Flat-Twist Out Attempt *Pics*

I've tried braidouts, and they worked pretty well for me.

But I saw the pattern people were getting with flat twists, and I wanted to see how it would look. Unfortunately - I couldn't flat twist to save my life.

Last night, for whatever reason, it just kinda clicked. So here's what I got today ...

Plus my NEON orange nails (which I chipped! ) and shirt of the moment.

It came out really cute, I prefer them over regular twistouts.......very nice

Wow, it turned out great I've been transitioning for a few months and this style has become my staple after seeing it on LHCF 3 weeks ago. The eyes and nails are also fabulous. Love the color!

ETA: Did you use any product in particular to hold the style, i.e. setting lotion?

Last night I tried a new product - Sally Hershberger 'Wreck and Roll Texturizing Gel' it was on sale for $2.00 at Walgreens so I figured it was worth a shot.

I spritzed with water, added the "gel" and then a dollop of my coconut/acai/olive oil mix. It worked pretty well. Kinda smells like perfume.

I did 6 flat twists - which is like a cornrow, but instead of braiding 3 sections of hair against your scalp, you twist two strands and add more hair as you work your way down the length - just like a cornrow or french braid. HTH erplexed

Did you start off with dry hair and then spritzed it until it was damp?

Yes.

I use a fine mist bottle with plan water to dampen each section, then add my products (whatever I'm using to moisturize with or hold the style) and then detangle and twist.

I do it for multiple reasons. I think damp hair will hold the style better, b/c it dries into the shape, and it's easier to work with b/c it's more flexible than dry hair.
