I will be leaving shortly to go to the health food store to make a few purchases, but I see alot of people using rose water. Can someone tell me what is so great about it and what the benefits of using this. I may want to pick it up if it is beneficial.

Well IMO, rosewater doesn't really do much but add fragrance. I've read that it's supposed to be beneficial but I found that it was just regular water that smelled good.

I think if you want to make a moisturizing spritz, aloe vera juice is a better buy.

Thanks for the info. I was reorganizing my hair been and came across an 99.8% aloe vera gel tube in there. I think i will use that.

just a heads up-- if your hair is very protein sensitive, aloe vera (juice) may not be for you b/c, although moisturizing for some, it also consists of protein.

The protein in aloe vera is collagen protein which is a great water binding agent and is known to improve the elasticity of the hair.

I think if you're going to use aloe vera to help moisturize, you shouldn't have too much of a problem, especially if it's mixed with something else. If you already have a lot of protein in your regimen then pay close attention to how your hair reacts.

I'm extremely protein sensitive and learned this the hard way :perplexed

this may be true for some, but not all. my personal experience concerning experimenting with aloe vera juice in my moisturizing spritzes has been a negative one. but then again, my hair is very protein sensitive

me too. i had so much breakage using aloe vera juice :nono:

everyone's experience differs

I would mix 1 part aloe vera 1 part glycerin. I loved this. I did this when I as relaxed on braidout and my hair was so soft and shiny. Best braid out ever. I can't wait to try this on my natural hair.

I was also wondering about rosewater and will take this off my list of things to try.

Yes, I do this too and sometimes I add EVOO.

I couldn't live without my rosewater and glycerin mix. I use it to moisturize once or twice a week. It's the only thing I used in my dd's hair when she had kinky twists in for 2 months. When I took her hair down, no buildup whatsoever, and her hair was soooooo well moisturized. No take down spray, detangler, or conditioner needed at all. I  it!
