I'll be honest, I was so mad, seeing ALL OF THESE BC threads. I was like, "Noo! I wanted to BC, you koosamagoopagoops!" But you beat me to it.

ANYWAYYY.

I'd got it into my head last week that no matter what, I was going to cut my hair. I was really looking forward to the low to no maintenance that being shaved would portend. No more shower caps, I can sit in the rain, I can swim, I can sweat! But at the request of a family member, I would cut down to a TWA just to appease her (whatever). And if I don't like it (which I don't) I would go ahead and shave.

So, last night, my boyfriend came over and we got to snipping while he kissed, stroked, stared at, and sang to my falling hair. :ohwell:

Then we made grilled cheese sandwiches.

But anyway, today, Sunday, I'm already bored with it - I look like a tennis ball. :hair: So today, I'm going to go into the barbershop and have them do it the way I wanted originally.

Let the journey begin! Pictures as soon as I upload them tonight.

I know, I'm transitioning. My last relaxer was in May 09. Oprah really inspired me as well as a few of my family members. I was natural from 2000 -2003. As I type this I get tired just thinking about what I'll have to go through while transitioning. I may just cut it off but I would like to make it to APL this year.

I'm still sounding out "koosamagoopagoops." :lachen:

Congrats and I'm sure your tennis ball head of gawjus. BTW, thumbs up to your boyfriend for being so supportive of you. That's sweet.

I even spelled it wrong. :lachen:

It's from a cartoon called Dexter's Lab. I tried to find a video for you, but no luck.

And thanks! :yep: And he's a good one - he really got into it too; turning my head, asking if it was even, everything.

I'm happy your family supports you! I've got two on my side, but my mom is not pleased and my brother keeps laughing. I'm trying to keep my head up, but it does hurt my feelings a little.

Good luck on your transition! I know I couldn't do it long term - it takes a lot of work.

I concur!! I too BC'd recently (3 weeks ago). All summer, I've been seeing other BC threads EVERYWHERE!! I am so happy for everyone. It is like so many people took a giant step in achieving really healthy hair.... and a beautiful new beginning!!

CONGRATS on your "tennis ball" Lol (J/K, I'm sure its very cute) but I can definitely understand wanting it the way you want it. I too visited a barber shop 5 days after my first BC. Can't wait to see pics!! :)

When I read it looks like a tennis ball I laughed so loud because it reminds me of a T.I. song. It has a skit at the beginning with Mike Epps and some woman talking--sounds like Tamala Jones--and he said something about her getting all her hair cut off and it looks like a "dirty tennis ball". Too funny!

I've never had my hair cut by a barber. It's exciting.

My SO has been great. He's got work and the shop closes early, so he's been texting me, "tell them to box the neck," "tip this," "tell them if he cuts you," etc., etc.

It's all another language to me.

I haven't heard it. Now I have to look that up. :lachen:

I think it's "Why You Wanna Go and Do That". That cd stays in my car hmm it might be on my ipod too so I gotta check it out.

maybe something to do with the warm weather. i cut my hair last year in july and kept it short till i started growing it in march.

enjoy your new hair

SO!

Being in the barbershop takes just as much time as going to the hair salon! :perplexed: Or maybe just the first time does. The guy who did my hair was very gentle and very thorough - I LOVED the whole experience. I didn't cut low like how boys do, but he evened out everything perfectly AND I LOVE IT!

I went from :hair: to :afro:

As for the experience - the barbershop is funny, very laid back atmosphere, and the buzz of the clippers almost put me to sleep! But Jeff, my barber, was so meticulous. He took his time and gently picked out my hair as he went along. He asked me questions, talked to me, told me to tell him if the clippers hurt at all, why I decided to cut my hair and told me natural hair was what's up.

He was funny, too. When he first came in, I thought he was just a scraggler and was just hanging around. He joked to another barber that he would cut off his dreads if he would wear them. :spinning: The barber declined, to which Jeff said, "Hey, my hair is shampooed, clean, and conditioned. I have a good grade of natural hair." :lachen: I also learned he prefers Krispy Kreme to Dunkin Donuts, and Pizza Hut to Dominoes. :yep:

Anyway. Here are what I know you all want - the pictures! These are from my webcam, so I apologize for the low quality. I'll post up more when I get back from my date. :yep:

That's what I think too. One poster said all the weaves and wigs have come off in her place of employment - too hot for that mess. :lachen:
And summer is a great time to try something new and take advantage of the heat-induced growth. :yep:

I love your BC in your avatar! Very pretty face! :yep:

And thanks!

Very pretty! Congratulations! You look beautiful!:afro: I'm trying to fight the urge to BC because I want a few inches of NG before I do. I saw a lady with a TWA coming out of Winn Dixie last night and she looked FIERCE. I felt the urge to BC after I saw her hair.

Thanks, Platinum! I had about an inch or so of NG, but when I started cutting, I kept cutting too low. My SO did a better job than I did. Either way, I'm happy with how it turned out.

I absolutely love BC pics so the more the merrier for me :yep:

Congrats on your BC! It looks great, you have the head for it.

*scratches head at Tennis Ball comment and shrugs*

That is Hot. Sexy & Fly! Go Ahead and Own that Look !:yep: It's Gorgeous!:yep:

WOW! your BC is SOOO pretty on you!!! I LOVE the way he edged your sideburns! It looks very polished! You're making me wanna chop my 15 month post hair. This is the first month I have been truly bored with my hair. I've gone from wanting to color to not back again to wanting to chop. LAWD...you are making it hard for me....
