I use more Aubrey's Organics than Giovanni

AO Products: AO Honeysuckle Rose, GPB, White Camillia
Giovanni Products: Direct Leave In, Tea Tree Conditioner, Giovanni Smooth as Silk Shampoo

I like that AO's conditionrs do what they say on the label. AO are my staple conditioners. I like how rich and creamy they are. Combine them with the steam treament and :lick:. The ingredients are also more natural and superior (IMO) to Giovanni. Giovanni's ingredients don't vary much from product to product but the shampoos worked better for my hair.

4A Hair

I  both brands. Aubrey's conditioners are my deep conditioner staples. Giovanni Direct is my leave in conditioner staple. They meet different needs.

ETA: I typed this response before reading the post, only to then realized I'd posted in this thread before :lachen:.

Both of these products have rebates today at Rite Aid so I'm off to buy them both. I will report back.

I say Giovanni is a more balanced line since the shampoo's are great. I get more slip from giovanni smooth as silk conditioner than some of the aubrey's ones but both are very nice. From Aubrey's I like the honeysuckle and rose, white camellia and gpb conditioners. The giovanni instantly softens and gives slip though.

AO Hands down, I bought the Giovanni Weightless Leave in, and it was ok, but my AO products (especially the Island Naturals) works 10x better

I actually like both AO and Giovanni but I like AO a little more because they have a wide variety of conditioners that work for me and leave my hair moisturized. The 50/50 Giovanni conditioner is great but the leave in sucked for me. Also, the packaging takes away from it for me. One thing I can't stand about Giovanni is the packaging. It's harder for me to get product out because of the bottle shape.:nono:

AO has the best conditioners. Shampoos are awful. Giovanni line as a whole is better. Can't really pick.

I wish there was a place that you could get liter sizes of AO conditioners.

Whats better as a whole product line?
AO

Which products do you use?
AOHSR poo & condish. I use a bit of condish as a leave in. I've heard that the AO poo's are drying but using the condish right after the poo works well for me. I have had no problems and plan to by the protein condish next.

Why is it better?
I have giovanni 50:50 balanced poo & condish and direct leave in and they give me no moisture or slip. I took the leave-in back to whole foods and gave DH the 50:50 to try out. Even he switched to AOHSR. I get amazing mositure and slip with AOHSR. I detangle with a head full of AOHSR, something I can't do with Giovanni. I have had to rewash my hair after using Giovanni direct leave in since I was losing so much hair during a rollerset.

Whats your hair type? 4a

I agree AO Conditioners are much better than Giovanni Conditioners and moisturize my hair better with slip.

I am now adding more organic products to my regimen and was gonna purchase a few of each shampoo and conditioner in both lines, but now that I've read these post, I know that I have to use the AO conditioners (thicker) for deep conditioning and Giovanni poos (more moisturizing and softening) than AO. Whew!!! I am so glad I saw this post before I actually purchased. I will still get some of the other Giovanni conditioners for co-washing and leave my expensive WEN for special occasions:grin::yep:.

Lol! A blast from the past. I only ever tried the AO swimmers poo and con on holiday and it was ok. I have been using Giovanni since 2006 and I normally change products all the time! Giovanni is the one! The whole line is suffice!

I'm gonna roll with Giovanni....

My hair thought AO GPB was okay, wasn't thrilled with it.
The HSR is also pretty good...

But when I finally tried the Giovanni Smooth as Silk...the hair was...

*a keeper*

I'm gonna go ahead and vote my staple: Aubrey Organics is the winner for me. I can't really stand the shampoos, so I use Giovannin Smooth as Silk shampoo. BUt after that, its AO all the way. I especiall LOVE the HoneySucklyRose conditioner. I mix it with EVCO, Jojoba, and Sweet Almonds oils, then I cover and DC with heat for about 1hr. OOoooooo.....my hair is like butter all the way.:lick:

I use Givonanni VitaPro Fusion as braid spray. and I also use Aubrey Organics Primrose Tangle Go Lusterizer as braid spray. Its main ingredient is witch hazel with is great for the scalp.:yep: It makes my scalp and braids look, smell, and feel awesome!! :drunk:

I say AO hands down! I love the GPB..it's mos def a staple of mines that I use every week. It leaves my hair very soft and smooth and detangled which is great. It also gives it a decent amount of moisture for a light protein cond. I guess it the aloe in it. I like the HSR too but GPB gets my vote. However, the shampoos that I've tried didn't do anything for me but made my hair hard once I was in need of a touch up. Giovanni..I didn't like any of the products I tried. The shampoo and leave in didn't agree. I am texlaxed 3c/4a. I am going to try the AO hydrating shampoo and see how it works.

I'm going to choose Aubrey Organics. I've been using it on and off for a few years and now I'm going to use it exclusively. I use the GPB conditioner. I've noticed that their "coconut fatty acid base" contains alcohol as a preservative (the bad kind that gets you drunk) but it works for me.

I have samples of Giovanni. I am going to use them but I will not buy the product anymore. There's a preservative in their ingredient listing that releases formaldehyde. I'm noticing more and more natural companies are putting these formaldehyde preservatives in their conditioners. I understand we need a preservative but can't we do better than this?

Last year, I learned to treat myself to the best of both worlds! I alternate between Giovanni shampoo and conditioner for moisture, and AO GPB for protein. My hair will dictate what it needs, and the needs change every season. Right now, I'm using moisture products about 3 X's a month, and protein 1 X. I've also learned to follow each weekly shampoo with a porosity control rinse for ph balance, thanks to newflowers porosity thread. Now I know to keep Giovanni and AO brands in my rotation. It took me a year of trial and error to learn this, but they have both become staples for me!!:yep:

Angelicious, are you refering to the dreaded DMDM hydantoin that is in most current products at the BSS? I have been shying away from it ever since I learned that when DMDM is heated, it turns into formaldehyde. Heck, I use heat every shampoo day! I was using a cholesterol at that time that had that chemical it in it; and I started to notice my ends were snapping off more. :nono: I just don't think my hair likes DMDM that much....and here I am thinking about a BKT????? I better do my homework and research like crazy before I make any sort of decision...cause I am one sensitive-headed and bodied girl!!!!

Yes, I am talking about DMDM Hydrantoin, Germall II (contains parabens), and germaben (contains parabens). I am using AO because even though it has ethyl alcohol in it, I rather have my hair drunk than have it preserved in formaldehyde.

I was upset that I purchased home-based products that I thought were natural and they were not because of the ingredients above. I'm sticking with my Alcohol laden Aubrey Organics.

Your reggie sounds good. I might try it... I'm looking for a new one with my newly textlaxed BKT head. I am going to try my Giovanni Smooth as Silk conditioner, I checked the ingredients and I should be good. I have a couple of good products of pH balancing and porosity control. I have some GPB also. I can't use the Smooth as Silk shampoo...Sodium Chloride ....

No luck with the AO shampoos, I don't know what kind of hair that stuff is made for :nono:

Whats better as a whole product line? From my limited experience, I would have to say AO overall

Which products do you use?AOHSR conditioner, Giovanni SAS shampoo and conditioner. These are the only products I've tried so far

Why is it better? AO makes my hair feel so lush. At first I didnt like it, cuz it didnt give me much slip, but now that I've been using it for a few weeks, I can really tell a difference in the moisture levels and softness. I cant wait to try the other AO conditioners. Giovanni shampoo is aight, I still use it occasionally, but the SAS conditioner didnt really do much for me.

Whats your hair type? Relaxed, fine and dense

I just tried the Giovonni Direct Leave In. I added a little oil of Hot 6 to each dollop, and I think it turned out nice. I have to give it a try again, because my hair reverted a week after it was pressed.

My stylist hates AO Honeysuckle Rose Shampoo, but the AO GPB and the AO Honeysuckle Rose conditioners are good and even better with oil(s) added to them. Currently, I have to go with Aubrey Organics.

Is Giovanni considered a protein leave in cos I want to use the Joico reconstructor spray along with Giovanni Direct leave in for my weekly rollersets, is that too much protein?

I prefer Giovanni over Aubrey, but that's just me.

I can use Giovanni conditioners as a rinse-out or leave-in.

I've been using Giovanni for about a week now, and while I love love love the shampoo, I'm not feeling the conditioner. It turns the hair that was all soft from the shampoo into this hard brillo mess. I think it's bc of the protein :(

Whats better as a whole product line? Aubrey organics

Which products do you use? love GPB, honeysuckle rose, claryfying shampoo tea tree rinse conditioner, pretty much everything I am going to transition from clinique to aubrey organics sensitive skin range.

Why is it better?thick and creamy and has a fatty coconut base which my hair loves.

Whats your hair type? 3c 4a relaxed
