I've been seeing a lot of progress threads so thats good.

I'm hiding my hair under neath this half wig until Dec. Im getting very bored and impatient with it. I am 12 weeks post and the NG is VERY thick. And I'm getting lots of knots, tangles, and dryness.

Im thinking about relaxing this week.

So how's your hair doing?

My hair is doing...ok.

I'm very tempted to cut it really short because it's so uneven. But that's not really a good reason. I'm going to get a weave soon so I can just ignore it for a long time.

Ignoring it helps. I plan on cutting my hair also.

Is it uneven because of damage or it's just growing like that?

I am happy. I am retaining my length, and even have some growth. Baggying every night and DC 3x week really is helping. BKT is giving me easy WNG. I believe I will be at my goal length, by the end of the year :yay:

Well part of it is because that's how it grows. I mean, if you shave your head bald and grow 7inches all around, the front might reach your nape, but the back will reach your shoulder. So that can't be helped.

But the other part of it is because a while back I was on medication that caused me to shed hair until I had bald spots. So there are random spots of my hair that are just shorter than the others.

It annoys me. The back is the longest part so I could just cut that. But, it's literally the longest my hair has ever been so I refuse to cut it. Hence, the weave so I can just pretend it doesn't exist for a while.

Since you're bored with your wig, have you considered buying a new wig style?

Fine, just fine. Big Chop has been a Godsend. I love my twists. I use leave-in, water spritz every morning, oil my ends then go about my business.

I am currently 8 weeks post and this has been the longest I have ever stretched between relaxers. My goal is 12 weeks. I'm still learning to manage my new growth...

Good for you! So we should be seeing some progress pics soon right?

How long is your hair msa? I'm not natural, well I was until 3 yrs ago, but I love looking at pics of natural hair. Are you a type 4?

Oh yes I do want to buy a new wig. I have a few I like but I wondering how I can blend it in since my relaxed hair doesnt get very straight and I;m tired of the headband look. I honestly dont like fake hair at all. I cant wait until my hair grows out.

A lot of people say that if your new to stretching take it like one or two weeks at a time. Like if you usually go for 8 weeks try going for ten then next relaxer go for 12, etc. But if your hair is manageable then go for as long as you can.

You have a very simple reggie. How often do you redo your twists?

All things considered, my hair is doing well. I've just started learning and introducing an ayurvedic regimen into my hair care, and my hair is really thriving as a result. I'm also on MT, trying to get a lot of growth in a short period of time. I'm keeping it twisted up all summer, and will probably be phony puffing it in the winter.

Well I just measured the other day and the hair in the back is just about 11 inches. But the majority of my hair is about 8 inches. I say I'm a 4ab...but I really think I'm a 4b with coils instead of a 4b with no curl pattern whatsoever. I almost never take pics of my hair because I don't think there's really much to take pics of. I always say I'm going to start though.

I can understand what you mean about the headbands ALL the time. It can get annoying. If you get a wig that's not too silky straight you should be able to blend it pretty well though.

You know, I don't dislike fake hair, I just hate feeling like I have no other choice but to wear it in order to grow my hair out.

Things are moving along for me, but I must say my hair feels a little dry after this last relaxer (7/11/09) :perplexed... I don't think I'll be waiting two weeks for my next wash, I feel like I need to get back to my routine. DC 2x's a week and spraying with my rose water and Aloe vera juice. :yep:

Yeah I feel the same way. I have to admit I got the best growth wearing box braids, my hair never grew like that ever.

Hair is doing wonderful. I am getting great growth this summer, especially with baggying. Hair is healthy, no complaints here. Started summer with some hairs just below WL, not sure what to call that, but I am hoping to be fully whatever that is by the fall or beyond, my hair really grows in the summer.

Really well. I thought I was facing a set-back after my last relaxer. I lost more hair than I'm accustomed to, but my hair seems to be fairing pretty well. Should make BSL by my next relaxer.

I'm not happy with my hair right about now. I have been wearing sew-ins for like forever now. I moisturize and seal my braids under and I just feel I am not retaining length.

I see ladies growing from shoulder to apl in 6months and I'm barely reaching full shoulder after 2 years on the board. Smh

Its okay. I am still growing-cutting-growing my color or should I say colors out. I cut my hair into a slightly inverted bob earlier this summer which has now grown out a little so I got the back and sides graduated. I cut a lot of hair off this year but it is all good. Ironically, even with all of the color I put my hair through, it never broke.

Currently giving a super long stretch a serious effort. Contemplating getting some braids or something to help me along but I need to do some more research first.

It's doing better. I'm about 18 weeks post loving my waves/coils..can't wait till all the unrepairable damaged ends finish breaking.

Doing great, been MIA for a while, but highlights are healthy and I just got a tiny trim 2wks ago. I'm 16wks post and may get a touchup this weekend (luv new growth!!!). Aiming for WL. :)

My new challenge has been pincurls, and I'm glad to say I've been pretty successful with them. :) Gotta update the fotki this weekend!

I thought that I was done with protective styling (with braids extensions) when I took out my last set back in April but I came to my senses and put some braids in last week. My hair tends to thrive when protected. I think it's doing better now than when I left it loose for 3 months.

I'm feeling ya ticktock - thick loose natural hair is no joke! After 4/5 days of my loose hair, I just got canerows and braids (no hair added) - I can't handle it! Especially since I'm trying to minimise heat exposure, lawd help mi!

Yeppers! :yep::yep:

I second that opinion! I do 2 days at most and twist it right back on up. My hair left loose for any longer than that--and that's with cowashing every day--is a sight to behold. And not one of those good sights either :nono:.

My hair is a mess, this transistioning thing is HARD!!! I am like 4 months post...It is tangley, and my new growth is rough. However I did manage to help out with dryness by doing a hot oil treatment and mosturizing daily my ends and length.

The tangles are better since I incorporated the Apple cider vingar rinse (porosity control doesn't cut it!).

Have you thought about getting a hair steamer? I'm getting one myself. I've heard wonderful things about it enabling deep conditioners to absorb into the hair much better than dryers or heating caps and results in easy to untanble, moisturized hair. If you do a search, I think you'll find that some transitioners are using it with great success. :yep:

My hair is doing all right. I'm trying to figure out what's going on with this spotty breakage, I see. I think it might need a little protein so I'm doing an Aphogee 2 minute treatment followed by a deep moisturing conditioner.

I'm a little ticked at myself, because while I was able to retain crazy length over the winter by wearing African headwraps almost constantly, the pressure on my hair line has thinned my widows's peak. :wallbash:

So, now I'm using scalp massages and boundless tresses to nurse it back to health. I love my widow's peak. I'll also be incorporating ayurvedic practices into my hair regimen. It's my hope and prayer that I'll be able to thicken my hairline, retain and growth the length of my hair, through use of the steamer and healthier hair practices.

Not the best, but not the worst. I've been abusing it with co-wash n gos, and no shampoos, no DCs, lots of mousse..::sigh::

I'm going to make it up to my hair . Tonight I'm going to BC and braid it up. Going to the salon for a trim and evening up the hack job i did on my BC tomorrow. And I'm going to be a bunning machine for a while.

My hair is saying it will not stay in this abusive relationship - and its started breaking a little and giving me rough ends to show its serious! I gotta lay off the heat ya'll, and DC and baby my ends... I can't see any retention of growth right now - its stalling because I overdid the heat usage recently.

My hair is doing great right now. My hair had been breaking for about a month until I used motions cpr shampoo and conditioner and then used the moisture plus conditioner. My hair stopped breaking instantly. I am in love with my hair again!!!!!!!!!!

good!

growing like a weed--all my hair needs is a good balance of protein/moisture---and im good to go--via my glycerin, avocado oil and infusium mix--i dont wash my hair often---although i think CO washing is great--my hair thrives when it is left alone and super moisturized
