Hi everyone! I have been a lurker since May of this year and finally paid my $6.50! I just had a baby girl in June and the month before was due to relax my hair. I usually do so every 3 months but when I found this site I decided to stretch to six months. Well, August 1st will be the end of my six month stretch. I wanted to try a new relaxer. I have very coarse strands and my hair is very reistant to relaxers. I have narrowed down my options to these two but can't decide. Which relaxer is best for getting my hair straight. Thanks in advance for everyone's input.

:love2:I have the Linange Shea Butter (Lye) Relaxer.

I haven't use the Mizani BB. I absolutely Love the Linange.

I've used the Linange twice. I am a new "DIY" So the Linange Worked Very Well for Me. It was easy to Apply. It Processed Nicely. I didn't burn. Overall, It was a Great Experience.

Most Definitely, I will continue to Purchase this Relaxer.:yep:

I use Mizani Butter Blend Mild Lye and I liked it so much, that I gave my beloved huge tub of Design Essentials relaxer to my baby sister:grin:. I have never used the Linange, sorry.

I use to be a Faithful Design Essential User too:lachen:

I agree. The Linange is an excellent relaxer. I use the no lye version and it works great for me. My hair comes out straight, silky, smooth, and with none of the dryness or straw-like feeling you can get with some relaxers. Nice and shiny, too! :yep:
I haven't used the Mizani BB, either.

LINANGE is definitely better! I've used both relaxers and Mizani BB can't hold a candle to Linange. Mizani BB underprocessed me way too much even after going about 25 minutes into applicatiow. Even though it is supposed to be gentler, it still burned me.

Linange did not burn one single bit. My hair had a silkiness unlike I'd ever had, even under a trusted stylists care. My hair relaxed hair retained the silkiness up to this day. It's very gentle on the scalp and it doesn't smell chemically. To get the full experience, you should use the neutralizing conditioner as directed.

The bolded is what I like about the MBB relaxer (I'm texlaxed now). It never ever burned my scalp even when I had forgotten to use a base. we don't carry Linange here in the Bahamas and if we did, I'm sure it would cost an arm and a leg so, I don't think I'd want to buy it for this reason. If it works for you, that's wonderful. I love love love Mizani Butter Blend Relaxer.

I LOVE Mizani Butter Blends and I think it works best when you use the whole system from start to finish. I too like that fact that it doesnt get the hair bone straight. I dont mind my roots being a little underprocessed because when I go back for my subsequent touch up I wont be worried about over processing of over lapping.

Excellent point charmtreese.

I've used both.

I prefer Mizani. Both burn the same amount. If I go over 18 mins with any relaxer it burns. Linange left my hair dry, I did not like it at all, or the mask. I still have the mask sitting in my closet.

I have used both and prefer Linange. Mizani BB regular was too strong and damaged my edges and hair. Mizani BB mild totally under processed my hair like I have never experienced before. My hair was so dry and I was so upset. Both were done by my hairdresser. So I took my hair back into my own hands and self relaxed with Linange and my hair was totally relaxed, felt great and still feels great after approx. 5 weeks. It was not bone straight which is fine with me. I did not use the neutralizing conditioner but instead used a neutralizing shampoo. I will use that conditioner next time. But I did use the deep restructuring conditioner. Linange is a keeper for me. I have not self relaxed since the '90s so I know my technique will improve with time.

I think this fact makes MBB the best for fine hair, it really protects the hair's health over time and it suited for those who don't want to be bone straight. You would have to pry MBB out of my cold dead fingers to get me to stop using it!

I've only used Mizani Butter Blends. My hair takes relaxer well, so it came out straight, but not without MAJOR discomfort! It started to burn after only a couple of minutes. Perhaps I had been roguh with my scalp or perhaps I didn't base well enough, but either way, I was whimpering the whole time!

But it came out totally gorge tho. I guess beauty hurts, huh?

I'd love to try the Linange. Where do you ladies get it?

With the disclaimer that I haven't tried Mizani BB, I have to say that I love Linange! I recently began self-relaxing, and I never realized how strong, healthy, and vibrant my hair could be after a relaxer until I started using Linange. I particularly like the neutralizing conditiner step. My hair is in much better condition than when my stylist was relaxing it.

Here's a link to my thread on my first experiece self-relaxing with Linange: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=363929&highlight=can+believe

Hi Barbie! I live in nyc so it's pretty accessible in the bss around here. You can order it from bluebeez.com the sell the set at pretty good prices.

After much research and help from everyone on the forum. I decided to try the Linange relaxer. My last three relaxers were Mizani Butter Blend. I had a very negative reaction to the Sensitive Scalp relaxer. The last time when I used the Normal my hair barely took it and MBB burns.

I live in NYC. When I started out today I thought it would be easy to locate the relaxer and it was. The problem was locating the neutralizing conditioner. I went to several stores in Harlem, East Harlem, and the Bronx. I finally decided to go to Parkchester and as usual they had it.

I took the relaxer to my hairdresser who was familiar with the relaxer but never used it before. As she was putting it in my hair she could not stop saying how much she liked it. She saying it throughout the entire process of putting it in my hair, rinsing it out, and putting in the neutralizing conditioner. At one point she told me she did not care if I like it because she did. My hair was soft, thick, but straight.

Below is the regime I used today.

  1. Ojon Pre-Treatment
  2. Linange Shea Butter Relaxer
  3. Linange Neutralizing Conditioner
  4. Aveda Damage Remedy Shampoo (Two Washes)
  5. Aveda Damage Remedy Treatment (20 minutes)
  6. Beautiful Brown Semi-Permanent for Gray Hair (Midnight)(25 minutes)
  7. Moroccan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner for rinse.
  8. Graham Webb Silk Protein Leave in
  9. Aphogee Keratin & Green Tea Restructures
  10. Folicure Formula for Fine Hair
  11. Alter Ego Serum
Results:

My roots are straight but not relaxer straight. It as if my hair was always this way. My hair has body, shine, and feels so moisturized. Even my color looks like it took better then usual. I love my hair and I definitely think I will be able to stretch for over twelve weeks with this relaxer. I am so happy I took a chance and listen to all of you who gave great feedback. This is my new relaxer and I will tell anyone and everyone to make the switch. I cannot get better results with any other relaxer and especially at such a reasonable price.

I will keep you posted on my progress and will try to post pictures. I keep having problems.

Bumping because after a 28 week stretch I have starting to eye Mizani BB.... I am sooooo torn between these two. HELP!

DEAD @ the bolded (pardon the pun) :lachen:

I'm hoping I like it as much too!

You guys make it hard to decide which relaxer to choose. LOL.

I'm was trying to choose between MBB, Hawiian Silk, Alter Ego and now I have to add Linange to the list.

I really wanna try the lineage
But settled for SE regular lye and really like the results. does anyone think that the lineage and SE are comparable to each other?

I usually get MBB sensitive scalp when my stylist does my hair it seems okay, also I am texlaxed so I don't get the full effect. I brought some Linange Lye and I will be doing a self texlax in a few wks so I can compare. I need something that will not burn my scalp, because the MBB sensitive scalp still does.

I tried the Shea Linange relaxer in May...This did nothing for my hair.:nono:..Nothing...Maybe they need a stronger strength..A complete waste of my money..I am glad it worked for you guys.

I am going to try the Butter Blend..My sister used this and her hair looks good..
