Does your post texlax shrinkage look like this? Like NOTHING changed when you processed?

It has happened to me before... I did a corrective :yep:

I have uncommonly resistant hair though, so I had no problems because of the corrective.

I probably wouldn't do something like that again anyway

I think your hair looks great though!

Pretty much  But that's what I wanted. The only time you see a difference is when I straighten, or the fact that it actually GETS straight now when I flat iron.

the pic with the "crispy" dry pony is really my biggest problem...because then it tangles again and it's extremely dry. I like almost everything but the 100% dry part. ... I'm still scared to flat iron... I'm lazy

This was using silk Elements. I think everyone reverts with this, except a rare few, according to this board. Thank you :)

I'm considering some KCCC or Afroveda the way this is looking.

I use Silk Elements and when my hair started to revert, I did a corrective. I processed it until it was a tad looser than I liked, but when it reverted the texture was what i liked.

yeah I had hair that looked the same as natural when I used revlon lye mild relaxer. I liked it better when i swithched to NO LYE. much looser

Nope... My curls/waves are looser... but maybe i just have a different hair type? The pictures of your hair wet is close to how my hair looks dry.

:yep::yep::yep::yep::yep::yep::yep::yep::yep::yep::yep::yep::yep::yep::yep::yep::sad:

My hair looks just like this if I wash it and only moisturize it. My hair looks like this and still feels soft. But gel changes that. Eco styler changes it and makes it stay that way. The recipe on my blog gave me similar results for longer but it didn't last. I can get this look from a few things but the problem is getting it to stay like this.

I don't think my hair looks so different than my natural hair and I have done correctives to have the look I have now (I never use relaxer straight or for more than 15 minutes - and I purposely use a relaxer that is known for reversion) but I want my hair to hang and show some length and the the texlax gives my hair a different quality it seems to change the feel of the the strands yet I still have the same size curls when dry.

My texlaxed curls are looser when wet and clump much easier than my natural hair. But henna seems to be making my natural hair more like the texlaxed texture and I keep on praying that as it gets long it will hang more. So I don't do another text to make it looser (sometimes I feel like I want to) and now I haven't used chemicals at all because my hair is so manageable and moisturized and doesn't tangle and doesn't break. I used to only texlax when my hair started taking longer to detangle and it was hair for me to manipulate without it being soaking wet or soaked in conditioner.

Pretty much  But that's what I wanted. The only time you see a difference is when I straighten, or the fact that it actually GETS straight now when I flat iron.

Off to check out your fotki.

I'm not alone! I thought that I was the only one whose hair was like this and responded this way when I text. Seems like a lot of ladies prefer to take more texture out. Or maybe they didn't have more to begin with. My hair is pretty resistant and coarse at the crown so it can take a lot.

when my texture did not appear to change after my texlax I did a corrective 2 weeks later and no problems.

This is why I don't use Silk Elements anymore.:nono: I use Revlon now.:yep: BTW, LaurynDoll your hair looks beautiful.

A BKT would fix you right up

Your hair is really pretty! I barely textlax and then do a BKT but that makes my hair straight. You may not want straight.

I use the Silk Elements with shea butter diluted with oil and my hair came out with very loose with managable curls, I plan to touch up every 6 months.

it practically looks the same! when do u plan to texlax again?
I don't know. I want to straighten it for a length check... but I don't think I'd want to texturize and straighten the same day (too much work).

I'm also considering to see if I can find something to work with the texture more in terms of shrinkage. The curl definition needs a little help also, but not as bad as the "bone dry shrinkage."

Thank you for the compliments... in addition to everyone else who did compliment. :)

I do want to try the BKT, I just don't want to do it myself yet. I will inhale the fumes instead of pasting fans everywhere LMAO.

Hey! Ladies I have a question.

What are the benefits of Texlaxed hair? Op, your hair looks completely natural and I wonder what is the benefit to texlax versus natural. Also, does texlax hair prevent heat damage when flat ironing? I want to straighten my hair but I am toooo afraid of heat damage and I was considering BKT which seems like it isnot as permanent.

What say you all.

Sorry, don't mean to be off topic but I had to ask.

Thanks!

Hey! For me, a texturizer ideally would siginificantly reduce shrinkage, and perhaps loosen the curl and increase a little porosity so that conditioners could absorb a little easier. This would make wearing my hair in "unstyled", wash and go or pulled back into a ponytail/bun styles easier. Considering my hair is VERY thick, it could also help with the bulk.

Depending on each person, a texturizer's use would vary. Some people don't mind their texture, but just want something way looser to deal with, and can relax to larger curls and waves, depending on their preferences and needs. It also helps style straighter styles more easily, in some instances, than just remaining natural.

Usually, my hair is prone to overprocessing. If I applied it like a relaxer, one second too long would leave me bonelaxed and then dull, especially in the front. I hated styling straight hair all the time, so texturizers helped me handle that in the past. I'm on the fence as to whether I want to loosen my look or work with what's there... my hair actually reverted with the texturizer I used.

No ma'am... not at all. Heat protectants and all around good hair care can only help prevent and minimize heat damage!

What say you all.

I think it looks pretty but, I know what you mean. Same thing happened to me about 5 months ago. I'm going to try again in a few weeks. What relaxer did you use and how long did you leave it on for?

Silk Elements... 48 minutes (with oil) the first application
30 the next

WHAT?!?! You're kidding?WOW! Your hair is really resistant. Do you think you'll try again with a stronger relaxer?

I'm a 4b, I did 10 mins with SE and had similar results to yours too. I have to say, my hair felt really nice afterwards and it was easier to straighten. Do you like the way it made your hair feel?

I found that particularly unusual...because with any other relaxer, lye or no-lye, it's VERY easy to overstraighten my hair, especially in the front. After reading several posts on SE ... I've found that SE tends to be very mild on heads in general.

I did not notice any changes in my hair's condition after the first or second wash post texlax either. It just went back to "business as usual" normal for me.
