to bring out more shine and curls... id like some good recommendations of oils, shampoos and conditioners.thanks...:look:

Whenever it begins to feel dry and thirsty would be my answer! It totally depends on your hair, the climate you live in, etc. Many naturals have had good results with water-based glycerine spritzes (http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=207621) followed by sealing with an oil like coconut, castor, jojoba, etc. I moisturise and seal every day, no passes. Some people have to moisturise several times a day! Also I'd be careful not to become reliant on gels containing alcohol as they will dry your hair further. I love Aubrey's Honeysuckle Rose and White Camellia conditioners for moisturising DCs, HTH.

I had the same drying problem you have when I used the IC fantasia gel for to long. Right now im using the cantu shea butter repair moisturizing leave in treatment underneath it.

I co wash.. apply the cantu and let if fully dry. Then I use the IC gel over it so that I don't get that cottage cheese crumbling in my hair from the cantu shea butter leave in.

i live in the middle east (qatar to be exact)...just imagine the weather, the humidity is like wow. i cant buy most products from here cos its not available, and when i get them online, either its prohibited or i need to go through a long process of declaring them of the ministry of health. shipment costs are very high too. Am thinking of trying the shea butter line from l'occitane.

Personally, I never comb dry unless my hair has been well stretched (and even then not so much- i barely comb wet.) that being said, i agree with pookiwah's suggestions.

Whenever your hair feels dry you should moisturize. I know some people do it every night before bed. But, I would think gel would dry it out and I wouldn't use it on a daily basis. JMHO

As far as recommendations since you live in the Middle East I wouldn't know what to suggest. Perhaps you can list what products you are using and your regimen.

Am thinking of trying the shea butter line from l'occitane.

I just got my shipment of she butter. I am going to mix a little it with some olive oil and IC fantasia gel to see how that works out.

I'm so sorry that you have a hard time purchasing products, you my just have to create something in your kitchen.

I think the gel is drying out your hair... what type of moisturizer are you using? EVOO and Shea butter should be lightly used to keep it moist. You can add in some aloe or glycerin if you want to stretch out.

I also baggy my hair if I feel I need an extra lift in moisture. When I'm finished baggying I seal with coconut oil....

these are products i am using now,
curls whipped cream
ouidad botanical boost
ic fantasia gel
curlicious cleansing cream
curls tea tree deep conditioner(deep conditioner)
curls coconut conditioner
and vatika coconut oil for sealing in moisture
i got all these from london, well except for the vatika oil,i have been on this regime for a week now. my hair is still dry and coarse. Am thinking maybe i should try the glycerin and rosewater.:nono:

Do you baggie or co-wash? These two things changed my natural hair so much..I co-wash in the morning, then use a moisturizer and baggy at night.

Now that you've said you live in a hot humid climate, I agree that you should try cowashing, find a way to define your curls instead of commercial gel, and get in your kitchen to make your own DC - honey, bananas, oils are all your friends. Try contacting Lucky's Mom, she is a natural ingredients great mixologist. Post her recommendations here to help others!
You'll need to play around with it to find something with the right balance, but if it comes down to it you may need to choose between a greasy feeling or your hair breaking from dryness girl!

Curls products were design to be co-washing. Hence regimen should be something like
Day One
Wash with curlicious cleansing cream
DC with curls tea tree deep conditioner(deep conditioner)
Curls whipped Cream

Day Two
Curls whipped Cream

Day Three
Co-wash with curls coconut conditioner
Curls whipped cream

Co-wash every other day and poo once a week. She states this on her site when one reads the regimen part of the web site. Combing natural hair dry is a bad idea.
