Hey everyone....does anyone go to an HBCU ( Historical Black College or University)..or are in college?? if so which one?? How do you keep your hair looking good all school year??..its a problem im about to face when i go back to school. :ohwell:

I go to school on " Hilltop" High....hopefully you know what University that is..lol:grin:

Lol! I'm a student at the Hilltop-- I took this last year off, but I'm going back in the fall.

I don't think you'd have too much of a problem, there seems to be a LOT of salons in the area. I'm more of a DIY person myself, and I'm natural now so I don't have much use for them...but theres a BSS practically on campus if you're into that sort of thing, as well as a near by whole foods and a near-ish Trader Joe's. I have yet to find any Sally's, but with those other three and all the salons, there should be no problem.

I will say I think the water is a little hard, so chelating/clarifying regularly (yay lookie at the things I've learned at LHCF!) is a good idea. Also, if you live on campus 'Hilltop' men have no illusions about a black woman's hair may look like if she say, wrapped in it a scarf and decided to go to class or something. Especially in the morning classes. It's not for me, but you won't get any weird looks either.

I went to an HBCU for undergrad & I am at a different one for professional school. I wear roller-sets (blowout straight) and I wear buns and phony ponies when I am too deep in studying to style my hair.

I kept my hair cut in a bob in undergrad & just wrapped it everyday.

IDK, lots of people rock everything from natural hairstyles like puffs and fros to weaves and short cuts. The beauty of an HBCU is that you get to "do you" without worrying about being judged (from MY experience).

If this "Hilltop" University is what i think it issssssss then I attend as well. I just do whatever makes me happy without caring what anyone else thinks. you'd be surprised at who thinks what is lovely. :)

My HBCU was on a hilltop as well.... LoL, no clue if we're speaking of the same hill though (AAMU.) But my regimen has pretty much been the same for at least a decade... wraps, rollersets, buns, and flat twists.

I go to Spelman College. An as a natural, I do twistouts and wear ponytails. There are alot of people of my campus who are natural so I don't feel out of place. Hair is hair. People wear it differently. It doesn't matter what people think about it.

im coming back as a sophmore.. and i know all about the salons.. and they are way to expensive for my blood. last year i co-washed my hair every few days and kept it moving. i just wanted to look a little more cuter this year.. cause at times i did kind of look a HAM. lol.

I go to PVAMU Prairie View A&M University where its country as heck. Nothing is there so if you dont have a sense of styling your SOL and did I mention we have bad humidity. So wearing your hair out isnt always a good idea.

Luckily I go to nursing school in DT Houston so I dont have to worry about that anymore.

I went to an HBCU. The routine that I have now is similar to the one in undergrad. I'm pretty DIY so rollersets, flatironing, curlformers/rod sets. Anything. I wish I was back in undergrad. I had more time for my hair then.

I go to an HBCU and this is my senior year and I play on rocking braids until I graduate! Everyday is like a fashion show at my school and I cant afford to walk around looking a HAM! but last year I basically bunned and wore two french braids pinned up and wore it down on days I had presentations

Lol I think i read the question wrong.. I took it as 'how do you manage'. In the other sense (that everyone but me saw x.x) Wear it however you want :) There's a lot of individuality to be seen on campus, and you'll see people wearing every style imaginable, clothes wise and hair-wise..

I went to Alcorn State and pretty much did rollersets every week and wrapped at night. Worked for me.

This is really random, but our last relaxer was on the same day! How long do you plan on stretching for?

I went to HU for undergrad and I'm currently at a junior college for an A.S.
I pretty much kept my hair in long senegalese twists at HU....didn't have to wake up any earlier than I already had to in order to get to class and they lasted 6-8 weeks!
In between twists I flatironed it straight.
