I have not used heat at all this year. The last time I flatironed was Nov '08. I plan to do my first length check in Sept. when the DC every other day challenge is over. Tiffers, thanks to this post I joined my first challenge. Thanks girl :yay:

At the first of the year, about every other week. THEN, I cut it down to once a month. That was around March, for length checks. I am now once a month with doing BKT. That will include my birthday straightening next month :yep:

I've used heat twice this year. Flatiron once and rollerset w/ roots blown out once. I'm trying to stop myself from straightening with a flat iron next month.

Just once so far this year, to trim my ends, and it was a lack-luster effort at that. When I first joined, I looked at all the beautiful flat-ironed heads, studied up on and bought products to help me straighten with better, longer-lasting results (Redken Heat Glide, Sabino Moisture Block) but then I got overwhelmed by the dizzying choices of flat irons, and started having so much fun rediscovering other techniques instead - twists, braidouts, twistouts, rollersetting overnight, etc. - that I don't really feel like straightening any more.

I flat ironed once and put the curling iron to it a few times in the last couple of days due to a flexirod set gone wrong. Plus I don't really give a s*** about my relaxed ends anymore since I've made the decision to go natural lol. If my ends get damaged, I'll just cut them off.

I've only used it about 3x so far. I tried to straighten my roots after I rollerset, but it was a huge waste of time, they puffed right back up!

Yay!!!!! Good for you!!! :pepper:

Before LHCF I was using heat at least once a week or once every 2weeks. I've only used heat once since joining LHCF and learned how to transition without heat. The one time was for a presentation I had to give at work and that was after rollersetting and doing a wrap and it was still a bit poofy since my natural hair was highly upset and kept rebelling.:lachen: The straight look only lasted a week and I was so nervous my hair wouldn't revert since I know what heat damaged hair looks like now.:wallbash:

Since January I have used heat once to flat iron my hair. Since this time last year I have used heat twice (I flat ironed my hair back in September or October).

Once when my stylist did my last retouch earlier this year.

I don't plan on flat ironing again anytime soon; certainly not for the duration of the year anyway.

I've Used Heat this year about twice. I flat ironed a coupla' times in May after my 2nd "Successful" Self-Relaxer. And I could feel myself start to get carried away again with relying on heat. So, I promptly put it away.

I started to see myself wanting to pull it out everyday.:wallbash: Which is easy to do with you are addicted to heat and straight styles.:perplexed

Like I am (wish I could say "was") But I saw how easy I could get out of control.:nono:

And Now that I am Phony-Bunning all Summer, it will stay quitely in the drawer where it belongs. I was going to say: In the trash......but it's "New"

This is the thing, I can already forsee what will happen. I'll go and buy a flat iron, and start using it regularly, especially when I start seeing new lengths. I'll start getting carried away, then I'll be right back to square one.

I'm just not going to buy one - that's the only way I won't be tempted!

I have not used it at all yet this year. I think I will in the next few weeks because I am tired of rollersetting, I can't prevent my hair from puffing up really huge.

Maybe once. Like you Tiff I'm a rollersetting girl. My hair just loves rollersetting. It's always nice bouncy curls when I rollerset. They really help hide the ng.

Just once this year. Back in march for my sister's wedding. Although it wasn't "hard core"- my stylist just passed the hot comb through my edges a couple of times.

During the winter I had and choice but to use heat. Boston winters are no joke! I actually rollerset AND flatiron my hair. I think I have used heat 15-20 times.
Its been raining every frickin day so I've been dcing and co-washing.

Call me old fashioned, but you'll never get me to flatiron without rollersetting first.

I thought that I was the only one that did this. To me, this is the healthiest way to use heat. But once I've rolleset, my curls are so nice I just don't even bother with the flat iron. I have gotten use to my ng not being as straight as the other hair.

Zero. I have a demanding job that only allows me to do very basic things with my hair and besides my hair swells with humidity.

Best,
Almond Eyes

Once. And ended up with heat stretched hairs in the front!

Same here. :ohwell: The front of my hair is loosely curled, so it never needs as much heat as the back. But do you think these stylists keep that in mind? Nah, son.

That's why I'm straightening my own hair from now on.
