With all the product reviews, tutorials, and product junkies running around here, I always want SOMETHING new. My list grows every week. Alas, as I poor college student, I just can't afford some things. :nono:

If only I had my own little fund of monies to dip into should something catch my eye... :scratchch

Hey - GREAT IDEA!

I just recently BC'ed, so I don't have much hair to test on in the first place. :lachen: So what I've decided to do is to inflict upon myself a strict NO HAIR BUY rule. I already have everything that I need, and they all work well. I am DEDICATED to using up those products first.

Then. I have a little container of spare change that I add to at the end of each week. I am going to focus on saving my change and growing my hair. Once my hair reaches SL, I will cash my coins and buy the items on my wishlist!

Or if Christmas comes first (which it will. SL is a ways off), I might just save my money. :lachen: Aren't there stories of people saving for ten years and ending up with a bajillion dollars? (Not a bajillion, but you know what I mean).

You Might Want to Join the Use 1 Buy 1 Challenge. But You don't necessarily have to Buy 1. This might help you use up what you have on hand already w/o "wanting" to buy more.

That way, you'll be completing all your products & saving your money for some of the things on your wishlist that you really want. And also figuring out what really worked well for you, what did not and why?:look:

This Challenge, has helped me tremendously. This is the 2nd Full Week that I haven't bought any products. And I was buying something on a daily basis even as a Lurker (before joining) So, this Challenge has definitely helped.

Best Wishes to You on Your Hair Goals.:yep:

I've seen the challenge, but I never join challenges. :yep:

I usually pick up an item as soon as I'm at the store so I can talk myself into putting it down by the time I get to the register. So far, it's been working.

Whatever works Girl:lachen:

But it will help to keep you focused. I had 50-11 things all open at one time and you know that doesn't make any sense:spinning:

So, it's helping me use up all of that stuff before I open up anything else.

It is a really good idea. Use 1, buy 1. So simple, but I never would've thought of it.

It's really helping me to keep from buying things I don't necessarily need. I also don't buy right away. I let the product marinate for a while and then I buy it if I think I really want/need it.

When I first joined, I was an impulse buyer and still have got crap I need to use up. :lachen:

this is a good idea. i have things that i need to use up also. i will try not to buy anything els until i use up what i have. i know this will not last. atleast i am trying!

I save ALL my change. I only pay for things wit paper money. Then I put the change straight in a jar. I save about $110 a year! You will have $$ in no time.

I do the opposite though. I always try to give exact change. It's a habit I've picked up from my mom.

If something is twelve cents, I'd rather just get a whole dollar back as opposed to a handful of nasty, dirty coins.

I have to do it, too. I will need that $ when I BC. The products I use and that my hair likes are KCCC and KT.:ohwell: Ecostyler gel is a close second and that isn't too bad. KCCC will be used only on special occasions to stretch a dollar.

Maybe you could experiment with cheaper alternatives?

I was going to buy a curl defining product that was $25.
Now, I'm going to try this instead:
