My bantus are always a HAM. Also plaits or small braids. I can't do them on wet hair cause they always turn our frizzy. But i'm the queen of french braid braidout. It NEVER FAILS. Basically I just wash, blowdry and style my hair as i normally do ...then after 4 or 5 days when my hair is greasy, body-less and can't do anything with it. I use maybe 2 squirts of foaming wrap lotion rub thru my hair, mainly the length. Then i braid 1 french braid tightly down the back of my head. Sleep on it, and the next morning, unravel and fingerstyle.I have beautiful big waves that can withstand hot humid days. I've even had stylists comment on how beautiful my hair looked. But the downside is I don't use alot of wrap lotion so it's hard to preserve the waves overnight, so i do it every night until i'm tired and ready for wash day. my sis has shoulder length hair and she does it, so i know u can do it with your length too.
Or u dont have to wait til ur hairwash is 4 days old...u can braid it right after u blowdry...but i think the key is to use it on heat-styled hair before you braid it to eliminate the HAMishness.
do u have a relaxer in your hair? that could be it. That's how u get a big HAM on your head lolNo matter how neat I braid- twist- or create bantu knots the end result is ALWAYS a ham!!! Anyone else experiencing this?? What am I doing wrong?

I haven't had success with braidouts since joining LHCF, but back in the day, I used to do them all the time. I really stopped to think about what I was doing back then, and i think I was using old fashioned Lustrasilk Pink Lotion. That stuff is heavy, but I guess it saturated my hair enough because I never had tangles or frizzies. I would just wash my hair, detangle, spray a little setting lotion in, use a lot of the Pink lotion, braid it up and go to sleep. The next day I had the perfect braidout. That used to be my go-to style for years. I might try again, but I don't want to deal with the tangles if it doesn't come out right.
I know some relaxed ladies that rock braid outs. Are you joking?do u have a relaxer in your hair? that could be it. That's how u get a big HAM on your head lol![]()

Mine come out frizzy too. The first day not so much but after that it's all downhill. I've gotten to the point where I won't even do them anymore. Twist-outs work much better for me.I hate the way braidouts looks on my hair. I've tried it wet, dry, and damp (lol) and they still look frizzy. But I loveee bantu knots, they always turn out good.
