Do alot of ladies use this conditioner as a staple to keep their ph in check? does it help with tangles and split ends?

I do. It totally changed my hair condition...... my hair always felt a little crispy and fried but I've been using this as a 30 second rinse after co-washes OR after dc as a rinse and my hair LOVES it. It is definitely a staple for me and I can tell when I forget to use it.

A Staple Here Too.:look:

It Totally Took My Hair to the Next Level and Helped with a Myraid of Issues I was having. Dry, Porous, Brittle and Damaged Hair. It turned all of those things around for me.:perplexed

I will always have it on Hand. And always use after every DC Treatment, especially when I DC with Heat. It will close the Cuticle and Lock in the Moisture from Your DC Treatments as well as Restore your ph Balance.

Yep. Most Definitely A Necessity for Me. And A Keeper. A Must Have:yep:

thankyou so much...does it seem to help with preventing knots and tangles?

Anubis: You know what totally allievates tangles? The Steamer.:yep: The Steamer + A Good DC renders "Knots/Tangles" virtually non-existent.

About the PC. Like the bottle says, it is definitely a "corrector" And it only says to leave on for about 30 seconds. I never leave it on past 30 seconds to 1-3 minutes. It's definitely a final rinse.

I think some Ladies ran into "problems/issues" when they tried to do something else with the Product other what it was intended for.:spinning:

I have read where some Ladies also mix it in with their Conditioners and have had "Good Results" and some have said they've also experienced Good Results putting it on their previously relaxed hair to prevent overlapping and to help protect hair during run-off.:yep:

thnx thats good to know i need to get me some:lick: is it fairly reasonable priced???

Do you guys use PC full strength? I've tried it twice, and it made my hair dry & crispy both times.

I'm wondering if it's too strong for my hair, and if anyone else needs to dilute it to get it to work properly...

I think it is about $8.00 -$9.00 for about 16 ounces.

You should only leave it on, I think it says 30 seconds. I found it best to use it as a final rinse. I never leave it on longer than about a minute or two. I think with this particular products, it is best to follow directions.

Is it safe to use every week? How often can you use this?

I have been using it weekly after each and every Deep Conditioning Treatment. I will rinse out the DC with Cool Water, Apply the PC. Rinse it and proceed with Styling.

I can't speak to Roux PC too much but I use Vitale's Positive Conditioner and my natural hair loves it. My 4a/b hair is smoother and the ends aren't crispy when I flat iron either.

^^^^^^^^^^

You are absolutely correct:yep:: There Are Multiple Brands of Porosity Control Conditioners.

I currently use Roux. But I also have Nexxus Ensure. I've used the Nexxus Ensure for Years. I also have French Stablizer Plus in My Stash with a ph of 2.5, however, I haven't tried this one yet.

I've even heard that Cream of Nature has a PC Product As well.:yep:

Ugh, it seems to work for everyone else except for me! I followed the directions, but I think I will try it ONE more time, but I'll dilute it with distilled water.

MStar...the PC conditioner was a MISS for me as well. Try the PC shampoo. It works great for my hair to maintain porosity, detangles, smoothes, moisturizes ect. This is pretty much the only shampoo I use now other than my chelating poo.

ITA with this entire post.

Here is an excerpt I posted in another thread some time back in answer to a question that was asked in the "Can I ask a dumb question" thread:

when would i use porosity control to get the best results.. - Well I'd imagine that if your hair is chemically altered in any way that you would need porosity control. Hair that has been chemically altered (dyed, colored, bleached, permed, relaxed, and even hot tools) is in an alkaline state and therefore the pH is thrown off balance (i.e. it should be at a pH of 4.5 - 5.5 which is acidic). Most relaxers have a pH of 10 and up which is extremely alkaline and can cause the hair to become extremely dry, tangled, lack luster, dull, have raised cuticles, static, etc.

Chemically altered hair has a negative charge hence all the problems above with it and non-chemically altered hair has a positive charge meaning that the cuticles lie flatter thereby, reflecting healthy shiny hair that is easily managed. That is where porosity control comes in - to correct the damage we've done to it via these alterations.

Now porosity control conditioning should be done before a relaxer or chemical treatment to prepare the hair for the shock of what it will be going through and thereby, minimizing all the problems I indicated above. It can also be used after a chemical treatment as well. I use it quite often actually, I'd say about every 10 days or so but just for about a minute or two before I shampoo my hair. Some people leave it on longer, but to each his/her own. Some people even put a little of it in their deep conditioner for added slip. Try it out different ways to see which is better for your hair.

Boy I sure hoped this helped someone...

It is now! Ever since the PC thread a while back by newflowers, I have added it to my shampoo regimen weekly. I refuse to shampoo without it! :) I actually use it as a finale rinse after my dc, or the final step in any other process I'm doing to my hair. I'm using the Roux porosity control moisture pack in a little gray pouch, in stead of the conditioner in the bottle. It really helps with the ph balance of my hair!:yep:

I used to use it every single wash whenever I used shampoo. But now that I've moved on to non sulfate shampoos and gentle formulas, I don't use it as often. Maybe after I clarify, definitely on days where I dc - so that's 1x a week (I wash my hair 2-3x). Once I found out the importance of hair's porosity, I added it to my regimen and it's been a keeper. I use it as per the directions (leave it on for 30 secs - 1 min) and then rinse and proceed to the next step in my regimen.

I try to keep my hair regimen very, very simple. The majority of my products are from two different brands, that's it. To say I don't like to color outside of the lines is an understatement!! So I was reluctant to try Roux Porosity Control but I love Tiffers hair and she uses it. Well.............let me tell you - it was the BEST thing that ever I could have ever done!!! I could go on and on but I'll keep it brief.

I usually color my hair with a semi-permanent color (Clairol Beautiful Collection; loves it!). But since I'm actively growing my hair and I relax, I decided to hold off on the coloring until I at least reach my short term goal of full SL. Well the greys don't care. They were taking over and I couldn't take it anymore!! So instead of coloring, I pulled out my trusty Aveda Black Malva Conditioner. I normally use this color depositing conditioner to enchance my color. Well here's what I did this time: I washed (chelated because I wanted to start "fresh"), used porosity control for about 5-10 minutes (I'm so extra!! I rarely follow instructions when it comes to conditioners!) rinse, deep conditioned overnight (because I was tired at that point!). The next morning I rinsed the deep conditioner, used the porosity control again, 5-10 minutes and then applied the Aveda Black Malva. I left that on without heat for a fews hours.

OMG!!! It looks as if I used a permanent color on my hair!!!! Usually when I use the Aveda Black Malva (with heat at that!) I still see a few greys poking out. Well not this time!! And I know for a fact that the porosity control had something to do with it!!

I said all of that to say - I'm going to purchase the BIGGEST bottle this stuff comes in!!! I love it!!!:lick:

Oh, and yes my hair seems to be more moisturized. And that's why I purchased it in the first place - because my hair has been a little (no alot) dry lately.

Whew!! That's my porosity control story!!! It's a keeper!!!

The first time I used it, I left it on for about 5 minutes. DISASTER! My hair was crunchy and it took a while to get it back to my "normal" state.

I still had this big bottle left and I know my hair is very porous, so I thought I'd try it again. I left it on for 1 minute and found that my hair retained more moisture. I got lazy with my routine and the PC fell by the wayside, but I've recently added it back in and so far so good. My hair is not nearly so dry so I'm going to try to keep it up.

Ya it's pretty much one of the only things I've used consistently since I've gotten it. I also joined the PC challenge. I use it every wash, either as a final rinse after I rinse out my DC or before I put on my DC to help it absorb better. I get good results both ways. It really helps with tangles and it is reasonably priced.
I don't know if I will repurchase my bottle only because I want to try out ACV as well.
But remember there are other pH balanced products out there, Elasta Qp shampoo for relaxed hair is one of them...

I just recently added it as a staple. Its great. I think by some miracle I saved myself from disaster though. I left it on for 40 mins but I mixed it with Pantene Relaxed & Natural Intensive Moisturizing. My hair came out good. Maybe it was the mixture. I read the 30 secs to be 30 mins in my crazy rush to get everything down b4 it got too late. I wouldn't suggest it to anyone. By the time I got to the shower it was 40 mins. It came out good though. Maybe, it was a fluke or the mositurizing mixture. All I can say is thank goodness. LOL !

Its a staple of mine!

What I do know is that the first time I used it I really didnt see a difference in the condition of my hair but with continue consistent use ie each time I DC... all I can say is that it is great and when my bottle starts running out I panic and buy another :-)

I used the CON brand of PC

There are multiple threads and a challenge on this subject. Its a staple for a lot of ladies, including myself.
It also helps neutralize after a relaxer.
And if you use it follow the instructions. 1 minute--not 5, not ten, not a half hour DC.

I have one question about this though. I was confused about which type of Roux Porosity Control everyone uses and WHEN they use it so I only used the conditioner so far. I Did also buy the big bottle of the shampoo but I got the SMALL bottle of the conditioner (being cheap). :perplexed

Now that little bottle of conditioner is gone and I'm wondering if anybody uses the shampoo and gets great results as well?? I haven't busted open the shampoo yet but I will if you say it works just as good. I also wasn't sure if it was a cleansing poo so I left it alone.

If not, I guess I'll be heading back out to pay for the big bottle of the conditioner.
