How are ya'll getting the ends to curl? I used flexirods and I had a hard time keeping them on, and my ends ended up straight:nono:. Would a regular magnetic roller or perm rod be better? And how are you rolling it (technique)?

Also are ya'll sitting under the dryer or airdrying? I airdried and it's still kind of moist after a day!

If you have links to other threads please provide! TIA:grin:

When I was transitioning I would use perm rods and magnetic rollers, they both worked well. I think I sat under a dryer a lot back then, but now I air dry.

curly perm rods! Yeah, the airdrying can take a looooong time. I do it, but if it isn't completely dry before I need to leave the house I sit under the dryer for a short while.

Thanks ya'll I will try the perm rods next time. Are you rolling them like a spiral set or just straight to the scalp? I want to make sure they stay on!

I use perm rods. And I braid until about 2 inches from the ends. That last 2 inches is what I roll around the rod.

I use pink magnetic rollers but I do cornrows...

I do the cornrows on 80% dry hair (airdried) and airdry completely.

Another braidout pic is in my siggy (on the right)... I always use the pink magnetic rollers...

HTH!

Hey, I use satin pillow rollers...they're great! soft and easy to sleep in...I got the idea from one of my hair inspirations...bronzeg

HTH :)

You can bantu knot the ends as well to get it to curl.

I use Satin Rollers....They are sponge rollers covered in Satin...I get them from CVS....They come in a mixed pack with different sizes.....Sally is advertising them now

I LOVE how your braidout came out. Thanks for the useful tip!

I use the same ones :yep:

Are you relaxed or Natural?

I'm natural and my ends have the tendancy to curl...if they don't I coax them into a coil (kind of like the coils people use to start out their locs) with a little bit of shea butter on my ends. Works great.

Thanks! I am actually transitioning so my ends are pretty straight, I tried coaxing but it wasn't working for me:nono:

I use sponge rollers at the very end. I also allow my hair to air dry 90%, then use a spray bottle to dampen, condition and moisturize it and then braid it...it usually dries overnight.

I am over here LMAO @ your siggy!!!:lachen::lachen:

I used an orange flexi rod for my last twistout or braidout(Can't remember) and my ends turned out nice too :yep: I got that idea from you. Thanks!

1.When you use a flexi rod, are you rolling them with 2 or 3 ends on one roller?
2.How do you sleep at night to make this last?
3.Do you rebraid them every day?
4.How long does it last?

I gotta know! Because if this works, I will wear this style til the end of the year! I am 15 weeks post and contemplating transitioning, or maybe I'll just touch up ... not sure yet...:spinning:

Sorry all, I know it is wrong to put that photo up, but I use it as my reminder to behave myself and do the right hair thing. I have a history of bad behavior and am lucky I have never ended up that way, but don't want to try my luck anymore.

1. I used one flexi-rod for my ends(5 cornrows).
2. I tie my scarf and it's actually more comfy than a magnetic roller.
3. Yes I rebraid my hair everyday - I moisten with my moisturising spritz and seal (sometimes I lightly apply my lustrasilk shea butter conditioner)
4. My braidouts could probably last all week but I cowash after 2-3 days.

If you decide to transition, let me know :-) Twistouts and braidouts are fantastic for my transition :yep:

I like that satin rollers are easy to sleep in. It helps if you use cornrows for your braidout, or flat twists, b/c then you can easily sleep on your sides if you like.

Bantu knots are great too - but if done wet = really tight curl. I've pincurled them too and that works. When I was transitioning I put just a tiny dab of foaming setting lotion on the ends before rolling and pinning flat.
