The benefits of rollersetting

Rollersetting has helped me maintain my length because I use less heat and manipulate my hair less than if I had used a flat iron or curlers. I've been roller setting for at least 15 years.

Rollersetting has allowed my hair to thrive because now the only heat I use is the indirect heat to sit under the dryer. Before I started rollersetting, I was flat-ironing once, sometimes twice a week which was not good for my hair at all.Rollersetting leaves my hair with more bounce and long-lasting curls, which flat-ironing rarely ever did. While it does take a long time to do, I know that it is better for my hair.If I do want a straighter look, all I have to do is a saran wrap treatment which gives you a flat-ironed look without all the heat.

All of the above. Plus....

I had to flat iron my hair for my sister's wedding last weekend because I was in Mexico and couldnt take a dryer of course. I am rollerseting my hair (right now) and I notice quite a bit of usual breakage. I put alot of heat on my hair that day (blowdry and flat iron). Needless to say its not somethinng I plan to do more than once or twice a year and thats if I have no other choices.

Rollersetting:-

Gives my hair bounce and volume
Gives my hair a lovely silky straightness particularly when wrapped. I feel no need to flat iron.
I find I'm retaining moisture so much more when I rollerset
It keeps my hair looking and feeling soft

I'm able to maintain length and also my hair grows much faster and healthier when I rollerset my hair. Also more bounce & body, moisture, healthier/smoother hair and ends, style last longer. I also do the saran wrap technique to give me that "flat iron" look...

cosigning on everything here. my hair feels more more moisturized and has body when i set. when using a blow dryer and flat iron, it feels drier. and saran wrap really does the trick when I want a straighter style.:yep:

Agree with all of the above. I am noticing that I retain much more length this way. I avoid using direct heat on my ends. Also, It took awhile, but I prefer to rollerset now because, besides the health benefits for my hair, it actually looks much better....more moisturized, more bounce, more shine, more body, takes longer to frizz up in humidity and/or rain.

EVERYTHING IS BETTER.

ITA...plus my ends are a lot more healthier

When I was relaxed; I was a card carrry rollersetting aficionado. Benefits:

1. Healthy ends
2. Less need to style( I could finger comb my curls and they style lasted a week)
3. My edges are very healthy(compared to braided styles)
4. Helped my stretch between relaxers longer.

They've helped me to stay away from direct heat. They also keep me from doing much manipulation for those 2 weeks. I LOVE rollersets (but not so much after 14 weeks post).

Rollersetting has been so wonderful for my hair. I agree with all the other postings. My ends are so much better, thicker, smoother, the curls last so much longer...I can go on and on about how rollersetting has benefitted my hair. The few times I pulled my flat iron out, I was so disgusted with my ends, so rollersetting is the truth!

My hair feels moisturized longer after I rollerset as opposed to using direct heat.
My hair has more body when I rollerset. It looks fuller when I rollerset.

Rollersetting is low maintenace for me. I can rollerset and wear it for 2 weeks without doing anything else to it. I don't even really have to comb it. I can wrap it and pull it out with my fingers and go.....I rollerset up 'til 12 weeks post relaxer to get it straight.

Hi SoonerGirl - Rollersetting is the only style I know how to do - I will rollerset and then wrap my hair with a mesh velcro wrap thingee...I don't go for the tighter curls always the wrapped look - for your length of hair I would recommend the large gray rollers and doing the "anchor method" for putting the rollers in - there are tutorials on youtube and you can also do a search on this board as well. I use Lacio Lacio, Nexxus Mousse, Phytospecific Integral, or Lottabody to set my hair (depending on my mood)

Your hair will luv ya for it -

HTH....

Less manipulation on my end

When my hair is curly I tend to play in my hair more. When its rollerset I tend to leave my hair alone. Plus in the morning I can just comb and run out the door. I don't have to worry about wetting my hair every day and dealing with delicate wet hair. I've been rollersetting since the 70's.
