the body shop cottonseed curl boost
qhemet alma & olive
kerastaste oleo curl leave in
shea butter
water, aloe vera, rosewater, olive oil mix in spray bottle

water, shea butter and castor oil

simple and cheap :yep:

I find that with all that other stuff (for me) it didn't do anything extra, just costs more.

I am experimenting with aloe vera at the moment but, I don't know how I feel about it... :perplexed

So far Water and Glycerine. My hair isn't fond of oils, but seems to be happy when I add a little: Olive oil or Shea and Coconut Mix (Shea alone is way too heavy for my hair) or Vitamin E.

After a long search the product’s that have made it to my moisturizer hall of fame are:
- Qhemet Biologics Olive & Honey Hydrating Balm
- Qhemet Biologics Burdock Root Butter Cream
- Seyani Hair Butter

Yes.
It is Awesome.... However..................The price goes up... and the quantity goes down....

Not a good look..........:nono:
Blasphemy!!!!! J/K. Please say more about the quality issue. I am currently using Qhemet products and I have sworn to never stray from them, but if the quality is no good anymore then I am staying far far away from them.

I love Karen's Body Beautiful Hair Milk in Lavender Vanilla. I would try Qhemet but everytime to go the website it is always sold out.

I agree with the bold and may I add Qhemet Coco Detangling Ghee. Qhemet has seriously cured my moisturizer PJism! It's just some serious moisture that LASTS. I will be in trouble if I couldn't get any. Now this is the kinda stuff that should be available to us in BSS, it's a shame.:nono:

I leave a little conditioner on my hair after washing. I seal with castor oil on damp hair.

I used to use rosewater and glycerine (available pre-mixed in the UK from Boots). It was just ok for my hair.

i use profectiv mega growth in the big jar pink in color on dry and wet hair and then i seal with vatika oil

:yep: I agree its cured my moisturizer PJism too and that this is the kind of product quality that should be readily available in BBS. I think the problem is that there are so many misconception’s about black hair/care and this translates into the ingredients used and product quality (or lack there of) that are on the whole, readily available in BSS.
I’m based in the UK and I’m very happy that the Qhemet website now offers UK shipping but really wished it was available in shop’s as each time i place an order, it has to be for a large quantity + shipment costs (by weight). With all things considered, the product is sooo worth the extra trouble.

Great thread. i am on the hunt for a good moisturizer myself. I have the Catnu leave in. It works good. I want something that leaves my hair feeling SUPER soft even after it dries though. i can't wait til I can afford some of this you guys are talking about.

OT-Chrissi(sp) your hair looks great in your siggy. What that style you have it in?(braid/twistout?)

When I was natural I loved Long Aid Activator Gel in the summer. I've heard great things about Qhemets, although I didn't get to dabble into that before relaxing my hair again. Maybe you should try that.

I always use NTM conditioners and leave-ins and then some shea butter....works like a charm.

If I want to use gel, I just avoid NTM everything because it has cones which cause white buildup.

Shea butter is the bomb though!!! Cheap and lpentiful...

I can't get down with some of these expensive products:nono: I think I'm going to go back to aloe juice + shea butter

BB Oil Moisturiser with a mixture of EVOO & Coconut Oil or Safflower Oil to seal. These leave my hair moisturised and silky, without feeling greasy.

I forgot about Giovanni Direct Leave In. I loved it. I switched to Karen's because her products smell so nice. But Giovanni is great too and you can buy it locally.

Light moisturizers:

  • Oyin Honey Hemp Conditioner
  • Paul Mitchell The Conditioner
  • Kinky-Curly Knot Today

Heavy moisturizers:

  • Qhemet Biologics Alma Heavy Cream
  • Shea Butter

I'm glad you all posted these. None of the stuff I've tried seems to leave my hair SOFT and that's what I'm trying to get. I may have to give the QB a try, they sell it at one health food store in GA. I was going to order the samples but that July 5th sale cleaned them out. Is everyone applying to wet or dry hair? I have a TWA so there's no sectioning or separate product for scalp and length
